I've seen an overwhelming amount of questions that all sorta relate to the same thing =\. So i decided to compile a Frequently Asked Questions about Cantha. Will try and keep this updated when i can.

Question: How do i get to Cavalon/House zu Heltzer?
Quest: Welcome To Cantha (taken in Bejunkan Pier, leads to Vizunah Square) Mission: Vizunah Square Local/Foreign (Leads to Dragon’s Throat) Quest: Finding the Oracle (taken in Dragon’s Throat, leads to Nahpui Quarter) Mission: Nahpui Quarter (Leads to Senji’s Corner) Quest: To Tahnnakai Temple (taken in Senji’s Corner, leads to Tahnnakai Temple) Mission: Tahnnakai Temple (leads to Zin Ku Corridor) Quest: Meeting with The Emperor (taken in Zin Ku Corridor, leads to Tahnnakai Temple explorable) Quest: The Count’s Daughter (taken in Zin Ku Corridor, leads to Maatu Keep) Quest: The Count’s Daughter continued (updated outside Maatu Keep, leads to Tanglewood Copse) Quest: The Count’s Daughter continued (updated outside Tanglewood Copse, leads to Arborstone) Mission: Arborstone (Leads to Altrumm Ruins) Quest: The Convocation (taken from Altrumm Ruins, leads to Boreas Seabed) Mission: Boreas Seabed (Leads to Zos Shivros Channel) Quest: City Under Attack (Taken from Zos Shivros Channel, leads to Maatu Keep) Quest: City Under Attack continued (Best to start from Maatu, as Xaquang Skyway is just outside, Leads to Raisu Pavilion) Quest: Battle in the Sewers (Taken from Raisu Pavilion, leads to Sunjiang District) Mission: Sunjiang District (Leads to Maatu Keep)
Haha, if you managed to finish all that, talk to Jamei in Maatu Keep. Jamei should now offer two quests pick either:

Journey to Cavalon
or
Journey to House zu Heltzer

If you picked Journey to Cavalon, then go to Zos Shivros Channel and talk to the guard there. If you picked Journey to House zu Heltzer, go to Altrumm Ruins and talk to the guard there.

Question: Are there any special end-game armors like Obsidian armor in prophecies? Yes, there are end game and special armors but on a smaller scale to Obsidian armor sets. 3 different types of 15k armor are available: Luxon sets, Kurzicks sets and special endgame sets. These all require different materials depending on what set you choose and what class you are. They all require 15000 gold per piece crafted.

Assassins and Ritualists have 6 sets of 15k armor available to them, Luxon, Kurzick and 3 endgame sets.
Question: Where do i craft the Luxon/Kurzick 15k armors?
Luxon
For the Luxon armors, you must have made it to Cavalon and finished the quest Befriending the Luxons from Elder Rhea (which requires you to aquire 10k Luxon Faction), then take the quest Stolen Eggs which leads to Gyala Hatchery. Once finished Gyala Hatchery, you get sent to the Leviathan Pits where the armor crafter is.

Kurzick
For the Kurzick armors, you must have made it to House zu Heltzer and finished the quest Befriending the Kurzicks from Count zu Heltzer (which requires you to aquire 10k Kurzick faction), then take the quest The Defenders of the Forest that leads to Eternal Grove, finishing that lands you in Vasburg Armory where the armor is.
Question: Where can I get the Jadeite/Amber required to make the 15k armors? Jadeite Shards and Amber are aquired from Cavalon and House zu Heltzer. Jadeite Shards cost 1000 Luxon Faction each from the the Faction Rewards NPCs at Cavalon. Amber can be obtained from the House zu Heltzer Factions rewards NPC and costs 1000 Kurzick faction each.
Will I be able to play as a Luxon or Kurzick when my guild is oppositely aligned?
YES! You will be able to play as a Luxon if your guild is Kurzick or the other way around. As you gain faction from quests, you can either add them to your guild pool, or redeem them for yourself. If you play as the opposite faction from your guild, of course you won't be able to contribute to your guild standing but you can redeem the points for yourself.

Question: Am I able to obtain armor without crafting it?
If you want to get armor for (almost) free, seek out the various collectors that will swap your monster guts for new armor. Different collectors will have different pieces of armor, bt they will always have the same piece regardless of your class, for example the Chest Armor collector for a monk will have Chest Armor for assassins too.
Kaguya has compiled information about Armor Collectors of various AL in this thread. complete with useful maps of where exactly the collectors are.

Question: What new pets are there? So far I have found a Tiger, White Tiger, Reef Lurker (red), Reef Lurker (blue), a Crane, Black Moa and another secret pet.

Question: Where do I change my secodary in Cantha? Senji [Proffesion Change] in Senji's Corner can change your secondary proffesion for you for a one time fee of 500g if you haven't done the quest for it yet in Tyria.

Question: Help! I can't change my proffesion in Tyria even though I already paid 500g to Senji!
Unfortunately to change in Tyria you must do the quest for it, but to change in Cantha you can either pay Senji or do have the quest done in the Crystal Desert, paying 500g does not unlock that proffesion to change to in Tyria.

Question: Why are some zone portals blocked off?
Some portals require you to have an active quest and update it at the end of the zone to pass through. An example of this is Welcome to Cantha
which allows you access to Vizunah Square mission if you have it active.
This was done to discourage runners.

Question: Can my characters exceed the 200 attribute point limit by doing all 4 of the quests for +15 points in Tyria and Cantha?
No. Characters coming from Tyria cannot access the quests that give +15 Attribute points on Shing Jea Island. Canthan characters coming into Tyria can complete quests in Tyria but will only recieve Gold/Experience and not additional rewards such as skills or in this case attribute points.

Question: How do I get my Canthan Character to Tyria or Tyrian Character to Cantha?
Cantha - Tyria
To get your Canthan Characters to Tyria for the first time, go to Kaineng Center and take the quest 'Chaos in Kryta' from Guardsman Chienpo, keep in mind you must have purchased both GW Factions and GW Prophecies.

Tyria - Cantha
For Tyrian characters to travel to Cantha they must talk to Firstwatch Sergio in Lion's Arch and take his quest to travel to Cantha. Note that it is not necessary to take a party for the quest as there is no fighting involved.

Characters who have already completed the quests required to access Tyria or Cantha can travel freely without need to do the quests again. Just click the ship icon near Lion's Arch or Kaineng Center and select port of choice.
Question: What different types of missions are there in Cantha?
Aside from the normal Standard Missions, GW:F includes Challenge Missions where you compete with a team of 8 to set a new record by completing a goal within alloted time. Also new are Elite Missions, which provide a new challenge and completing them shafts you some nice rewards Question: How do Alliance Missions work?
Alliance missions put you and 11 others from your faction (8 random and 3 from the team you selected) up against 12 players from the opposing faction (Luxon/Kurzick) and you fight it out to capture bases, just kill people in general . How it works is the first faction to gain 500 points wins the round. Points are gained by capturing bases by having more people from your team present at the base than people from the other team. Points are also gained upon kills. Holding bases grants powerful bonuses so it is better to capture and try and hold them too.

Thanks to: Kaguya for Armor Collectors list and answering miscellanious questions

problem is, when i talk to the guy at the end of "city under attack" i get that moronic response, sending me on an idiotic mission of unparalleled uselessness to zos shivros...
i mean FFS anet, make this crap linear.
i mean...am i supposed to pull a crystal ball out of my ass (as nifty as that would be) and guess that in order to continue with the storyline i have to talk to someone halfway across the map; without being directed there?

So this has been changed from FPE, where you also had to do the quest "Befriending the xxxxx's" and gather 10,000 faction before you could access the mission area?

Ah yes had left that part out, didn't pay much attention to it because i already had 10k luxon faction at that time i think . Anyway changed now thanks.

Also if anyone can tell me what quest is required to get to Eternal Grove, much appreciated because my monk is aligned with Luxon already and I can't really get the quest .

One more newb qestion : is it possible for tyran characters to complete quests rewarded by skills in tyria? I havent found any yet. My guess is that they're only available for canthan characters. I would like to know before I buy them if there is a way to save my skill points...

One thing I wanna ask...forgive me if this is being discussed on some other thread...

I'm planning on taking my Tyrian character into Cantha once I get Factions, and when I do this, where do I start out and what do I do? Also, what am I missing out on if I don't create a new character for Factions?

When you go to Cantha from Lion's Arch, the primary quests will keep you informed what you are supposed to do, eventually bumping onto missions and such, after which the primary quests lead on again.

You are mission out on...

a) Chances of getting highest rank of Canthan explorer-title
b) Chances of Canthan Protector-title.

This goes vice versa for Canthan born chars, they can't get Tyrian titles. Other than titles, you don't really miss anything.

Here is my question. Is there High level armor (like FoW) but in a canthan version. Like maybe for kurzick ud need ecto and jadite shards (in place of os shards or maybe even sapphires) and for luxon ud need ecto and amber (or rubies maybe). If there is such a high class armour in canthan version that would be great because I dont particularly like assasin or ritualist FoW. ty for any answers and sorry if this question was asked before

good start. :> remember to add the fact that you need prophesies to send canthan chars to tyria. also, a note on spending faction and what you can/cant do ( now at elast) might be helpful? i.e. you can spend faction for an alliance, but individual facion rewards are currently locked.

Here's a question...once I cross over from Tyria to Cantha or visa versa...can I freely travel between both continents? Or does traveling bewteen continents invovle a quest each time?

Also are there any prerequisites for crossing over...ie must be ascended? Lastly can I get the name of the NPC in LA for crossing over, thank you in advance.

After you beat the game, you can craft the 15k Canthan armor.
For ranger it uses 400 scales and 40 fur squares including headgear, for monk it's 350 cloth and 35 damask (i think excluding headgear), each piece costs 15k, if someone can fill the rest in pls.
Also, as some other threads have covered, you can craft +5 energy weps for 10k each plus materials, and exchange the amulet of mists for a end game green item (each character can get this amulet once only)

No need to be Ascended to jump from Tyria to Cantha, and the quest for passage needs to be only once, after this you can move around by just clicking on the ship.

Tyrian quest starts from Firstwatch Sergio [Skills] in Lion's Arch, think the quest was named 'Mhenlo's Request'. Mhenlo's something in any case.

Great thread and would have been immensely helpful if I hadn't figured out most of it already.

I do have one question though, I've searched and not been able to find anything elsewhere on the forums so my bad if I'm posting in the wrong thread.

I'm part of a guild which at this moment consist of ... well, me. I've finsihed the game, got my 10k faction by questing etc and decided to split what I'd earned 50/50 between buying Jadeite and assigning to allegiance in Cavalon.

So far I've assigned 15k to allegiance, resulting from quite a bit of grind since I seem to spend a lot of time soloing with henches.

My problem basically is this....

The 15k I assigned seems to disappear for some unknown reason.

I first noticed this yesterday, and since I only so far have 1 character who's made it that far (my Tyrians are still working their way through it) thought perhaps it was because I'd originally accepted - but not done - quests which included a Kurzick faction reward. So, I abandoned those and shoved in another 5k taking my allegiance to just above 13k.

I then (and I admit the weakness) had to sleep.

When I logged on this morning my allegiance is down again to just over 11.5k!!!

So, forgive the lengthy explanation, my question is basically this...

Is it a bug? Is there a reason why my time is effectively being wasted?

I am overall relatively new to Guild Wars in general and one of the reasons for me being a solo guild is that my time has - in my eyes at least - been better spent in learning the game, exploring etc in both Tyria and Cantha than standing around recruiting, though after running through Factions it was obvious it was something I was going to have to do.

What woriries me is that if this isn't a bug I'm going to be dragged into an endless cycle of making new characters to get the faction or repeating supply line stuff etc. As for the 12 v 12 stuff for gaining faction, every attempt I've made so far has resulted in standing around in the outpost forever watching the countdown followed by the 'no opposing team has joined' message.

I realise that it's early days yet since the game has barely been live for a week but it strikes me that this is something that's going to hurt smaller guilds so if someone does have an answer I'd appreciate it. In all honesty if it isn't a bug I can see myself hanging on to the faction unspent or using it for jadelite instead, at least that way it and my time isn't wasted.

Doing the quests pretty much provides you with a good supply of faction points.
Alternate ways of obtaining them would be doing the Fort Aspenwood and Jade Quarry missions for whichever side you're aligned with.

Playing 12v12 alliance battles also nets you a nice amount of faction but i don't find that much fun after they changed it

How are you supposed to fill in the level gap between the monastery island and the mainland? I'm have a lvl 12 assassin that does fine on the monastery island and has beaten all the missions and quests needed to get to the mainland with little difficulty, but once I do go to the mainland the majority of the people are lvl 20 or close to it, and all the quests there are for characters who are lvl 20, or at least close to it. Any tips on how to make my character as strong as it needs to be to be able to complete and survive the mainland's quest?

Either go abck to the island and do all the other quest(those not needed to progress) and level up or grunt through it with henchies, no other real options here. If you've done all the quest on the island and you still can't take on the monsters on the mainland, go to the island, grab only one or no hench, and kill monsters in the higher level areas.

I'm not sure if this has been posted, but I haven't seen it anywhere... you can also obtain Amber from Amber weapons and Jadeite from Jade weapons. However, the chances of salvaging these materials from said weapons are pretty low. I've gone through a fair stack of the weapons and have only managed to salvage less than a handful of the materials.

Amber weapons are fairly common drops in the Echovald Forest and Jade weapons are dropped in the Jade Sea, just in case people didn't know.

Ah yes, every Amber/Jade item I have had dropped for me has been expert salvaged to no avail. Unless someone posts a 'You managed to salvage X amber from the Amber X' or something then I have no idea if the amber/jade items salvage into anything other than wood/dust

I was luck enough to salvage 1 jadette from about 12 jade weps...not a very good ratio but 12 weps isn't to much to base that off of though. Need to do it to about 200 weps for a closer ratio. BTW how much are Jadettes going for anyways?

Jade and Amber is fluctuating at the moment. Currently about 3k a piece, though I suspect Amber will rise soon now that Kurzick Duel Quest at Brauer Academy was changed. Can you provide a screenshot of the salvage please ?

The salvage is just a plain Jadeite...doesn't look any different then the one you get for faction points. Jadeites are selling for only 2-2.5 K currently =(
