Suggestion: Merge Charm Animal and Comfort Animal
Arghore
Perhaps things get brought up so much because they are good idears in some shape or form. And a relation with a pet is different then summoning stones, esp. for petmasters or pet lovers. I actually use the pet to trigger certain effects but dont always want to bring a rez, but i do want to be able to try and keep him alive just because i brought him with me. Perhaps a +hp regen with a very steep attribute curve on beast mastery..
Charm animal
For 5-30 seconds your pet has a + ** hp regeneration. Recharge 45sec.
+0 Beastmastery <5 (you do not care enough about having a pet to care for one)
+1 beastmastery 5
+2 beastmastery 10
+3 beastmastery 15
+4 beastmastery 16+
This way one could perhaps also include certain pets with attribute restrictions, that are harder to care for ak need higher beastmastery to capture not just by having them with you, but also with the amount of healthregen needed to capture them.
And true skill summons are powerfull (too powerfull, i dont know) but then dont they take away from the effort of capturing and training your pet...

I find it such a waste to have to get a build going and then spend two slots to bring the pet and res it. Definitely need to be combined. Most of the time I just don't bring comfort animal; in fact, even though I love animals, I only bring a pet to level it up due to the menagerie. Otherwise I don't bring one at all. So I could say don't bring a pet, but if you're a B/P or something, then this is definitely necessary.

But: the skill would be 3-5 seconds cast, and only in PVE. It wouldn't heal him, just res him.

Plain retarded that if you want to use BMastery you can only use 7 slots, its like wasting a slot just for having a bow. Same rech that heal and if pet is dead it res with 0 .... 5 ..... 12% HP or somethin.

Not really, no. You use a skill slot for a level 20 companion. It makes perfect sense.

It'll need a new name for it to describe both charming a wild beast as well as healing and resurrecting it from the dead in order to make sense. If this change is made, it'd change Beast Mastery for the better and won't be so overpowering at all me thinks. Heal as One would also need rework as there'd be no need to have two res skillz. Maybe buff healing and resurrection health bonus and remove resurrect from HaO?

Actually yes , it does. Yes they are 6 skills only , my mistake , so there are 2 skills to bring that companion . Like asura summon but it only uses 1 skill so .... do you use a slot just to bring a bow ? thats my point.
draxynnic
You could even give it the same 10 second cast time that Charm Animal normally has - if you want a viable combat res you'll still want to bring a dedicated skill, but at least you could then use Charm as an after-combat res.

No it makes no sence...
You need 2 skills to bring a companion, (charm / comfort), if you just bring charm animal, its like bringing a summon stone on your skilltray, as you can't rez him, its worthless once it dies; Also any attribute points you spend on beast mastery are lost once it dies;
The way it is now, it does not even compares to summon signets (Vangard Support/Flame Creature) which are 'like' a summon stone on your skilltray, with a reload time..
So you need 2 for a pet, if then you also want to carry a skill for this pet, makes for 3 skills, the beastmastery skills should be where capturing and training a pet have an advantage over summoned creatures.
Which leaves 5 skills, since you also want to bring a rez for your teamm8s; you now have 4 skills left; then ofcourse you want to keep yourself alive when under presure, so you cant realy do without either Trollurgent or the Leet Melandru's resilliance; Leaving you with 3 spaces for any form of an attack.
Say you bring run or heal as one for the extra pet skill (so you can benefit from this skill yourself) and you bring Troll urgent instead of Melandru. This ranger now has 3 skills to make his build, mostlikely 1 preperation (as this atleast gives the bow attack something extra), meaning there are 2 skills left for bow attacks...
From the discussion sofar i think most logic would be the proposal made by Tenebrae, make:
Charm Animal
Capture a Pet using this skill, this pet travels with you
as long as you have Charm Animal on your skilltray.
Ressurect your pet with 1-20%Hp.
Comfort Animal
Heal your pet for **HP, if your pet is dead it is
ressurected with 25-75% HP.
This way one can ressurect a pet in PvE with Charm Animal after a fight.
Or choose to also take comfort so you can heal it when it is underpresure and if it dies bring it back into play with a decent amount of HP to keep fighting. One can now also bring heal as one to use Charm ressurect and heal so one can keep fighting, but this means you also bring 2 skill on your tray.
(keep in mind that Charm rez is not like Rez animal, which works on all pets)
Using charm animal to rez in PvP is rather dangerous as it has so little HP it
is bound to be dead in a split second (disableing all your skills for a few seconds! again)
So for PvP, you best bring Comfort animal aswell, so you can rez it and keep using it to fight, So the basher/pet combo can still be used in PvP, but does not become even stronger as for this build to be good you will want comfort so you can both keep fighting... The Charm/heal as one combo might work aswell for pvp, but you probably need to spend multiple heals for this to work, in this time you can not fight... So, i would probably use the comfort rez/heal, as this will work better/ work as it does now...
Sounds reasonable to me?

Asura summons have their own skill.
For pets, you must bring yours.
It's not an 'extra' fighter, because just bringing a pet is not enough.
Jack of all trades, master of nothing. If you spread your points between you and your pet to make a pet barely effective in PvE, you must render yourself useless, and become just a companion to your pet that activates its attacks and skills.
The main source of damage with both bows as pets is skills. If you don't bring bow attacks, your attacks will barely damage enemies. If you bring bow attacks, you'll be bringing less skills for your pets.
And if you don't bring pet attacks, the damage the pet will deal alone will be a joke, and as damage eater, spirits are better. They are immune to hexes, and at level 13 they have more armor than pets in PvE.
So in PvE if you want to go beast master, you must choose between being way less effective than other possible Ranger combinations by spreading your attributes between 3..4 lines, or focus in beast mastery and follow your pet around without baryle doing anything yourself but waiting for the pet to use a pet attack untill you can activate the next one... and still be less effective than other possible ranger combinations. If you are a ranger, you can always move around when attacked and have 100 armor vs elemental damage, but your pet is not so smart. No matter how well you control your pet, it's base attack speed attacks will still be 1 hit/2 seconds.
PvE Monsters don't have problems with that Beast Sworn Hekets switch betwen axes and bows and have no problems dealing some damage to the party without attack skills at all.
At least for PvE, the Beast mastery line should have a look took at it.

Wait, about it affecting pvp, isn't this why they make pvp versions of skills? Couldn't you just make the pve version of charm animal heal/res your pet?
Also, I agree with someone saying there should be beast mastery staffs that affect pet dmg and other stats of it.

Maybe the description could read something like "If you have no pet, charm target animal. Once charmed, your animal companion will travel with you whenever you have Charm Animal equipped. You cannot charm an animal that is more than 4 levels above you. If you have a pet, you heal your animal companion for 20...87 Health. If your companion is dead, it is resurrected with 10...48% Health." That has to be the longest skill description ever, but you guys get the idea. I'd also keep the cast times the same (10s for charming an animal and 1s for healing/rezzing your pet). They both cost the same energy, so this idea really has some viability (but would need a shorter skill description <.<).
