Survivor Title Guide!

let me recommend (as my 470k xp ranger who f'd up the pull in the mursaat base in ring of fire (alt-f4 didn't work this time) and apparently died) that you remember to de-pimp your heroes out before deleting your character.
i'll second getting heroes ealry. i made a prophecies ranger and after going post-searing, ran her to la with my second account and got the lvl15 heroes and al 70 armor. ascalon missions go really quick with the lvl 15s (plus they're practically 20 by the time you start getting tired of tyria and start moving to the other campaigns).
i'll be taking my next attempt at ranger out of pre-searing when i get home. i definitely recommend making a character that's the same class as your main. i did a couple of monk attempts before deciding that i'd make another ranger. even though i don't suck with monk, i do much better with ranger (which is my primary class).

I've gotten my R1 Survivor with a newly created Sin (who says Sins die a lot? ). I went to Elona as soon as I could and picked up my Heroes. With them, I went back to Cantha and coasted through a lot of high XP quests. Now, I'll play through Factions and, hopefully, get to R2.

That first post was kind of sad. If you have to get run to beacons then to droks for max armor early on, then you aren't really a survivor.
There is a difference between a survivor and a Coward.
If you wanna cheat your way to a title, go buy some unids, or pay someone to run around and get masters for you in all the missions. This is not the title for you.

I know this may seem like cheating to a lot of you, but I've made numerous attempts at this title and am finally frustrated enough to advertise.
I suffer from a bad connection and a network of four computer sapping my meager download capacity. Because of this I often lag badly, and am sometimes disconnected from the server altogether. The highest rank I've gotten alone is Indomitable, and even then I'd only barely gone past the 580k mark before a massive lag spike finished me off.
I'm looking for a partner who'd be willing to buddy me through Factions (Looking to get a Rit LS) to the point where I could either Faction Farm or continue with the campaigns or Elite Cap the rest of the way.
I'm more than willing to amply compensate the volunteer for their time and efforts. (In-game compensation of course).
If you're willing, the best character to add me under is Selk Dancer.
Thanks guys, and I hope to hear from somebody soon.

I need some advice.
I have a para survivor at around 305k xp and in factions i'm at nahpui and in elona at moddok crevice. I'm going to go into Vabbi with her for more para elites etc but is it worth going any further into factions? from previous characters i know it gets a bit rough from then on(like tahnnaki temple with loads of afflicted mobs). so should i go any further in factions or keep going in Elona?

I mean, technically, you don't need max armor, but it helps a ton, and if you end of fighting your way to LA to get max armor, I don't see that as cowardice

Well I'm at 120k XP with my Dervish and 0 deaths... still a long ways to go though -.-
And what is the best way to get XP fast if I don't have factions? There are about 90 elite skills in Prophecies but that won't be enough. There might be another 50 that I will reach in Elona because I don't plan on going past the Desolation (wurms are so pathetically weak -.-). If each elite gives 5k XP then I'll need 267 for 1337k XP, 247 since I already have 100k XP. I'll probably get another 300k XP from missions and stuff, but then I'll still need 180 caps. I don't have enough money nor skill points for that -.-

My monk got part power lvld but hey, i found it out myself and leaked it on the forums and 2 days later the bug got fixed. So at least im not a leecher =)
But this ele got the title by questing til 600K exp and mad skill capping after =)

Its easy with paragon.
You have ranged attack and the strong armour makes you not much targeted by mobs. Right now im at 250K exp and havent had much difficulty getting there, im just doing all missions/quests in NF and Factions and cap every paragon elite, after that ill see what I do next.
I might do an AB with him as well, because it will make the title more awesome

I have survivor on my most char, The best tip - If your in an area where there is a chance you will die then have your guild screen open in a corner somwhere.
If you go below say 200 hp then click the button to travel to your guild hall, It works MUCH better then ALT+F4 or logging out. Trust me I know

dude theres something even more dumb than forgetting to remove the goodies from your heroes, listen to this guys (yes, i'm a dumbass..)
i started my necro in factions (currently its going much better im already lvl 15 will soon be rank 1) and went to Xunlai to get all my cash out (i thought i would need it for armours/etc) and then he died later for some annoying reason (oh yes it was that lvl 6 kappa that is completely overpowered immo vs lvl 4 chars) and i (in a sudden rage, it was like my 6th or 7th attempt) deleted the char.
so my 46k went with it.
46,000 Gold.

Is it possible to do Angury Rock (Mission) in Prophecies with a Canthan char and not do any missions before it? If not how many must be done first?
cheers (51,000 xp is no measly amount, especially considering its only for killing one lousy bastard).

this title in its first tier is not very hard to attain if one starts in Factions, as has been mentioned before.
you can be easily lvl 20 by the time you leave Shing Jea Island, provided you do every single quest on the island, as well as the one for all professions, and if you use scrolls of experience.
i reached 177,000xp and died, however, in The Undercity, was going in there to do Assist the Guards, still had many Kaineng City/Wajjun Bazaar/Bukdek Byway/Bejunkan Pier/... quests to do (about 20,000 or so xp in them), and that elementalist Am Fah boss fell from the skies and after i slaughtered his mob and the one behind me (yes its about 12 Am Fahs total and you are surrounded) he killed me in 2 strikes with his lightning overpowered lamepackage.
This is quite frustrating. I had 100 minutes of drunkenness and 4 Sweet Tooth points, as well as 1 Tyria, 2 Cantha and more to come missions completed. Was about to do Dunes of Despair and Thirsty River to go to my doppelganger and get that 50,000 xp...
is there any way for a Necro/Mesmer to not be killed by these ele freaks?
I mean their attacks are so over the roof....how can a lvl 24 boss slosh me in 2 strikes? Isn't it a bit lame? I had max armour (from Voldo the Exotic) and Ghial's Staff..
oh well..
gonna start again.
And yes after these experiences maybe it is best to just do something safe to get most of the XP for this title, coz even though i *only* waste 27 hours on this char, its still 27 hours of my time..
Anyhow good luck to anyone out there going for it! I guess the safest bet is have Monk as either primary or secondary profession, so im gonna say F*** mesmer and be a Necro/Mo, to always have self-heal available and not just Soul Feast and Taste of Death.

Well if you haven't noticed, Bosses in Factions and Nightfall do double damage so thats why you got killed in 2 hits. You don't need to change your secondary to Monk for survivor, I can think of three ways (from a defensive perpective) that might help you survive against ele bosses.
1. Assuming your an MM, try using Dark Bond. It should be able to help you survive damage from Enemies in general provided that you have some minions with you
2. Protective spirit is very helpful. I don't think any of the Factions henchmen have it so, so you'll need a friend to bring it or if you have access to nightfall, you can make a monk hero bring it and make that hero use it on you.
3. Um, i Guess you could bring that ritualist henchmen that Has Shelter, which is basically Protective spirit for the entire party. I Don't know when he uses shelter, but it should be able to last long enuf to prevent a bit of major spike damage.
There are plenty of ways to deal with bosses but these are the only tips I could think of right now.
Good luck to you again if you try it, 27 hours isn't that bad, its worst when you spend several weeks going slowly, playing carefully through Prophecies, and then deciding to go AFK for 5 seconds and then finding out you got killed by a siege attack...:/

Forget about the survivor title. It's garbage and bugged. I got to 400k exp and it said I died, but I never did. I watched my characters exp, it was fine, no deaths. I played for awhile and didn't even come close to death at any point. I checked deaths and it said 1.
A friend of mine also died in town apparently. Checked his deaths, said 0. Went afk for a couple hours came back, 1 death.
anet has some scripting to do on the death counter.

A ton of skill caps, if that debases it for you, but also the Prophecies campaign completed up through Defend Droknar's Forge (20,000 xp ftw!), and ZERO time spent adventuring with flaky, unreliable human players.
Marverick
Is it a good idea to do the other Titan Quests? Without using "flaky, unreliable human players" you only get a group of four because level 3-15 henchmen are useless.... but together the Titan Quests give 130k XP in addition to combat so... yea
DCD
You can do Last Day Dawns with heroes only, and if you're daring AND have reliable guildies you can try the others. The trouble is that you have high level enemies coming at you from multiple directions at once, and as noted before being surrounded is never good for a survivor. There's also the coward route of having guildies fight the battle whilst you hide somewhere far away, but that is cheesy.
Ironically, the Titan Source quest is much easier than the three defend quests before it. It's a shame you can't just skip to that one.

1 up and 2 down
Well, I had managed to get the first survivor tier with my sin and managed to get up to about 450k exp then while doing the Nahpui quarter mission I died to a ranger spike. I got really mad so I didn't try to survive the rest of the mission and I never even died -.-. So I started over again and hopefully I won't die this time. This time I won't try Nahpui with a hench/hero team, next time it will be with guildies.

Nice Guide
I was always to lazy to make a Ranger but i wanted one, figured if I am gonna do it let's do it proper.

Another one:
The most important thing (right after a stable connection) for aspiring survivors in my experience is high health. Not because high health means you can take more damage before you die, but because of how mobs prioritize their attacks: They go after low health targets first. That's why having a Minion Master (hero) is incredibly useful (minions have lower levels and thus lower health). Boost yourself up to ~600 health and mobs will completely ignore you, most of the time. You won't need high armor if nothing actually attacks you.

and soloing for this title isnt *non challenging* because your all alone you could die at any time with one false move or lucklessness. It's not a cheap way to gain exp but really a more experienced way of doing it if you are move afraid of venturing into one area or another for certain quests because the monsters out their. also now sense nightfall their are the insect hunting and corsair hunter ect things at the shrines which will give you double exp on those kills and scrolls will make it even higher.

Great first post with lots of great advice. IMO every second playing trying to get this crazy title, you run the risk of dying no matter what you do (whether it be capping, questing, missions, farming etc...) but I do agree with the powerleveling comment as the wrong way to attain this title as that eliminates the risk (why have this title without the risk? kind of goes with no guts no glory... oh well).
Good luck to everyone trying to get this title! Fun and frustrating and a lot of holy crap moments!
... and still continuing to level.
