Survivor Title Guide!

Trying to get survivor title in Cantha is a nightmare! I'm sure its been said before, if you are starting off in factions get to Kaineng City and leave lol.

basicly - the easiest way i ever did it:
1. have one character complete Nightfall (to unlock HM)
2. make your character Cross the Desolation
3. cap Barrage - the easiest way is to cap it doing The Great Escape (e.g saving Private Koosy!) - nice to go ranger secondary for that so that you can cap it while you do the quest - or switch secondaries, go to the Sunspear Sanctuary and spam to get a pug for the quest.
4. zealous flatbow
5. farm Battle for Turai in HM - each Margy drops 300 xp - theres like 70 of them - which means some 20k xp per run which makes some 100k per hour!

skills and heroes
since Razzy is endgame youll need somebody else to cast Splinter. my favourite is a necro hero since that way he can take BiP also! that makes it much easier if youre leveling up a 2-energy-pips char! youll need to micro-manage the skills though! meaning youll have to make the hero cast SW on you everytime you run back!
the ranger hero (or any other hero actually since 12 is perefctly fine) with spirits that you flag and.
i take Koosy so that he brings Charge! so that we run past the foes faster.
all heroes on AVOID!

if you fail to kill all foes and end up with only a few left - dont bother with them! just jump to the outpost and start again!

its (almost!) free - which is insanely important after the whole loot-scaling fiasco - and quite fast once you get to the farming!

You all say to start in tyria, but what about ascalon academy? Wouldn't you get killed in the pvp?

you load up the arena and then you LEAVE before the match starts - close GW.
when you re-start - you end up at the 'run with the mad rurik' mission.
you skip the pvp fight that way!

In order to get that quest, you have to be at least 1/2 through the NF campaign. Which by that time, you have either 1)died 2)almost gotten to Legendary Survivor.

my ranger is currently sitting at around 180k xp and his at the Chantry. so my guess is that hell cross the desolation at around 250k xp. (hes only capping ranger elites) my paragon crossed the desolation and reached the Bone Palace just a few k short of tier 2 of survivor after capping tons of elites (pretty much all paragon, warrior and ranger skills that i ran into! and the occasional mesmer one) before starting to farm Turai.
the downside:
it takes a bit longer to get there - but then again you kinda are PLAYING a game and not PREPARING to play it.
the positive:
its insanely cheap - one need to cap 1 elite and buy some 3 skills - the rest can be obtained by either advancing in the sunspear ranks or just use the free skills you get at the start of the game.

so no - you dont reach Legendary or die (unless one sucks - BUT if one unlocked HM already that means that they know what they will face and one should be able to get to torment withe heroes without really dying since the game is pretty darn easy up to that point!) by the time one crosses the Desolation.

After 32 hours my elementalist got killed by that stupid fireflower in the holdings of chokin -_- wont delete her but now im going to level another character for the title now I want to know what should I make? :/ I have absolutely no clue and im in for a challenge :P

(oh also I dont have a monk/mesmer/assassin and paragon so suggestions?)

Paragon got it by farming Turai.
the old ones got it by capping elites and doing TONS of quests.

I want to make a monk with LS 3, is it a good idea to take a guildmate with the Turai Quest and simply cast Splinter Weapon on him? Do I gain XP this way?

If it is not too much trouble, and not already posted, perhaps someone could put a little info on the turning Am Fah off(or jade brotherhood) or whatever. I dont really remember those quests, or that area too well.

so basically youd have to cast Splinter on him AFTER the foes become aware of him. so hed have to Barrage, you cast SW and him barrage AGAIN and THEN RUN.
where as the normal sequence is Barrage+run (and SW cast OUTSIDE or BEFORE battle).

and with 2 players in a team - doing HM - youd only get 150 xp per kill. which is another downside.

Finally my ranger got the title! Never expected to get rank 3 but when I hit 700k exp I decided to try and finish it off. All questing and skill caps for this one, I also have a monk with survivor rank 1 but to be honest I wouldn't like to get another one as I had a few near misses with game crashes that I don't want to repeat.

Farmed Turai a bit again - and almost completed C1 - stuck at the last mission after the heroes and hench went INSANE and i almost got killed!

pidjee - No, once you've earnt a rank in the title, you keep it no matter how many times you die - progress just stops. The only time the title track will disappear is if you die BEFORE hitting Survivor [1].


Just finished it a few minutes ago - SO thrilled
All quests, missions and skill caps, mostly in Cantha. All henched. Just over 100 hours in total.

My advice would be, be prepared, know the game, concentrate, and bump your HP up as high as you can - with HP in the 600s, the enemies will barely look at you, no matter how squishy you are.
Oh, and above all, be confident! If you know you can do it, you will.

Don't complete that quest, and they never attack you.

This is going to be the death of me. I have a compulsive disorder so when I find out about things such as this I have to get them.

I deleted my lv20 when I gave a hero a second profession accidentally during the sneak peek and couldn't undo it. It makes things that should be fun less so.

I got to lvl 1 survivor but got killed by temple guardians in the Tahnnakai Temple mission, I don't think I will restart though, it was my 2nd try, but gd luck to any1 else going for any of the lvl's

I got Legendary Survivor on my Warrior after much effort and time... That's what I get for making a proph character =/ OH and don't forget the wonders and joys of getting scammed out of runs...

Also as far as I know the fastest POSSIBLE way to get LS is in around 6 hours (after hitting level 20) with a fire/earth ele. I could swear there was a thread on it in guru but I cant find it. In either case it just involved zoning in and out of an area in the proph campaign on HM to kill 8-10 Minotaur while a scroll was active. That's essentially what I did... But me being as paranoid as I am I took 2 hero bonders and left them out of range so that I didn't have to share XP.

I guess the best way to go for survivor is just get max armor ASAP, and find a safe spot to kill enemies that wield a nice amount of xp. Or if you have the extra cash you could always cap elites, just be careful around Mesmers and Necromancers... Especially boss ones, I know lots of people who have died because of a lost enchant.

I'll second depimping your heroes before deleting. I've done that. Expensive.

I Got the legendary Survivor Title on my monk after some help to Lutgardis. And have been FFF-ing and HFF-ing till i got the title i think thats the easiest way to earn it.

Next time you update this can you please add stuff that isn't common sense to your guide?

i have legendary survivor on several characters. i've found the easiest way to survive is to have the henchmen and heroes do all the killing and dying for you. if you don't want to feel completely useless, take ritualist as your secondary and go straight healing. with the advent of the ritualist profession, any character with 4 pips of energy regeneration can be a fairly decent healer. this includes all the casters, assassin, and dervish. for my warrior, i played a supporting role by using a spear and spamming "watch yourself" and other helpful shouts.

wooot GJ i wanna try that...what did u do if they wanted u to run backup cause some1 died? or did u go with a guild?

fff can be done with just heroes and henchmen - no deaths involved.

I'm busy working towards Legendary Survivor, just hit rank 2 last night, 6 hours grinding undead outside bergen. ¬.¬!!! Had a few close calls to mapping out at 3hp but i've found that farming outside here is pretty simple with a monk.

Undead feed you a nice 252xp on hard mode, so assuming you can tank from level 1 and survive :P

Roughly 557 Undead will get you to 140,600 xp (rank 1)

Roughly 2331 Undead will get you to 587,500 xp (rank 2)

Roughly 5307 Undead will get you to 1,337,500 xp (rank 3)

This is only assuming that you start from Level with with no xp and aren't using any scrolls. So lets say you have rank 1, 1773 undead roughly will get you to rank 2. ^^

It took me about 4-6 hours to get from rank 1 to 2. So I guess it's another 4-6 hours more grinding to rank 3.

I'm using a modification of the Dual SB/Smite bonder combo. You can easily use a hero as the bonder, just flag them away and set them to avoid combat.

DO NOT FORGET TO DISABLE ALL HERO SKILLS!!!111

Otherwise they'll cast a bond then remove it. :P

The bonder's skills are this: Purge Signet, Peace and Harmony, Blessed Signet, Holy Wrath, Retribution, Life Attunement, Vital Blessing and Rebirth.

The tank skills (600hp tank *My Survivor Monk*): Sheild of Absorbtion, Spirit bond, Protectve Spirit, Essence Bond, Balthazar's Spirit and Blessed Aura.

No Elite needed. Although i'm a Monk/Rt and haven't capped any useful skills. :P My character is only 24 hours old. But still, i'd advise this build for monks wanting survivor title, it's quick, easy, get to work on your id title to. Had a few nice gold drops, white dyes and an elite necro tome to.

So you could problably get this title in about 40 hours depends how quickly you can level up to 20 and get to Bergen. And if you can be bothered doing the same ol run. :P I'd also suggest the use of scrolls...and good music. ^^

I got my rank 3 in 35 hours. Was a bit boring doing the grind but well worth it!

Got my to survivor 1 today which probably seems unimpressive to most but it's the first time I've managed not to bite the dust at least once before lvl 20.

best skills for staying alive are dark escape + frightened neutrality. the damage reduction is sick. skill capping is a waste of money. with eotn out now legendary survivor is much easier to do by questing.

I think this guide needs to be updated.

Dwarven Boxing yeilds just under 15k exp in 6~8 mins with a scroll if Hero's Insight, and has virtually no risk of death.
edit: on NORMAL mode

In HM dwarfen boxing is one of fasters way to get LS.
I done it with my W/a,which died at 1,300,684xp due to Anet server lagging.
One run gave me 33k xp,taked 11min.

i have a half written guide on dwarfen boxing
and yes it is the fastest way to get LS3 with no risk of death.

a 250% scroll + HM + efficiency = 55k XP 7 minute run.

there is a faction cap of 700 per stone summit killed while under the effects of a scroll. so dont use triple scrolls.

Wish Dwarven Boxing was around when I was maxing this title out. lol

Anyhow, good luck to all going for the title. If you're not using the Dwarven Boxing method, watch your aggro and don't rush it.

Today I had 0 deaths before I did Ruins of Morah. I did not die during the mission. Kill Commander Varesh, skip cine-and bam I've got a death. WTF?!?! Pretty lame... I don't know what the problem is. Anyone heard of this happening?

Unfortunately yes -.- My first ele died in a cinematic and I had to remake her. I didn't skip though, so I'm not too sure why yours died if you skipped, unless you were being attacked as the cinematic cut in.

Ah well, I was just going for giggles on the title-don't really care about it, was fun while it lasted though.

I was so hell-bent on getting Legendary Survivor cuz it suited my ele's name.......and then of course once I got it (7 angry tries later mind you) like 5 other Legendary title options came out -.-
