A beautiful mind behind a beautiful name
ateddybear
A Teddy Bear - Monk - an Alias of mine in many online games
Princess of Fall - Ranger - meant to be a parody of some dude with a ranger named "The Prince of Fall". Name is crap but I can't get myself to remake her with a better game
A Teddi Bear - Necro - A Spinoff of the "A Teddy Bear" name
Captain Senseless - Warrior - I was originally trying to make myself seem like the typical wammo without any senses.
Stacy Keibler - Dervish - Wanted a name of a sexy girl, originally went for Teagan Presley and went through alot of hot girls. Came to this one when I was browsing the internet
Recursive Algorithm - Paragon - My friend and I were talking about computer science at the time, making fun of the teacher when this came up.

Well I generally try to fit the namer type with the character type, oriental names for Factions, Arabic and Egyptian type names for Nightfall, and more high fantasy names for Prophecies.
Jareth Godhand (W/E)-Named to continue the proud lineage of my old zealadin in D2 who's name was Paris Godhand.
Skylar Witherleg(R/E)-originally designed for a snaring build, he worked rather well in that capacity hence his last name there. Skylar just sounded good with Witherleg to me.
Moloch Bloodfist(N/Me)-This is another D2 hold over. My first dueling char on there was a bone necro named Simeon Bloodfist and he was incredibly awesome so of course my SS necro had to continue the family name. Moloch just sounds creepy.
Sai Daimyo(N/Mo)-My MM was named mostly because I like the way those two words go together. Said of course everyone knows what that is. Daimyo is mostly used as a title designating the leader of a clan. She does lead around a pack of minions so there ya go.
Hsia Spiritsword(Rit/N)- This one is a work in progress and can do some incredibly nasty things. Originally I inteded to use mostly spirits till I found out they don't move and the ones I wanted to use didn't cast quick enough. Right now this is a Golem based character that can do some incredibly nasty damage. Hsia is actually the name of an Asian restaraunt near my house but it sounds so nice when you hear the cute cashier answer the phone...
Ichio Darkflame(E/Me)- Another Factions character. This is an obsidian flame based geomancer hence the last name.
Motoko Kusanagi(A/R)-My critical barrager, named after the major from GitS. This is my only "rip-off" name but I love the series so much and the female assassin faces and hair can render a very convincing Motoko look-a-like.
Emoa-My black Moa pet. I had to I mean look at him. The slightly disheveled and askew feathers, the black coloration, the spikey collar and ankle bands that just scream" Life is Pain".

Algeron Zolo
I only have one character with a significant name-Algeron Zolo. He is a W/Mo and my first character.
Algeron- Flowers of Algeron, a story I read in English class that was really cool.
Zolo- A One Piece rip off!! yes, yes, I am ashamed. A 15 year old should not watch crappy pseudo-japanese anime, but oh well...
BTW, Algeron IS the person on fire in my avatar photo

Ranger :: Destinys Desire account 2 was listening to a song i have called destinys desire (by a korean singer) and i was out of ideas so i just used it ;d Warrior :: Im So Cute account 1 this name was originally my pvp slot, which was usually a monk, and it well suited her. then i decided to make a warrior, didn't wanna give up the name. so i had no choice to name my warrior this. i've gotten a handful of compliments on this name on my way through ascension and RoF. lol Elementalist :: Scarlet Kiss account 2 name was just random name i drew up, was originally my FPE ritualist, but had to delete her cuz no more FPE x.x and i used the name on my elementalist. Ritualist :: Petite Charat account 1 another pvp slot for a monk, decided to make a ritualist had no choice to name her this. ;p google it if you dunno! Assassin :: Soco Krystal account 1 after the drink Southern Comfort, krystal cuz i <3 krystal (pretty name/word). commercial was on tv when i made it. so yeh >.> all my names are pretty straight foward, and somewhat related to what class they are. :P i r not that creative to make out unique names out of teh blue? T-T |
Necromancer :: Lady Virulent
Lady, cause.. for obvious reasons. Virulent, well suited for a Necro.
Ranger :: Gin Joo
Wanted something "cutsey" But I guess it's hard to tell if your not corean. Lol.
Gin Joo means Pearl in corean.
Elementalist :: Krystal Jadore
Krystal, same reason as the above character with Krystal in her name.
Jadore because I heart Christian Dior.
Paragon :: Melodic Angel
My friend had the name Melodic in a game I used to play. Seemed well suited for a Paragon, as well as adding the "Angel" secondary.
Dervish :: Lady Exquisite
Lady from my previous character. Exquisite because.. I always wanted to make a character name with Exquisite in it somewhere :P
As it is now as it was back then. My names are all pretty straight forward.
Originality is key.
kurtas
Kurtas Von Awsome - my warrior
Monkey Mc Awsome - my monk
Caster Mc Ownage - my ele
Ranger Mc Snipe - my ranger
Paragon Mc Awsome - my paragon

Main : Sani Ty: First char that made it past 2 weeks and only that passed the 2 mounths barrier. She's Me/Mo but I expected her to play healing (what I did for 70% of the storyline, the time it took me to actually use a Mes build) and sanity seems like a rather useful trait for a healer.
Leiche Beauty (Necro) : where I got the word leiche, i think it was suposed to mean cadaver. That looked like a good idea for a corpse-heavy necro. She's at ascension and on her way to deletion (does that even exist?).
Oka Ne (A/R?) : (haven't chosen the second class yet) Okane means money in japanese, so that sounded fitting for an assasin, plus it sounds feminine to me so the char is a female. Second time I use the name, both char were assasins.
Cle Ave (PvP war) : only name that I found that I really liked for a war, plus it looks cool when seen on screen. Only other I found that was acceptabel was Cka Hoss (a twist of Chaos).
Tatsu No Honoo (Me/E) : The name means Dragon's Fire, sounded cool for a FC fire-nuker, created him a week before the AI change, couldn't get him to work the way I wanted him to work. Got deleted after spending 6k on pointless skills.
After that one I started to toy with small japanese phrases as names:
Future project 1 : Sun of SanSebastian (MO/D? smiter) : The first char I create as soon as I get NF. The name comes from a Sonata Arctica tune (San Sebastian, for those that care), the tune is not REALLY great but i'm hooked to the lyrics (who are not so special in fact). I'm not sure if I could get problem because i'll be using San Sebastian in it, if I take another it would probably be in the lines of "I am Justice" in japanese (got that sentense in my head since I finished downloading Death Note). Sun of SanSebastian would lead to a female character while I am Justice could be used for a male character.
Future project : Chikara Ga Boku No (D/?) : "Power is mine", I'm curently toying with a Spell caster Dervish build, the name sounds harsh what seems perfect for a male Dervish. And the way I imagine a "priest" taping the power of the god to attack, it's either in the way of the monk (divine judgement) or the "elemantal prayers" (agresive manifestation). I'm not sure if the build will ever work though, I wouldn't like to have to forget the name.

Sol_Vie
Thanato Dividicus- R/* - Thanato is my main handle in games, online or not. Dividicus is a strong sounding last name (also mostly invented- it just sounds like my first name). Thanatos is a God of Death but his name seems to be always taken so I adapted and started using Thanato. So far, so good.
Sol Vie- E/Me - Another handle of mine, one I'm more well known for, though not my favorite. My other variation of this name is SolGrave/SoulGrave.
Tzelph Tyrael - N/Me - Totally made up name. I was going for a dark sounding name and some voice in the back of my head was recommending two T names.
Gwuenyhvar Dividicus - Rt/Mo - Dividicus was already explained. Gwuenyhvar is 1) a beautiful name and 2) from the Dark Elf Trilogy (highly recommended books).
Rhalia Theramonth - P/W - It was my PvP char name for ages, just turned it into a real char. No story behind the name- just made it up.
Masami Kusanagi- Me/Mo - Name is partially taken from GITS: SAC. I wanted an Asian sounding name.
Mitsurugi Kusanagi - Mo/Me - Same as with my Mesmer.
Rhadamanth I Nemes - Assassin - Rhadamanth Nemes is a character in another favorite series of mine. However, that name as it is was taken, so I threw the I in there.
Cynthia Charrsbane - W/* - Cynthia sounded like a good name. The "Charrsbane" is blatantly self explanatory and cliche. But eh...
So there are all my chars. I loves em.

Bob Whills
Bob Whills (war)- After a Waylon Jennings song entitled "Bob Wills is still the king".
Dwayna Sent (monk)- Generic pixilated diety reference that sounded alright.
Dana Her (ranger)- Maureen O Hara played Mary Kate Danaher in the 1942 John Wayne flick "The Quiet Man". Enjoyable movie that no one remembers.
Anthem Razed (mez)- Pun intended. Partially based off of my dislike of Ayn Rand's novel, mostly representative of the mesmer role as anti-everything.
Siswai Volante (para)- gratuitous clashing of Wheel of Time and Spanish vocabularies.
Eclectic or eccentric you make the call...

Morgoth the dark
All my chars are based around a character made by J.R.R Tolkien in his books of middle world - Morgoth. HE was kinda bad guy but i picked up that name since 1 beta and i like it
maienGerl
Angel Of May - the 'english' translation for my orginal nickname ' Maiengerl '. I'm born in may, and that name sounded somewhat cute, so I chose it..
Akasha Darkblood - Pretty Obivious, a Necromancer.. Akasha is the Queen of the Damned, and Darkblood, as it somewhat fits the profession and sounds well.. (I can't recall how often people called my char a copy of the 'Kasha Blackblood' in Pre/Post-Searing >.<)
Valentina Luna - My Ritualist, Valentina is one of my favorite names, that's why I chose it. Luna, because I was on a 'kitty-ish' trip, and Luna would fit as a last name, without making it sound too silly (Like Valentina Kitty )
Andromeda Yasmina - My warrior, created as I was having fun with a friend (who I enjoy to dominate at times~ ). Andromeda stands in amazonian for 'Manruler' and Yasmina, again cause I loved the sound of the name.
The rest of my chars are usually May The (Insert Profession Here) since most people called me May anyhow ~

Alt F Four
My necromancer is named Alt F Four.

In retrospect, the name would of been better on a shutdown mesmer.

DarkWasp
I expected about 80% of the community to use Japanese words or names in their character names. To be different, and quite frankly more fitting to my tastes, I chose names from around here in America and Europe.
All of my characters follow my storyline, and I looked up the names AFTER creating the story. However, the meanings fit right in.
Raymond Varis
The name Raymond is German, it means protector. Raymond is the owner and protector of a large city to the west of Tyria.
Character: Ranger, Male, 28
Blaire Varis Fomerly Blaire Everest, formerly Burke, formerly Amy
Blaire means "from the fields". Blaire was born "Amy", but her mother got attacked and her father wussed out on making the commitment of taking care of her. She was found in field by the terrorist racist Khajitt family "The Burkes" and she was given the name Burke. Living with them was hell so she ran away to the wilderness and lived there for a while.
Character: Ranger, Female, 27
Varis
The last name Varis came from Morrowind: Tribunal, there was a character named Gee-Pop Varis. Though Blaire was changed (by blood) to Everest by Dwayna, she became a Varis after she married Raymond shortly after.
Evening Reader Everest Formerly Evening Reader Varis, formerly Everning Reader Everest
Evening was born an Everest, thought the family was so large that it was split up in groups within the district. As for the gardening shift Evening and her brother Joseph were asigned to the same time. They talked while on shift and Evening fell in love, she later remembered that he was her brother and felt awkward and ran away. Raymond and Blaire found her in ascalon and she became like a daughter to them, though they were not married at the time. As a wedding gift and birthday present to Raymond shortly after he married Blaire, Dwayna changed Evening's blood to their blood so she by blood would be their daughter. Reader was no longer Joseph's sister and they fell in love again and got married a few years later.
Character: Necromancer, Female, 20
Everest
The first family to take on a last name.
Wendy Wispwind
Evening's friend. (I JUST looked that one up, and woah PERFECT. It means friend.)
Character: Elementalist, Female, 17
Agent Strawberry Adrian Scarpino
A member of the Strawberry Division of the Agency of Forbidden Fruits. Very much attracted to Wendy
Character: Assassin, Male, 21
Father Nicodemus
Nicodemus means "People's Victory". Father Nicodemus and Dwayna are considered Angels in the story. Nicodemus helped VERY MUCH in building Raymond's city. Later admitted to being Blaire's original father, all is forgiven.
Character: Paragon, Male, 892
Daniel The Villager
Hes a villager, aaaaand that sums it up.
Character: Monk, Male, 19
Victory In Paradise
Sort of an inside joke. It's what I would name a honeymoon suite
Character: PvP

Stemnin
When I first tried out WoW, I made a Tauren, (they were so cool in WC3), I wanted to name it similar to the Tauren NPCs in the game, and american-indian/first nation chief kind of name, it was something woodfist, every character in pve that i've made have ended with woodfist, usually first names come from warcraft or other fantasy games. For pvp i usually go with a character name related to the build or the main skill in the build, such as for aoe smiting, err of enchanting or stuff like that.
Darkobra
I always try to use Darkobra in my names, and use a first name to identify/relate to the class. Darkobra is a name I created 5 years ago and have used ever since in everything I do.
Lord Darkobra: A powerful elementalist with class and wit. Worthy of the title Lord.
Kenpachi Darkobra: Kenpachi is the Japanese title given to those who love to fight.
Divine Darkobra: The divine healer.
Archangel Darkobra: The holy paragon.
Kage Kobura: Shadow Cobra. The Assassin.
Shinigami Darkobra: Shinigami is Japanese for Angel of Death/The Soul Reaper. An appropriate title for the dervish.
Necrotic Darkobra: This one was named after one of my all time favourite skills at the time, Necrotic Traversal.
Genjutsu Kobura: The Cobra of Illusion. Great for a mesmer. The irony is that I'm a domination mesmer.
You can tell a lot about a person by their name, their actions and their words.

ElinoraNeSangre
I try to put a lot of thought into my names overall.
From Prophecies:
Elinora Ne Sangre: N/Me. Ne comes from my first GW character, Rildran Ne Agrenene; he was a PVP assassin during the PVP preview event. Ne stuck around; I don't remember how I came up with all of that, but I wanted a name that wasn't just first and last name, so I used it. Sangre is derived from Latin for blood, and while that's cliche I went with it anyway. As for Elinora, I had Ne Sangre and thought, hey what sounds good with that? Elinora popped into my head.
Imden Samalda: Mo/R. Not much fascinating story here I'm afraid. He's a black monk in a white world (at least in Prophecies he definately was!) so I wanted him to have a name that was a little different. I screwed around with a random name generator and fudged with the results until I came up with this. I think it really fits him.
From Factions:
Oseldine Reith: Me/E. I think this came from more fudging with random name generators. I knew how I wanted Oseldine to look, so I just had to find the right name. I mostly came up with Oseldine on my own by throwing together parts of names. It seemed like a nice dignified sort of name for a Mesmer (who ended up in my mind with a little bit of a quirky humor; for some reason, from an RP standpoint, I always think of her as the sort who would join a group by the fire in her Canthan 15k, sit down primly, and proceed to try to outdrink everyone else there).
Nasori Skye: Rt/N. This was born largely as a result of an ongoing history with my online name. My first true online handle that stuck with me was Keala Skye (around 1995). In the wake of that, my brother started calling himself Lyrrad Skye (joined later by my boyfriend in 1996, known as Veldyn Skye). When my brother started GW, he named his Ele Lyrrad Skye, and later created another Ele named Yango Skye. Since I started the Skye thing to begin with, I thought I should have one character that carried the name, too. Nasori just sounded cool and sounded at least a little Canthan to me.
Gracelle Rideaux: W/N. Back in the old days, a friend of mine and I came up with our own fictional starship in the Star Trek: TNG timeframe (yes, we were nerdy little kids). There were two sisters on the ship, Rochelle and Michelle (although that's not "Michelle" - it was spelled a little differently and pronoucned "Mi-chel-le"), and their last name was Rideaux. I don't know why it was sticking in my head, but my brain remembered Rochelle as a rather kickbutt head of security, and I started to name my kickbutt warrior after her. For some reason, though, Rochelle didn't fit, and every time I looked for a new name, Gracelle was there.
Imiya Ki Mori: I wanted her to have a somewhat "Canthan" sounding name, so I started fiddling around with random name generators (again) and aiming for something with an asian flavor. Imiya Mori just didn't work, so I did the same thing I did with Elinora and tossed another short name in the mix.
From Nightfall:
Zahina Senghor: R/Mo. I looked through lists of African and Arabic names for a couple of days and wrote up a list. I found references to Zahina both in Arabic and Swahili; as an Arabic name it means "intelligent". Senghor is something along the lines of "descendant of the gods" (origin Africa).
Malaika Sinaan: P. Malaika is Swahili for "angel" (appropriate for a paragon I thought). Sinaan is also Swahili if I recall correctly, and means spearhead, brave. I really like her name and it really fits her (although she looks just slightly mischevious to me, heh, which for some reason makes me grin every time she dances).
Nasreen Bakari: D. Nasreen is Arabic, it means wild rose. Bakari is Swahili, and it means one with great promise.
Rose
Great names people ^^
I have some more to add
Notorious Rose- New necromancer got the name from a guildy who said he was notoriously bad at names xD
Red Rose Petals- I deleted the necro to make an ele.
Quiver of Roses- I've remade her many times as a ranger. She may be here to stay this time.

Lordhelmos
Ahh... origins of names are always interesting:
Lord Helmos:
This is the embodiment of myself. Years ago throughout high school me and some old friends used to play around with this old macintosh screen saver. The screen saver was actually a trivia game that made you choose a floating head to represent yourself. This giant notebook with a face chalks questions on the board and there was a evil floating hammer with crossed arms in the corner.
If you were to screw up a question, the floating hammer would hover towards your floating head then take a deep breath and smash you into submission. At the time it was the most hilarious thing ever. We nicknamed the guy "Helmos, the Clobberator." Helmos became a huge inside joke between us, and since I came up with the name people started calling me by helmos. Worlds like Helmostication sprung up from it. Good times.
When I entered into graphic design my first college year, I signed my work as Helmos and stamped it with a watermark of a giant bulky hammer faced guy. I originally created a monk to bear the awesome powers of all that is Helmos, but then nightfall came out and there was the dervish. Cool, cloaked evil guy with a big scythe. My dervish now carries the name of Helmos, which is my name as well.

My mesmer is Hadrian Rhedd (Hay-dree-an Red).
Only because it sounded evil at the time and he's an evil little dude. Oh yeah! Rhedd was from the author of my favourite Morrowind mod 'Rhedd's Heads'. I love them faces.
My ritualist is Hadou Kahn Denjin.
People ingame started calling Hadrian 'Had' for short, so my second character had to start with 'Had' so I could keep the nick! I'm a huge street fighter fan, and noticed ritualists use lightning, so I took Ryu's powerful move the 'Denjin Hadouken' and changed it around to Hadou Kahn Denjin!
Kahn was inspired from two of my Everquest 2 characters. 'Vincent Kahn' and just 'Kahn'.

When I name my characters, I just play around.
Chioda Oridia - My female ranger, my first char. She is awesome. Chioda is pretty much after the band Chiodos, and Oridia....dunno, it just sounded cool.
Gastow Greyhound - Warrior. Wanted to go for an aged kind of a look, sooo... his hair is grey.
Hannah Primon - Mesmer, wanted something elegant sounding, so I just came up with this.
Kabo Effen - Dark skinned Pre-Sear monk who I deleted recently. Played around a while and got this name.
Sireni Lokus - Wanted a mean-sounding but still kind-of-an-elegant name. Locust-->Lokus.

Quid Pro Quo
Aeolus was the king of winds, storms and tempests. Son of Hippotes.
Sol was the god of the sun. Sol son of Vulcanus (I think..)
And there you go. Aeolus Sol, king of wins, god of the sun. Dervish.

Eh, my characters have a glint of creativity:
Countess of Carnage - Tyrian Necromancer - she is my main character, and is meant to be a ruthless, bloodthirsty necro, with a mysterious and royal past.
Lin Shui Yao - Ritualist - roughly translated from Chinese: "Beautiful Sea of Jade", she's basically a Luxon gypsy-type character.
Nephthys Anuket - Paragon - Egyptian goddess who "represented divine assistance", providing protection, healing, and occasionally offering firey wrath toward the enemies of the Pharoah. Anuket is the name for the goddess of the Nile itself, and is often associated with arrows shooting forth, or the rushing flow of the river. Seems fitting for a Paragon, no?
Countess of Courage - Canthan Warrior - meant to be a kind of twin to Carnage, or rather one represents Death, the other, War.
Kano Ishikawa - Canthan Ranger - He is married to my wife's character, Takara Ishikawa. The names are clearly Japanese, but I have since forgotten their meaning (yes, there was meaning).
Priestess of Wisdom - Canthan Monk - Pretty self-explanatory, geniuenly a book-worm kinda monk, who dabbles in other magics (often either a /E or /Me).
Cronus Timereaper - Dervish - Essentially the embodiment of "Father Time". He's also kind of a rip-off of good ol Zasalamel from Soul Calibur (see my avatar). Not entirely creative with this one, but I so love Zasalamel.
Enlil Tistrya - Elonian Elementalist - Enlil is a Sumerian god of wind. Tistrya is a Persian god of rains and fertility. Both are male deities, but together sound feminine, so they are my female Ele. She will eventually be an air/water Ele (once she gets to level 20).
Niamah Al Basti - Elonian Mesmer - The name Niamah is just an exotic first name (I think Middle Eastern). Al Basti, however, is essentially the mythical name for a Turkish version of a Succubus, or female night-demon. I just loved the idea of a succubus-like Mesmer, draining the life out of all who oppose her!

Meloko Gariss (where did I get this from :O)

Toutatis
All of my characters have "Deus" as their first name. Based on the Lastin for "god". It's a name that has a certain ring to it, and also shows that the character has a certain degree of power (which all characters do once you've tweaked their builds).
The last name I give them depends on the character's primary profession. My mesmer is "Deus Toutatis" - Toutatis being the Celtic god of warfare and the legends speak of him being able to counter any attack thrown against him, which mesmers do extremely well. My assassin takes the last name Shadowblade, as that's fairly descriptive of the skills and weaponry that assassins have access to.
All simple, but effective

Hand of Ruin
My names usually reflect some scene of carnage and destruction.
IE: Hand of Ruin
Only Ashes Remain
Scourge Harbinger
Some I take from music I like, such as my mesmer "Praise the Infanta"
others depend on the mood I'm in. Right now I'm trying to name my first monk, and I'm aiming for something poetic. It's hard to fit into 19 letters though, but I'll come up with something.
Named him "Dreaming of Regret".

More Outrage
All my chars are suffix Outrage and many times this occurs with my occasional ineptness with skills.
Funniest time in game was Master Togo shouting Bloody Outrage when my necro entered the Boreas Seabed mission.

Sabriel Aylomen - Obvious, heh. Aylomen was the last name my bro had for his monk, so I took that when I couldn't think of anything. Necromancer.
Albino Dwarfboy - Indirect reference to Mogget, from Abhorsen. He's a short, white warrior.
Risac Aylomen - Random name, nothing meant by it. Monk.
Medea Aylomen - A enchantress/witch type of person, loves to curse people and kill her own children. Mesmer.
Itchy Itchy Ranger - Just a fun name. I was going to do "Itchy Itchy Scratchy" but that was over the limit by one character! Dang. Ranger.
Ozymandias Aylomen - Named after the king in Shelley's poem "Ozymandias of Egypt." What can I say, I like poetry, and the haughty sneer seemed to fit my ele's description. "Look upon my fireball, ye mobs, and despair."
Marion Aylomen - I had just watched the movie Requiem for a Dream and thought that Marion was a beautiful name. Ritualist.
Ahriman Dusan - Ahriman is a name for Angra Mainyu, an evil spirit in Zoroastrianism. Dusan means spirit/soul. I was attempting to make it mean "evil spirit" or whatever. Paragon.
Candace Cleary - my generic PvP character name. I dunno why; it just popped into my head one day and never left, so I had to use it...
