You picked the wrong forums to post anti farming and I see that EternalTempest threw out that same lame quote that doesn't say Anet supports farming and only says that they are against excessive farming which is what a person does with a 55hp monk or any other farm build. I have both a 55hp and a W/Mo (which I switch to W/R depending on the farming spot) and I still say farming is what is ruining the economy. Why do I have them? Simple, just to keep up. So what if strip enchanment is a 55hp killer, there aren't that many enemies that do it. For those enemies that do the solution is called spell breaker. Don't even talk about game balance, there is nothing balance about it in the PvsE part. A group of 8 lvl20s against 8+ enemies that are over level 20.
As for FoW armor and those that think farming is needed just to afford it guess what, FoW and UW are for those that did everything else in the game and is why the quests down there are repeatable. That and since shards drop in the Fissure and Ecto drops in the UW when you do those quest over and over by the time you aquire the shards and ecto through killing durring questing you will have the money to buy the rest. If you know how to salvage you will only need to pay the cost of making it. Also places like HoH and GvsG, PvsP that is accessable after beating the game can yeild lots of money (what I've read in other forums, don't know first hand).
The price of items increase, oddly enough, when farmed. I won't go into details as I already have in one of my suggestion posts, lets just say it has to do with the buy vs sell ratio at the traders combined with the increase of gold that comes with farming. The reason sup vigor and absorbtion is dropping in price now is because this game has been out for a while now and doesn't have the influx of new comers like it use to and those already playing have them already. So the buy vs sell at the trader is more balanced. The reason it dropped as far as it did was from people selling them to the trader cause the amount offered outweighed the hastle of competing against the dozen others who were selling them too at a time when alot of people already had them. This meant more were being sold to the trader than being bought which increaded the number the trader has (since the trader doesn't have an unlimited amount) and lowering the selling cost and buying cost at the trader to what it is now. Notice it hasn't gone up or down significantly for quite some time.
And henchies suck, they are dumb seriously dumb so soloing the entire game with them is impossible. If you say you've done it then I can honestly say your either a hacker or BS. Plain and simple. So I'm with ya on it in a way that something has to be done about farming but not with ya that the -50 offhand is the key since people will just use the -20, go 105 or use an entirely different class. However, other than for 55hp setup, its a pretty useless item so it should probably go. What you have to relize is that these people who personally attacked you over a suggestion have no lives outside the game and therefore have the time to farm all day since they've beaten the game with multiple characters(yes I did the same personal attacking with this post just because I believe in fighting fire with fire and "Do onto others what has been done to you" -Tool).

I soloed every mission with all-hench teams. Usually not the maximum number of henches either.
The ones I haven't done are the Titan quests (except defend Droknars), and I've not managed the new Underworld (AFAIK only one person has managed to complete the new Underworld with an all-hench team).
It's just a question of learning how to command your henches. And to never, ever, bring Orion/Cynn, except at Thunderhead Keep.

To the Op .I wonder how you got your entire armor throughout the whole game from level 1 in pre to level20 ending at hells Precipice?
I wouldn't mind seeing you do Abbandons Mouth wirh henchies or Hells.

I to would love to go back to the old economy when the game launched before people figured out how to work it. I played in 3 beta events and since the game launched. The players altered the economy in a way anet never dreamed of and there dealing with it.
This means two things until anet changes it, they allow it. It also means if they change it, you don't have an arugment against the change (from the developers point of view).
And they have changes ALOT of things since launch to control things
Remember Chests w/o Keys (removed).
Trageted farming for specific drops (drop "types" are now widly scattered now) aka 5 man smite teams for perfect storm bows.
Introduction of Green items.
The Desert Queen and Prohpets path.
Anet made this game to allow different styles of play. PvE, PvP, PvM, "Traditional", "Shortcuts" to attract the widest amount of players.
The main reason why I pull that out is so you know is how the developer of the game felt. It's not to say you can't disagree with him, counter his arugments too.
The more you play diffrent "styles" the more you understand how well made this game is. When you only play one "way", you don't see all the facet's of a gem. There are flaws but GW turned out rather well.
Also if you want a great item that you can mod, grab a collector item, there much much easier to get then perfect golds. Want perfect stats, get drak's armor. Want great items but not collector's, try green.
Want to jazz up with non-stat but cool looking items, earn money, get black dye. The Rune price's can be covered in his article (PvP vs PvM) mixed feelings about that. Pvp doesn't have trouble getting a hold of sup runes.
Some good points against the op are that there are plenty of other ways to do the same things w/o removing the item. He could do the same as others. Farming has become (for better or worse) part of the economy and any changes will have affects.
And farming also makes prices go down (by overfarming) and Anet can tweak the drop rates on that.
