Merged: Now that you've played, Kurzick or Luxon
Dougal Kronik
I prefer Luxons myself as that's the only 10k Faction I completed. I did play the Kurzizk side down to Lutgardis Conservatory. Found the hateful Dredge were more of an obstacle than the Naga/Rot Wallow/Kappa combined!
I won 75% of my Alliance battles in Jade Quarry with the Luxon, and 100% of my battles in Fort Aspenwood with the Kurzick.
I do hope the faction choices are reset before release, because I am the leader of my guild and only had myself and two others playing this weekend, when I swore allegiance to the Luxon Faction.
Didn't really know what would happen when I was playing around with all the new options. And I wanted to get into Gyala Hatchery!
My guild may not really appreciate that! But hopefully it can be changed if the officers want.

Good. I hate kittens. They look so cute but then when you try to pet them they scratch your eyeballs out.

They will if you don't know what you're doing...
Anyway, I didn't have much time this weekend and I hear something about "babyeating" different places on this forum, associated with the Kurzicks. What's that about?

Rebirther: Sorry to have confused you. My point was that:
A)while the Luxon area is much more colorful, (the mobs, quests and such) are much easier.
B) In the similar Luxon quest, you are supposed to fight a bunch of prisoners in a prison area, and the Luxon outside yell "kill them, kill them!". That is not a war, it's plain stupid. If it was a war, yelling the same thing would be totally cool.
On the Kurzick side, they treat battle as an honorable thing. And they take you to fight their own "elite" people, not go into a prison cell and kill all the prisoners "honourably".
I hope I make more sense now ^^;
Plus Luxon use turtles to fight :/ That is the wierdest choice ever for a battle animal... I think its pathetic...

Personally, I loved them both and will probably play both. The cashing in your points helps with that ability to switch, too; I was really worried about this point until I tried it out.
Both sides had their appeal in their own way. I honestly can't say I found one better than the other.
Which one to play first, now, I'm not sure. I'll probably wait and see what my guild wants to do. My guild leader seemed to think it was cool that he could ally with one or the other, although he didn't get to contemplate it long before a dragon killed him. I'm leaning a bit towards Kurzicks because I love the gothic look, but the Luxons had a wonderfully bright look to everything that I loved, too.
I honestly don't think you can go wrong choosing either one. Watching the two during the end event was amusing; I was in Cavalon ID1 and House zu Heltzer ID1 at the same time for a bit (until my desktop choked on Cavalon ID1 over remote destop, heh), and it was all different than what I'd have expected. The Kurzick side, portrayed as being a bit stuffy and formal, had people dancing around everywhere, every which way, jumping around, ect. The Luxon side, portrayed as being a bit more lighthearted, had carefully lined up rows of dancers all in sync.
I had a great time playing stuff for both sides, though, and look forward to playing April 27th (go preorder early access, I took two days off of work!).

There is just no way I can ignore half the game... So we'll take a guild vote and play that side first, then we'll probably switch and try out the other side. (I'm fairly certain all my guildies agree that we MUST play both sides).
I have been threatened (I'm the guild leader)...that we must do Kurzick first... so...

I personally didn't play Kurzik. I played through most of luxon and enjoyed the scenery but that was about it. The rest of it left alot to be desired. A few of my guild members played kurzik totally and seemed to like it.
The PvP side of thing's IMO seemed to be an overwhelming since of frustration. More times than not you would get into a battle just to have 5 out of 12 players quit in less than a minute. I think everyone that played the Luxon side of alliance battles would agree to that.
The coop(random) Luxon missions in the RPG. Totally dissappointed. Spend 20 - 30 minutes waiting to get into a fight just to have 2-4 ppl leave. YAY I get to spend another 20 minutes waiting for an opposing party to join.
Overall I was totally dissappointed with my experience with the Luxon Faction and Factions overall. I will buy the expansion just to remain competetive(skill list wise). Yet I sincerely hope ANET/NCSOFT really have something better to offer at full release.
will have to go Kurzik purely based upon my total dislike of the Luxon experience; scenery not included!

Pretty sure I did everything available in the FPE, save for getting the 15k armor... I liked my archmage armor too much.
I still favor the Kurzicks. I just really prefer their setting and their take on things. Moss + ferns = good in my book. The southern area of the Luxons, after the Hatchery, is much nicer in my opinion, and its a shame not everybody got to see it, as it made me like the Luxon side a lot more than I had.
But still, Kurzick for me. Even though my entire guild prefers Luxons, that won't stop me from raking up the Kurzick faction points

I don't know, "wierdest choice ever"? I mean, Turtles have thick shells and are tough... what more do you want in a battle animal? I'd love to have a Turtle Pet...
Inari
^Yeah, esspecialy huge turtles with thick shells and their EXPOSED faces, arms and legs and what not at the hight of your sword....
If you ever served in the army, than you would know that Artillery WONT win the fight, plus its the first thing to go down, as in primary traget.
Oh, and you do realise they are as fast as a turtle.... I would imagin you would want something which moves faster, esspecially for a pet :/

No, turtles ftw. Besides, if one does die in battle... you can feed your army.

I just notice that the Kurzick players are far more rude and insulting to Luxons, outside of Alliance Battles(Neither side was a gem there, but the Kurzicks cheated a lot more too, spy quitters). I mean seriously, there were a lot of Kurzicks coming to town just to hassle Luxons, an the insults in this thread from the Kurzick seem to be a lot meaner.
So now I just completely dislike Kurzicks and their players.

No clue on what the guild wants but for me, it's the Kurzicks. Despite their darker looks, they value arts and honor and family. the Luxons seem much rougher. Though both places are beautiful.
Rhunex
I'm pretty evenly split. I like the looks of both sides, I like the monsters on both sides, and I like the NPCs on both sides, though Kurzicks seemed more complete. Example, in the Quarry(or aspenwood, I don't care to remember which) there's Kommandant soandso, whereas the luxons just get the Luxon Commander.
however, if I do end up picking one or the other, I'm picking Kurzicks. I like amber more than jade, I like the juggernauts more than huge turtles, I like their forests more than the Jade sea, and I like the costumes found on NPCs in Kurzick territory more than the ones in Luxon territory, even though I like both.
If I don't have to choose one or the other to get far, then I'm going to stay fairly neutral. I might get Luxon Faction and such for a month and then go Kurzick with it, if possible.

All I know is that over in Luxon land, players were friendly and helpful. There was a lightness and excitement in the public chat, every person I met and whispered was friendly and polite, and I had a really fun time. Over in Kurzick land however, players were rude and condescending. I read many insults and degrading comments in the public chat, every person I met and whispered was a jerk and/or smartass, and I had a miserable time. As an example, I added two people to my Friends list in Luxon, and two to my Ignore list in Kurzick. In Luxon, one person called me an angel, and in Kurzick one person called me a c-nt wh0re.
I'll be playing Luxon.
I'll be playing Luxon.
TopGun
That is my allegiance.
I just wish I had a higher-rez picture of the Kurzick symbol, it's really painful to do a good job photoshopping low-rez stuff.
Of course, I'm still yet to figure out what the Hell we're fighting over.

The jade sea got bland after awhile, as did the petrified forest. Hopefully the other areas make up for the repetative-ness

I chose Kurzick. I often visited Luxon outposts/capital city even after that. I have concluded that both sides are equally great. (looks/styles/environments.etc)
I am still going to stay with Kurzick.
*Remember do not judge the side by the players. Judge the players themselves. No matter what side their on, their going to act the same way...

Luxons.
Why?
-They have the giant turtles
-The environment is more like preseraing (which I loved)
-I can't stand a dark areas like the Catacombs because I usually play in low light conditions (which means I cannot see a thing when I am playing)
-Luxons build things (magical walking machines that traverse the jade ocean), and I am an engineering major
-Luxons aren't into religion like the Kurzicks' "ultra-conservative and highly religious culture"
-The Talon Silverwing Hench ROCKS more than the slug things form Kurzicks
-Kurzicks are like hermits, they live in their forest place and pretty much are isolated
-Kurzicks are like Goth people. I HATE Goth people.

the top reason why i'm siding with the Luxons - some can argue that this is a stupid reason but I can't stand Goths, my sister is one and I can't even stand being in the same room as her let alone spend my time in guild wars in that kind of environment.

I really liked the Kurzicks, although I hated the dark areas.. and I like beaches and sunny places.. I'm just undecided. Depends on my friends and guild.

Dark, gothic swampy forests with thick overbrush and milky green skies; or bright, sunny ocean beaches with large vistas and clear blue skies. Hmm...

One more vote for Turtle Pirates. Many reasons.
1.) The Jade Sea and attendant locales are absolutely stunning. The Petrified Forest makes me want to stungun myself.
2.) Giant turtles. With cannons. End of story.
3.) I've already dealt with one batch of priggish, hidebound religious zealots trying to kill me in Prophecies. No way amd I aiding another similar batch. Related to this: it is my personal belief that religious zealots of any sort deserve their very own personal ring of the Inferno.
4.) Luxons get a Tengu Swordsman. Kurzicks get Necromantic Pigturtle Things. Again, end of story.
5.) Though results seemed to vary, I lost only one 12-man fight while aiding the Luxons. People were just more helpful in the Jade Sea.
6.) Jade > Amber.
7.) Gargantuan magical walking machines filled with pirates. I am an incurable mecha/technology freak with a penchant for piracy. Arr, mateys.
8.) Giant turtles. With cannons. End of story.
9.) Kurzick NPCs are of two categories: vapid starving-artist types spewing forth flowery fecal matter every time you speak to them (which is annoying however pretty the words are), and nasty, vicious pukes cussing out Luxons with language five times as appallling as I'd seen Luxons use to Kurzicks. The Kurzicks actively despise Luxons and wish for their annihilation, while to me the Luxons simply hold no respect for a bunch of angsty gothic types pining to their gods for every little thing. Artists are well and good, I'm a writer myself, but Guild Wars is a game of strife and combat. And in combat, the strong prevail. The Kurzicks are misguided fools who seek to hide from the troubles of the world and let their gods sort things out, while the Luxons seek to affect change directly. I know which camp I'd rather be in.

The Kurzick worship Belthazar, Lyssa, Melandruh (sorry for spelling), and Grenth.
They value honor highly.
Also, after the pe mission, they didnt treat their newly formed Luxon allies like war prisoners, while on the Luxon side they almost killed them AFTER the mission. Good thing that atleast ONE pirate (ie, the criminal of society) had enough guts to respect their allience.
While I didn't really cared much for the walking trees, and I do admit that the turtles will work better. On the JADE SEE! If they can actually manage to bring turtles like that into the forest, and NOT getting their ass kicked like in the Kurzick mission, I would love them turtles.
All in all we have two opposing factions: One reprsent society and progress, and one represent underground and resistance. You can clearly see that the Kurzicks are far more civilised to the Luxon.
Most of Luxons here like the luxon cuz they have giant turtles, like bright colors (please dont misunderstand this), and they hate goths. Well, congrats, you are truely fit to be Luxons.

I have a dilemna. Guild goes Kurzick, and i like the Kurzick style, but i cannot put up with their bad guy image. I thought ANET were doing as much as possible to make em look less of the bad guys, but kurzick quests were so ridiculously ironic in regard to events at the moment. For example, the musician that calls on you to hunt animals to extinction to make some instruments is simply crazy, and the bit with the Dredge being denyied asylum is too close to home for me. I dont think i could put up with those kinda characters for every long, even though they look kick ass.
As a result far prefer the Luxons environment, and the way they conduct things. My only fear is that many ppl will go Luxon, and it will suffer becuase of it. Having played both sides in alliance battles, i can say that each side is equally filled with n00bs. Decisions decisions.

Like I said in another thread, the battle cry of Luxon was "We're gonna lose, I'm leaving!" and the battle cry of Kurzick was "u n00bs".
Hopefully you can't fight for the opposing faction in the full game (and hopefully members of one faction are shut out of the staging area of AvA battles of the other faction).
