Ahhh... the sweet tase of victory...
I know a lot of people saw my threads a while ago about my Ranger that was "supposed" to go for Legendary Survivor. After two failed attempts, one being at Kodonur Crossroads, the other dying to the Lich at the Gate of Madness (That death really pissed me off), I thought to myself that I'm cursed with Rangers and went a different route - A Dervish.
Let me tell you right now - Dervish is easily the most fun class out there, imo.
I've had quite a few scare moments, and most of them were from capping the Avatars. I'll heed you this warning for all aspiring Dervish players going for LS:
TAKE PROTECTIVE SPIRIT IN SOME WAY OR ANOTHER
I nearly crapped myself when I seen the Acolyte of Balthazar do over 300 damage to me. If I didn't leave then, I would've been remaking for the fourth time. This doesn't just go for Balthazar, but for the other Avatars as well (Especially near Grenth with all the patrols).
Some friendly tips that made my trip much easier:
* Going the /Me route helps so much when it comes to Mantras and stances. Just 10 in Inspiration and with Mantra of Flame reduces fire damage by an impressive 42%. This makes those Flame Djinn bosses that do 284 damage with Searing Flames do only 165. Quite a big difference, and you gain a small energy boost
* Take things slowly, and play as if you were under constant lag 24/7. This makes you well aware of your surroundings and allows you to take out small mobs at a time with ease.
* NEVER underestimate the power of any boss. EVER. That's how I lost my Ranger to The Lich in the Gate of Madness. 250+ staff hits a piece = ouch.
* The best Avatar for Dervish players to use for any situation is Avatar of Melandru. +200 health and immune to conditions is a pretty sweet deal. With three Monks, you may as well be invincible, but don't be too wreckless. Remember that when the Avatar ends, you'll have 200 less health, so keep that in mind and always have your health in tip top shape as much as possible.
* Elite skill caps are worth 5,000 XP a piece at level 20. Abuse this.
* Don't wait until it gets too rough in combat. As soon as things go wrong, LEAVE. You can't risk dying, especially when you're so far into the title.
* NEVER EVER EVER go afk to get food, answer the phone, take a crap, piss, or whatever. You'll be suprised at how you think an area is clear, only to come back being ganked by an unfriendly group of hostiles that patrolled by.
There are quite a few other things, but that's all I can think of at the moment. I'll be sure to update this tonight with more tips. Meanwhile, off to Aurora Glade in Tyria
END RESULT:
Elona complete (Time for Cartographer and Protector)
Cantha complete (Same as above)
Just started Tyria yesterday morning
101 Elite skills captured (Didn't even touch Elementalist for reasons)

I really think that getting the survivor title without being power levelled or acting as doorman or any of the other easy ways out makes you a much better player in the long run. I haven't maxed out the title with my ele yet but I'm getting there through playing all the campaigns and capping the skills and generally having fun with it. I fond having a monk secondary was useful at first but I dropped most of them when I got the hang of staying in the fight and staying alive.
Dare I even say it..... I used hench healers most of the time because they are more reliable that players (non guildies that is) and their reactions are instant. I am indebted to my guildie and his infuse health though :P

yes im fighting everything with heroes and hench, olias is great and you really learn how to stay alive. I think after im done getting the title, ill be alot more careful than before. And yes, instant heal from an hero is great

I'm going for legendary survivor on my D/P. I just got survivor the other night and so I have a long way to go.
But I see no point in making it easy. I plan on doing as much solo farming as possible on the way. LOL. I don't expect to make it.
Last night I managed to complete Consolate Docks including bonus with only me and Dunkoro and most importantly without dying. Whee. I got well over 15k XP's for that. Me and Dunkie wandered around Marga Coast and I got at least another 10k XP's. Unfortunately I had to F12 just as I was about to cap a skill due to Dunkie drawing some unfortunate aggro. I'll try again tonight...And no, I'm not using Prot Spirit.

I'm going now for Indomitable Survivor and I am really enjoying. For the first time I'm doing all the quests to earn the 3000xp's each one.
I've corrected GuildWiki, because if you do the mission to ascend in Tyria but already have done Hunted from Elona u don't get 50k xp's.

I took screenshots. I'll post one tonight. I need to go back anyway and cap the dervish elite [skill=text]Pious Renewal[/skill] to complete my build. This time I will use some XP scrolls for more xp's.
The rangers were the most tedious thanks to their stupid [skill=text]Whirling Defense[/skill], although their liberal use of [skill=text]Infuriating Heat[/skill] came in handy. It was really funny when I would accidentally kill the spirit and all 6 rangers would stop what they were doing to resummon it. The ele boss went down without a whimper.

I got the first tier title today......however, I actually died at around level 15ish (cant remember)
Maybe it was a glitch or something but I was walking around Fahhir the First City, not paying attention because I had cleared the area, then WAMMO!!! one of those weights dropped from the ceiling......crushing me, killing me instantly.
I stared at my screen (draw dropped) for a couple of minutes I realized that I had not received a DP and in fact had a morale boost +6. I cautiously typed "/deaths" and was relived when it showed I had died 0 times. Phew.

Basically just make Dunkoro a bonder and flag him far away from combat. And bring plenty of self-healing and damage yourself. I'm still tweaking my build. When I am done, I'll post it.

From what I understand One team has a player and norgu. The player with norgu is repeatly killed by the guild thief, and repeatly rezed. The other team is you(the survivor) guild thief and a monk incase anything happens.
I think you leave your game on over night and you gain something like 500k exp. I got that number from a friend but it seems like you wouldnt gain that much.
If you want to gain some Exp fast a good thing to do is solo heket outside Tihark(sp?) Orchard, where you kill heket with a group of 6 vabbian guards. This is very easy if you are a monk :P but if you want to grab some extra exp its a good choice instead of cheating.

Read the following below. It's a pasted version of what I reported to Guild Wars.com. I just added some text (not reported to them):
Today a friend helped me powerlevel a level 3 Dervish at his guild hall by letting me kill his level 20 character a bunch of times. (By This process can be done in 13 minutes by you taking your low leveled character with a guild thief and letting them kill a level 20 (unarmored) character while their Mesmer/Ritualist hero resurrects them everytime enough for you to repeat this process until you reach survivor) and I know this IS NOT illegal. It felt great starting off with this powered up character to help take on a supposedly easy area of the game. However, there is a BIG PROBLEM.
The Sunspear Scouts that grants you the rights to bounty kill monsters to gain Sunspear points WON'T ALLOW ME TO and to pass the primary quest: THE HONORABLE GENERAL you need to earn the title Second Sunspear. To do so you need to gain 175 Sunspear points. Guess what? You can't and all the quests you are able to obtain only get you to earn up to 129. Without being able to complete this quest, you can not proceed with the game. It's unfair because of the time and energy put into this game.
Please fix the bug. I'm going to let an entire community on Guild Wars Guru know of this sham. Please report this to the game technicians responsible and to fix such a mess. Characters can powerlevel off Prophecies and Factions, so it should be fair for those who take the time to prepare their characters fairly to have a fun time with Guild Wars.
I have attached a screen shot to show some proof of this matter.

My screenshot, shortly after experiencing "Death-by-Kunvie". 6 of 8 of my party died almost instantly, the other 2 followed quickly thereafter. The strange thing is, I capped Ride the Lightning, and Shadow Shroud right before this, and Kunvie's mob was somewhat difficult, but not game-breaking. This time, however, I understand what people say about this monster mob, as it resulted in the immediate death of 3/4 of my party.
Oh well, you roll the dice, and eventually you come up snake eyes.
I feel I did fairly well, especially considering this was my first time with any character to go beyond Boreas Seabed in Cantha.
1 short of all Tyrian, and Canthan elite skills(179). Just over 2 million xp. Other than repeatedly doing Kilroy Stoneskin quests for more skillpoints(I had run out, you see, from capping elites), none of my xp was acquired through anything but missions, quests, and capping elites.

I got my survivor title by making char in tyria, run to LA, take the quest to Canthan (get max armor here), then run down to marketplace, take the boat to newbie island, and start doing all the fedex quests here, marketplace and keining, should be lvl15-16 in an hour, go back to tyria, get ran through the accension missions, accended, your now lvl20. average time it took me to do this on 4 chars was 3 hours.
Cowboy Nastyman
just finished my ranger suvivor in 54 hours, 146 elites capped nealry every quest in all of cantha and elona done very fun experience to do the legit way
Velvet Wing
Done my ranger survivory all by myself, with henchies, in Cantha was a real fun experience (adrenaline pumping when your life goes down till about a quarter )
After that, I decided to survivor my paragon.. And since I don't like the whole kamadan region, this was very very very (I repeat) very tedious.. I finally managed to get it, but for some reason, I couldn't be as thrilled as when I got survivor on my ranger
