Not dissing GW, I loved the first. And I appreciate the help here, I liked scrolls stacking. But it just seemed they took a rather odd approach to the problem and it's not as useful (arguably nearly so) as I would have hoped for.
Other MMO's might have those things, but you're forgeting somthing. There is no monthly fee for GW and u DO NOT HAVE to buy the expansions for GW. Plus like wat MSecorsky said, u when and if u do decide to buy the expansion, it accually provides a lot of NEW content for the game, not some small town or somthin, which is probably the most you would get in any other MMO. Oh ya, and Arena Net has to make up somehow for the people not buying the expansions (I still don't really get why they wouldnt. I think it's way worth it....) so they have extra character slots you have to buy and stuff like that.

Big difference.
Actually it buys new Servers, Patches, dungeons, items and skills. Just about the same as a 6 month GW installment.

To people who say dye tabs, stop it. How often do you NEED TO USE dye? Better yet, how often do you find them?

and only two are really worth hoarding if you're a trader, silver and black.

Good extension for my box and you have to start anywhere, or not?

Hopefully, by time, there will be some further improvements.

It dosen't bother me, but it is simply not fair to limit this extension to faction owner only.

ANet listen to your community, keep your promise, and change it.

You think that's bad I have over 3k of each. I have 2 characters just for storage of common material. I have more than enough for my entire GW life time so I never buy anything

It will be nice. At least they are trying to do something. I've noticed that the price on new event items never really get high because of the strain they put on your inventory.

And in some cases you don't even have to pay the monthly fee to play other MMO's. What is your point? Free inferiority is by nature superior to more costly competence? That's some cheap logic.

I hoard all dyes to make them available to guildies. (I am also a dye magnet, I seem to find at least one on each mission or quest that I do.) I appreciate this move by Anet, it will certainly lessen some load, however, I have one minor suggestion. For those who do not save certain materials, which may have a slot in the vault, couldn't it be tweaked to allow them to store more of another type that they do?

This update does nothing to help me. Personally, I don't see any merit in storing materials other than the really valuable ones (ecto, shards, amber, jade, etc.). If I want to save for armor, I spend a week or two and 2-3 slots, and do so. IMO, materials, collector's items, and dyes have never been worth saving, as they're so easy to obtain the small quantities you need (again, except the rares mentioned above and black dye). So, since I use all my slots for changing weapons and armor, I think this update was in the right spirit, but way off the mark.

Honestly, I think just addiing 4 or 5 spaces to existing accounts would have been about twice as successful as the soon to come change.

You took Gkaz's post out of context. He posted that after someone stated that you basicly do pay a monthly fee. If you buy every chapter it's about 10 bucks a month.

Heya Sparky... by your logic, once beta's over there should be no more upgrades to the system. Beta is good until Production. We're well past beta. Anything that could potentially alienate a majority of the player base (say, for example, screwing up storage, so everyone's stuff goes away...) needs to be done with a degree of caution. Simple common sense.

Anet can have a beta for anything they want, when they want. That includes after the game is released. Have a select crowd of people, and give them the update. Or test it on their own server. Infact they probly let the people onto their own server to test the update. Simple common sense. And besides, using the Factions population as test subjects is in NO WAY AT ALL common sense.(Especially after the scenario: "screwing up storage, so everyone's stuff goes away.")

How useful... after getting rid of all my materials because i was running out of space this is implemented. Fair enough, people hoarde materials. Its just a shame half of my storage and characters are covered in WEAPONS AND ARMOUR!

Keys probably wouldn't be feasible, since the number of types of keys will increase considerably with each chapter. Dyes, however, have thus far been static in type, so a dye tab would have been great.

As has been stated, this update helps some people, doesn't help others at all, so it's hard to be more than neutral about it. It doesn't help me, since I don't hoard materials, but I'm not really upset about it. My #1 want is more character slots to buy for my account. #2 is a PVP-only secondary profession changer put into guild halls and arenas.

I keep seeing GW no monthly fee keep poping up in players reasoning behind the oddness of Anet's additions, yet I have never once seen an Anet rep say anything of the sort. I am led to believe then, that Anets' business plan is working as they intended; therefore any players grasp at defending strange design choices (whether good or bad) should have no bearing on cost for Anet, nor should the lack of monthly fees.

Anet chose to not have monthly fees. The players understand that in exchange for no monthly fee, expansions will be sold as full priced games that will also act as stand alones (so new players can jump in at anytime). We (the players) seem also ready to accept that a 1 year dev time for the expansion means not a "full" game like Prophesies was, and most of us can deal with that.

So, can we please stop attempting to defend Anet (they are adults) with the "no monthly fee"? It makes no since, has no bearing on anything and is baseless untill an Anet rep claims it to be so - note, if an Anet rep has said this as a bases for lack of something to be added, I would love a a link.

I would very much like to see a Xunlai faction.

Players could do quests or bring in collector items to earn faction. They could spend faction to buy general slots (and this would become increasingly more expensive), spend faction to buy material storage slots (specific to each material, and purchasable in increasingly expensive levels to store more than one stack), and purchasable customized slots for weapons/armor (at a fixed price). It would turn the storage problem into a gameplay mechanic.

the "no monthly fee" thing is a ridiculous defense indeed.

Anet's true defense is this:

They listen to us. They have been listening to us. Yes they act REALLY SLOW sometimes. I mean REALLY SLOW. Like a snail on butter on ice. But I have never....ever....in my over 15 years of gaming, had a company care so much for its community as Anet at such a young age (Guild Wars being their first game).

I expect even greater things. But we have to be patient.

The comparson is invalid. The monthly fee of WoW, for example, gives you nothing new. The semi-annual chapter purchase gives you far more than WoW's monthly fee does... plus an entire new chapter to play.

Point missed. Load testing, especially at the level we're talking about here, cannot be truly duplicated in a test system. You can get fairly good simulations, but reality has it's own way of showing you what you missed.
