Survivor Title Guide!
[DE]
Congrats Spook_Cell, I could never accomplish that! In fact I just got survivor(1) today! Hurray! Immediatly after I managed to die (10 times in fact!!)
Suuk
Yesterday I hit the first lvl! Yay me
To be honoust this was very very easy. I guess progressing to indomitable and eventually to legendary will be much harder if not impossible... Well, we'll see.

Factions is so easy to get the survivor title.
Level 1-14 can be achieved with little risk of dying by doing every quest before you get to seitung harbor.
1. All the profession quest ( this itself gets you to level 10 )
2. Belt pouch quest
3. Appearance of the Naga
4. Studdy buddy
5. Yeti's Revenge (secret quest from wulk cragfist in sunqua vale, have to attack him and he turns green near death)
6. Kappa Trap
7. Cash Crops
8. ( if your up for risk ) The first 2 of the Crimson Skull quest from the Emperors Hand in Tsumei village. The last one requires around level 16 or higher to complete it without dying.
9. Lost Treasure - I'm sorry this is so easy to do and its free attribute points!
10. Warning the Tengu - Quest that comes after that
11. Class insignia quest/ Dojo training/ Post quest after you get insignia
By now after all this your level 14 -15 easy!
Once you get to seitung harbor you do follow the primary quest and get to zen daijun. Also Note. I got the survivor title mostly with just henchmen minus the mission in zen daijun - it is the only high risk part involved.
Now once you get to zen daijun you get the level 16 henches and go back out to haiju lagoon. Did you remember the quest from Captain Zinghu post "Apperance of the Naga"? This way you can do this level packet quickly.
First you go to the little village thats on the mountain and do "Paomu's purse" quest. Kill every Dragon Lilly and anything in or near the lake and everything on the island in the middle. Its for a quest I'll talk about in a bit.
Kill the Ravenous Drake then head back and complete the paomus quest. Then go farther into the village and they'll be a villager storytelling to children, wait a moment and once he finshes talking he pops with a quest "The Bog beast of Boku" This is why you cleared the island. Its right in the middle. Meaning a No nonsense battle so it dies easily.
Go back and claim some easy Exp. Now trace your steps back to a farmer under the windmill. He has 2 quest. One requires to fetch a chest on this island with alot of naga. It has a boss and hes a pain in the butt since he is a ritualist. I usally kill casters if they are infront of him and then kill him as fast as possible since the naga rits don't heal. Once hes down take any other caster and then warrior down. Get the chest. Go back and then he wants you to go kill a naga boss (which hes only level 10..hahaha) Well your at it, you do Captian Zinghus "Source of the naga quest." Which is quite easy too. You get two birds with one stone.
Now you should be around level 16-17.. maybe even 18
I usally now do the zen daijun mission( with people that know what they are doing! ) and then get to cantha ASAP. Once I am in cantha I get level 20 ( which level 20 automatically you get the survivor title )
-Start the primary objectives quest
-Run to Kaieng Center
- Find "Bryan" and do the "going home" quest
-Get to Kaieng Center
-Get every quest you can there especially bujos temporarly alliance to the Am Fah in Waijun baazar.
Now jump back to the market place and go unto waijun bazaar, kill 3 of the jade knights and then go back to kaieng center and talk to bujo
Now you have alliance to the Am fah in waijun baazar. Which is sweet for the quest you do it in.
-Go to Waijun bazaar and now its cake. Do the primary objectives quest. Finsh the "going home quest" and also get the "luxury goods" quest from the guy near the stairs. Run back to Bukdek byway. Once you return to bryan for exp run back in the direction of kaieng center but once your there run the opposite way so you find a piece of city thats fissured and a bridge is broken. Start the "passing the buck" quest, then do the luxury goods quest.
This is easy.
Also the "afflicted guard" quest were you have to kill guardsman chun is easy if you time it right.
What you do is go to the area that the quest points you but wait for the guards to die. THen a chunk of the afflicted run go off. Kill these so chun is alone. Once they are dead. Let Chun aggro you so only he pulls. Kill. Retrieve the EXP.
After that. Go to Waijun baazar and collect free exp from brother tosai. ( I don't do the challice of Corruption quest its stupid and rediculous for the amount of exp you get )
Go up and get to the area were the mantids are, theres a girl that gives a "Lost teddy" quest. You retrieve a teddy bear. Since the Am fah are friendly to you its a find and retrieve quest. Also get the exp for luxury goods. He gives more quest. Now your gonna be running around in waijun baazar for while. The "assist the guards" quest is easy as well.
There are alot more quest I didn't mention cause I can't remember the names off the bat but level 20 is instant.
And this is how I got the survivor title. Maybe you can get it too.. ? Thats what this guide is for.

Killing either one will trigger a quest related to that boss. Can't remember exactly but they're along the lines of, you killed my opponent, now do this for me.

Here is one more: if anyone wants I can post the title progress bar later when I get home from work.
Got lot of sweat, some care and lot of sleepless night because I was afraid of death just before finishing. (Since then I died 50 times, got to the hard missions

Well, have it on my Necro, Ritualist and ranger now. As stated earlier: getting it is very easy, especially if you do it mutiple times (by choice or forced ).
However progressing to the next lvl is a whole different ball game, at least for me. My necro died at the second attribute quest by standing locked between the wall and its minions. No problem of course were it not that the monk boss was in that crowd too, using smiting skills on my necro with minus dmg versus smiting... Luckily I already had the first title, but dang, its a shame I died there...
My Rt did it possibly easier than my nec (learning curve I guess). I did a lot of quests on the mainland, capped all skills in the closer to the stars and died when traveling to the temple (was capping an ele skill in that area - died...).
Now I am putting all my cards on my ranger. Hit survivor yesterday and cuz of the ranged attacks, stances and good armor I feel its pretty comfortable to run around. I plan to ascend in the Canthan style and grab as much elites in this area as possible. Then I want to play the missions in Tyria for skill points and of course the 2K XP (with bonus). Also ascend in the desert for a nice 50K xp, do Dragons Lair several times with different secundaries and cap skills in the shiverpeaks.
Question is:
- can you ascend in the desert when ALREADY ascended in Cantha?
- How much XP would this net me? I guess about 65K from missions (not all bonuses, only easy ones) and ascension. Capping 90 elite skilss = 45K. That would be 110 XP.
- Can someone give an estimate how far one should progress in

well, by the time u cap 90 elite skills, u should be at least survivor 2 since you only gain skill pts everytime u lvl after lvl 20. which requires 15k exp each time.

So..
I decided a couple of days ago to take an Assassin through to try and get survivor to see how easy it would be..
Not being in a guild (for this account) and using only henchies and PUG's to see how far I would get without quitting on people or farming.
The result is after 22 hours 3 mins over 3 days I finished up with 203,617 xp
and 1 death.
I died during the second PUG attempt at Arborstone, the first time the group got to the end but danika died so we failed, the second time the pug was a bad one and both healers stayed under constant falling rubble and people dropped dead.. before I could get to a reasonable distance I was hit by rubble + stone rain elemental damage which killed me as the heals were so infrequent.
Thing is whilst I was going for it, it was a rush, fun, now that I have died I'm not finding a reason to continue to play the same character.
Even using pugs and henchies you can still get survivor 1 and prolly even two and more if you quit on groups, but I wanted to see how far I got playing normally without guild/powerleveling/quitting/farming help.
Frankly i'm amazed I got as far as Arborstone.
i'm sure as hell not going to reroll and do it again although it would be much easier getting it on a caster or ranger rather than a dagger using assassin.
** The only elite I capped was Assassin's Promise along the way and only one attribute quest completed Zen Daijun.

ah, the survivor title sounded so alluring to me^^ and since the unfortunate fact that i can't achieve it anymore on any of my existing characters, i sacrificed my pvp slot. i now have an assassin with 349k xp - 0 deaths - and very proud of it (despite powerlevelling my ass of - 2 accounts ftw and enough troll tusks to build a house) nonetheless, i got to about 200k xp before i started powerlevelling - i did everything up until vizunah since i KNEW i'd die there, assassin + soul explosions don't mix...
i do have to admit that even though i take the "easy" way out, it's by no means a ride in the park :S my current char is actually my 4th attempt, since for some reason, when i was low health and would alt+F4 out of the game, it still counted as a death... the powerlevelling too is quite a hassle - i do it myself and constantly have to check the aggro circles on 2 monitors.
so, to all of u who bitch and moan about powerlevelling urself or working ur way up to the ultimate survivor title, lemme see YOU do it, not with a prof where u can stay in the back and let the tanks/assassins take all the dmg first..
there have been quite a few times i'd wish assassins were long-ranged attackers.. the luxury of not having to deal with those blasted soul explosions is one that u shouldn't take for granted
congrats to the ppl here who've made it to legendary survivor^^ i know what u've gone through.. all the effort and nailbiting alone is worth this title

Guess i'll be the first to get Legendary survivor since ive seen no one come up with an idea that dosnt involve high risk^^
start cantha character> piss easy till keining (should be lvl 20 from quests and 2 missions) > boat to lions > run to desert > ascend (with henches for missions, since they are easy enough for a veteran > cap glad def then mino farm all the way to glory, 3k xp (with scrolls) per run, i catually did 1.4mil xp without dying here with my main warrior, b4 i knew it had to be done with a NEW character, easiest way possible.
i['ll post a pic of my "Legendary survivor" in 2 weeks...quote me on that

Just got Survivor 2 on my ranger, after 57 elites and 48 hours. No powerleveling whatsoever, or escorts, just henches and a bow. Pretty sure I don't want to bother with survivor 3, cause its not really feasible without powerleveling or solo farming, which neither I intend to do. Congrats to those who have LVL 2 and 3, as well as 1 and good luck to those seeking all of the above.
The milk shake
its possible with a ranger too, i remember getting currently 500,000+ xp on trap farming trolls above droknars

Grrr died last night on my assassin in the Crystal Desert at 330,000 XP. Killed by a pack of hydras doing the Rangers Path. 38 hours over 22 days just henching and PUG'ing my way through. I've rerolled but realised that it's the last chance for anything more than Survivor (1) for me. With the Dragon Event coming up, I doubt that I'll delete a character with a Dragon mask just to aim for the Survivor 2 and 3 titles.
And grats to those with the 1, 2 and 3 titles above.

I also doubt I am pursuing Legendary, because I do not want to farm XP. But, by capping all elites it should be possible...altough some elites are difficult to cap (from my memories that is: like mineral springs before the Titans quest update; feast of corruption: died many times to get that one). There are 180 elites in the game, I have 42 so that leaves 138 elites. Say 38 are difficult/risky to cap, that leaves 100 = 500K xp. Should be possible. On the other hand: I want to PvP with my ranger...

Does anyone know if it's possible to achieve the highest Explorer rank AND the highest Survivor rank? Do you need to go into Arenas to get more map percentage? Has anyone managed to get 100% on both?
Dougal Kronik
If you get your Suvivor title first - you can then work on the Explorer/Protector titles.
Penguins Can Fly
hooray, finally got my last survivor title.
no runs and such, but the advent of factions (with max armor from cantha starting from LA on) helped a lot.
now to work on getting my 15k kurzick armor!

Actually I've got the first "Survivor" title even before the titles were introduced into the game, so if any of you will want to get an advice on how to level up a Warrior to Legendary Survivor in Prophecies, feel free to page me under the name provided in the screenshots. The full set of my Survivor screenies can be seen here: http://www.sotzone.ru/gw/0deaths/
If you'll be leveling up by farming Sand Drakes in Diviner's Ascent (Elona Reach), which in my opinion is the best area to get Legendary Survivor title in Prophecies, I suggest you inviting a guildie with the following Monk build to get you covered in order to avoid possible lag deaths: Heal Other, Reversal of Fortune, Shielding Hands, Blessed Signet, Mending, Life Bond, [Life Barrier], Succor. Attributes: Healing 13, Protection 13, Divine Favor 10. The build you'll need to run for yourself is: Deadly Riposte, Riposte, Healing Signet, Balthazar's Spirit (Mending if you're playing alone), To The Limit, [Gladiator's Defense], Bonetti's Defense, Sprint. Attributes: Healing (or Smiting) 8, Strength 3, Tactics 14, Swordsmanship 11. The trick to playing with a Monk is that you have a 100% protection against occasional lag deaths and you're still getting 300 xp per Drake under Slayer's Insight, because the bonder is staying out of your aggro radius and isn't sharing your exp points.
Hope this helps,
Dmitri.

Do you get to keep the survivor title now, if you die after getting one?
Teutonic Paladin
This is how my friend powered to Survivor... We got a FC Dwayna's Light Mesmer and 7 Saccers and blew up over and over.

I've been thinking of trying to make a survivor, as I have an extra character slot open to do so. However, I do not want to make a duplicate primary of any of the characters that I already have on my account.
My choices, therefore, are:
Ranger
Mesmer
Ritualist
Elementalist
I've already attempted Elementalist and Ritualist and had a few problems (most of them due to stupid mistakes) and I am currently leaning towards Ranger.
Could someone explain to me which they think would probably be the best to attempt Legendary survivor, or is it more a matter of preference?

Could someone explain to me which they think would probably be the best to attempt Legendary survivor, or is it more a matter of preference? |

I'm slightly confused with this title, because i have a level 20 warrior, who has died many times, but at first i thought if u just the 140,000 (or wotever it is), without dying then u get the title..... but now i read it, and i think im wrong, and you can only get it, if u havnt died like at all.
Hope that makes sence, n hope some1 can just explain it to me.... cheers.

Sorry, I'm just not a fan of the Survivor title. |
Although I get the knee-jerk reaction to a degree, honestly if anything the survivor if and when they even go for a PUG is going to be very selective and likely bring the average up. My help so far has just been playing the game in smart fashion, and yes, rarely PUGing as quite frankly I have to worry about those just blinding flying into the foe, and soaking up all aggro, nukes, and taking showers in AoE [I'm a monk for it]. With a Ritualist friend of mine (defensive) we had all we could handle with a charging assassin and ranger PUG'd.
And stuck it out and scraped them up even one managed to get themselves killed despite a ton of heals and D where they seemed to take it as a personal challenge to sponge all damage possible and get out-hurt Still I think only one death total (the assassin).
So quite frankly if I do make '1' (close) I'll get over the fact some will skip past me as a monk as quite frankly I'll be PUGing very little and wouldn't mind less invites (boy monks need to lobby for a status 'not looking for group' which ignores requests lol).

I made it and yes, im still a survivor and no, I never bailed once, nor would I. The challenge isn't in becoming a survivor by bailing out on the group if things look bad, but in sticking it out and prevailing. It is a pity that some people might exploit that definition by mapping or logging out, but don't think badly of all of us that hold the title because of a select few.

The reality is I think the majority are picking and chosing their PUGs when/if at all, so it's that much more likely if you do get one they're a bit 'jumpier'

I might be a little biased, but I'd say ranger (since that is what I'm currently on working towards Legendary ~400k away). The only reason I say this is that, in my experience, rangers are one of the last classes to get PvE aggro, have good speed bursts, and have some great defensive stances. Also, Troll Unguent w/ high wilderness = +10 health regen to offset heavy degen. Lastly, using a longbow or flatbow to pull groups is great. In fact, anyone (not just rangers) who is going for the title (and not farming it ) should carry a long/flatbow to be able to pull mobs when using henchmen. It's invaluable!
Also, with my ranger, I have done every Tyrian mission (though not every bonus) using henchmen when I backtracked for Grandmaster Explorer title. Not trying to toot my own horn, just telling you that it's very doable. Rangers are indeed very hearty.
I, to my knowledge, have never been discriminated against because I am a Survivor. If it ever happened, it was probably a group I didn't want to be in to start with. People who discriminate based solely on a title are amateurs at the very least.
IMHO, being a true Survivor increases your PvE awareness. I, for one, have gotten loads beter at watching the mini-map for ambushes and whatnot. I can also tell you the exact moment in a battle to turn and retreat. Now, I may get flamed for this but I don't really care. There comes a point when my death will not matter and we will still fail the mission either way (Thirsty River is a perfect example of this where if group members die and you fall "behind the clock", you're toast). If it's just a random mob that overwhelmed us, I can usually come back and resurrect the party, unless they died right where the mob is camped. Sure, criticize this strategy, but I say many players do not know when they are overmatched and still "hang in there" anyway, which in my opinion is the leading cause of death in GW. I kind of feel bad when my entire dead party asks me to run in and die, but I did draw 10 retreat arrows on the mini-map... OK, I guess I reserve the right to be a jerk in this case. This is why, a majority of the time, I play with henchmen to avoid this situation.
As far as Factions goes, I don't have it, so I can't really comment on it. It does seem kind of lame that a Tyrian 'Survivor''s accomplishment is now marginalized/slighted due to the easier route for the first level of the title in Cantha (*according to other people on this thread*). Anyone who has worked hard and achieved this title has my utmost respect. Anyone who hasn't just doesn't understand...

As of this morning, I completed my trek towards the first level of Survivor on a Ranger. I had seen various pictures of Legendary Survivor with a Ranger, and I realized that it would round out all my characters quite nicely to have a solid ranged character.
Though I went through Cantha, mainly for the faster access to get my new Materials Storage unlocked on the character, I can safetly say that I know much about PVE anyway, after all, my main character is a Protector of Tyria, which is no small accomplishment, mind you, as well as steadily making his way to being a Protector of Cantha as well.
Yeah, I had to exchange some words with a group that got themselves killed. When I realized that my attempt in rezzing would bring my death, I explained that my dying to bring them back would not help matters (as the people I would bring back would need to have a rez, otherwise it's a moot point).
My advice, is get a group of your guild together, everyone who wants a survivor title, and start from scratch. That way, though you have an experienced party, you aren't given an unnatural advantage, like having a level 20 MM slaughtering everything through Zen Daijun.
On my way to the second level, no matter the cost!

Ah so that's why i'm having trouble - my last death was over 254000 exp ago but I have died. - its from level 1 - oh well at least I've been getting good drops, now to start a new character...
Sy Kosys
do believe i am the only one to do this... Cap all 180 skills and get both protectors without dying... For all of you farming xp, or having someone else farm the xp... Whats the point? Honestly...
