Which Faction is the "Good Guys" Faction?
drakken06
I'm just curious, but which of the two factions, Luxon or Kurzick, would you guys/girls honestly consider being the "good guys" faction, even if you're on the opposing faction, I'd like an honest answer. I'm just curious. ^_^
kaya
imo Luxon
Numa Pompilius
That's just the looks. I don't think either side is actually good, but Kurzicks are described as tree-huggers who live for art and music; the only thing the Luxons ever talk about is various forms of mayhem and murder (e.g. slaughtering prisoners for sport).
drakken06
Yeah, hate to admit my bias, but the Kurzicks are all clad in dark and such, which doesn't make them look like the good guys imo.
Cyril Aspect
The beauty of it is neither side is good.
nor is either side bad. There is no real right side both are fairly even in terms of what good and bad things they do.
Thus it comes down to opinion and preference which is as it should be.

Can someone please remind me why the two sides fight in the first place again? (i lost the manuscripts )

In all reality, trash talk aside. Both are technically the good guys. However, good/bad don't fit into this type of war.
The war is mainly over resources then anything else.

I'd say Kurzick. They just want to protect their forest, while the Luxon want to invade it.
Lyphen
I'd say Luxon. They just want to protect their turtles, while the Kurzicks want to kill them.
See how that works?
See how that works?
Zorian Direspell
Both technically have their virtues and their vices ... I would say that objective morality favors the Kurzicks as the actual good guys however.
Luxons respect strength because it was difficult to survive as a society that relied upon the bounty of the seas when that bounty was taken from them. It was only through sheer force of will ('Strength of Character' as Elder Rhea would have it) that the Luxons survived. There is something admirable in their never say die attitude.
However, the result of this societal development has been that the Luxons don't respect anything without the same devotion to strength as themselves. The weak are left to suffer and die, and those not strong enough to resist the Luxons are broken and destroyed. For the Luxons, there can never be peace, as peace breeds apathy, and apathy drains a society's strength.
Kurzicks, on the other hand, have a very rigid, religious society, bound by forms of tradition and rules of etiquette. Kurzicks respect ingenuity above strength. They pride themselves on their art and invention. Peculiarly, the aesthetic feel of the Kurzicks is essentially "Goth Germanic" and their pale features, dark clothing and rank titles (such as Kommandant) suggest fascist oppression and evil intent. This would seem especially so when compared to the Luxons, whose more colorful clothing and looser social regime suggest a lighter, more airy society. Such appearances are deceiving. The Kurzicks, you see, are interested first and foremost with the preservation of culture (all culture, as there are Kurzicks who study Luxon society).
For the Kurzicks, peace is not only possible, it is a goal to be achieved, if not for the frequent raids and attrocities committed by the Luxons. To be fair, this has led Kurzick forces to adopt rash measures, including a "god's vengeance" weapon, among other things. If the Luxons are capable of consistent attrocities, then the danger of the Kurzicks is their capacity for rarer yet greater attrocities. Regardless, the only faction that could conceive of peaceful coexistance not in contravention to their way of life is the Kurzicks. Which, of course, is why I joined that side.

The Kurzicks are fascists, the Luxons are anarchists.
Pick your poison. The sea is much prettier than the forest, so the Luxons are the good guys. BTW, Suxons is a stupid name, stop saying it...(no one here, just had to get off chest, ty for listening)

Kurzicks try to kill baby turtles.

Kurzick places are blue, Luxon are red. Red has always been the evil side, therefore Kurzick are good, Luxon are bad.

because all goths want to kill the world and burn the cities. If anyoen says that i'll burn them.
Kurzicks, IMO, are not better, but have more intelligence and artistic desires. Luxons are about strength and winning. IMO, they are barbaric in that since.
o, and yea, Kurzick kill baby turtles, huh? Well you abuse them by enslaving them, go fight for the dredge side.

kurzicks = respect for things other than strength (art, music, etc.)
luxons = respect for nothing but strength
just base on that alone, you can say that the luxons are more "evil." think of it this way, you can rise in kurzick society by being a smart, caring person, you cannot do so in the luxon society (someone will assassinate you for your position).
baby turtles are really not part of the moral issue (i would argue that killing the tree singers who are just there to preserve some trees is equally "evil.") rather, the social norm. think about it, if you were a 90lb weakling, who can't fight or use magic, which society would you rather live in?
in the Kurzick society you're likely to find some artistic endeavor that doesn't require sheer strength to succeed. in the luxon society you're likely to be dead before reaching puberty.

Yes, the Kurz like to write angsty poetry by candlelight about how they hate their father, using a quill pen.
I like the Lux 'cause the places are prettier.
If you're going to talk about the 'enslavement' of turtles you let your domesicated animals free, go join PETA, and remember that the Kurz don't want to share the enormous forest they have with the refugee Dredge.

Right or wrong is really in the eye of the beholder, especially in this scenario where in they're both evil to some extent. I personally prefer the Kurzicks, not to say anything bad about the Luxons. It just seems to me that this is more about which armor you prefer, lol.
Btw, goth and mainstream Emo bullshit are not the same thing.

Indeed, thus the "mainstream". I just dislike people attributing poetry about killing yourself because your rich parents dislike the way you dress, to goth, even though I feel as though both are moronic.
UndeadRoadkill
Yeah, I'm too used to arguing about music in forums, so I get into all kinds of arguments ingame about what emo is because of the Kurzicks. And I don't even listen to emo.

They're both the good guys.
If you've played the game halfheartedly into the frail storyline, you'll learn that the Champions from each Faction were the two who slew Shiro Tagachi in the first place, 200 years ago.
It's almost like World of Warcraft where a lot of players have the misconception that Alliance are the "good guys" and Horde are bad. Neither are good or bad, but if you play extensively then you know that in truth, the Horde is the more benevolent of the 2 factions. In WoW however, the Demons+Scourge are the real bad guys.

The sad part is niether is bad, this war has no right or wrong side.
Frankly bothe side have their good points, but....
The Kuxons have it hard, the Jade sea produces little resources, powerfull creatures attack them constantly. Hard life prooduces hard people.
The Petrified forests are rigid and unbending, which makes the people the same.
I doubt that even they know why they fight.
What the Emperer needs to do is take both leaders and hit the over the head and tell them to knock it off.

Even if the luxon agreed to have peace, the kurzick would just use their dirty politic to abuse the luxon anyway, with their unchanging racism toward luxon.
While luxon would just use brute strength to steal or rob what they desire. Most likely bullying kurzick most of the time, talking down upon their art and music.
If you want to say, they are completely on the opposite side of each other, with no understanding nor appreciation for each's deed.

Not everyone likes rainbows ^^.
There is not a very clear cut GOOD or BAD side, although the Suxons are trying to Invade the Kurzicks forest....the Kurzicks pretty much just want to be left alone with their trees.
Anet intentionaly mixed up the Happy "looking" Luxons and the Dark evil "LOOKing" kurzicks with their actual values.
Kurzcks value all life in that "tree hugger way."
Luxons kill for sport in that "survival of the fittest"
Niether is wrong or right just different.
maybe you guys should read the thing at the front of the manual that bescribes each side ...instead of going:
