It seems that the whole Gwen saga is simply a more imaginative time waster than the Chat Gem on Diablo II - it's there to make people ask what it's there for.

to be honest no on knows waht these items do or why they are there, maybe its cuase the designers of the game have a hiddne ester egg that no one has uncovered yet, or maybe they serve no puropse or even maybe well get some sort of clue from sorrows furnace. but for now we dont know

I hvehard ALL of this before. I have found the tattered cape, the broken flute, the shred, and that. I have 2 theorys. My first is that you muyst have all of the items, including the flower. And yes the flower does exist, somewhere in stingray stand, but not located on the beach. My second theory is the things except the shred. But that makes no sense so Sarah must give you a quest once you obtain all the items. I would like to find the flower dso if neone wants to help they can contact me in game. Deltu Monk.
PS-You can get the tapestry shred by giving Gwen 4 flowers, a cape, and a new flute.
PSS-you dont need the new cape the regular iris flower or the new flute

I'm still not buying into the whole dead flower thing until someone shows a pic and precise directions on where to find it. I've explored a LOT of stingray with various characters, and never once seen a dead flower item.

me niehter but the thign that bugs me is mingis the meek, none of the creatures attack him, but they attack teh collector near him. Im gonna look for flower tonite but what puzzles me is that shredded clothign ro cloth strune along the beach near mingis, was their like a shipwreck?

she had no cape or flute until I reached lv8 and then she... just ended up with them. I never gave her any flowers though, I sold those for 5g each haha.
As for her being raped by charr... well I bet pretty soon she angered them to the point they just didn't care what they did to her anymore. Can you blame them?

For the person who brought up Gwen being "rapped"... please... check your spelling... you can't even spell "raped". Unless you really mean "rapped". You must be into rapping a lot.

If you join up with someone who is further along with Qwen and talk to here it tends to catch you "up" with the quest. I've had it glitch on me where it had with cape and flute (as if I completed) it but no amount of flowers would give me the tapestry shred

I tried that axe skill were you spin around wildly swinging which damages surrounding foes cause you can use it when not near anyone in the hopes it would strike Gwen and I could kill her... but she didn't get hit at all...

Anyway. Here goes. Again. Gwen gives out the Shred like a monster drops good loot. Its random. Sometimes it comes along quickly and sometimes it takes longer. The formulas of "Give Gwen this, then give her that." are bunk! I know this as fact due to my own experience.
Now I trashed the Shred each time to make room for other things, which is probably unfortunate. But if something finally pans out on all of this I'll just make a new character and have fun.

Um... hasn't Anet publicly said through Gaile or someone that Gwen's quest is currently broken, and that it will be completed some day, although they have no firm plans for it in Sorrow's Furnace or Chapter 2?
At the very least, I'm certain there are screenshots of the Frog talking about Gwen - early on he said that Gwen's quest would be completed soon, but later he started saying he didn't know what had happened to Gwen, and he was sad, and he'd talk to the devs, and they'd look into it.
Can someone back this up? I know I've seen this.

All these items are here to unlock a secret profession known as "The Gwens".

After you destroy ascalon you grab the tattered girls cape and the broken flute, you run to the river to the south east and stand in the water for exactly 95 seconds. Next find rurik, talk to him 13 times, on the 13th time leave the window up and go open your fridge door 13 times (closing it each time of course).
Once this is done close the window and go back to the river. Stand in it and equip the cape as a weapon and the BROKEN flute as your shield. Equip each of the 5 flowers as your armor.
Wait another 95 seconds and quit your game again.
When you get on your char again it will have transformed into a Gwen.
Gwen is a very imba profession with such skill as "Randomly stand around not helping", "Heal 20 whenever I feel like it", and "Spin in a circle while the Me/W gets owned in front of her very eyes".
If you guys attempt this and mess up your cd will blow up and it will delete it's self from your computer, FBI agents will walk into your house and inject something into your neck making you forget your CD key if for some insane reason you had memorized it.
Everything you touch will turn to ash and jesus will spit in your face.

Mystery solved. there is a "frog" in sanctum kay, that when u drop the items and kneel tohim, he gives u a quest. the quest is to "Find a dead flower" at this point, it is the first time a dead flower can drop for you. Once you find a dead flower, return to the frog in the same proccess wich u summoned him and get your reward of Gwen's Letter. (it is another quest item without a quest first) At this point you go to the underworld and give the letter to Sarah (gwens mom) At this point theres is a short cinematic of gwens mom reading the letter, where she will divulge gwens resting place. She will give you a quest "Finding Gwens Remains" You go to the general area of where it showed,(Sum where in the crystal desert) and you get ambushed by 5 lvl 24 Char, When you beat them, the last one, will drop gwens remains, and a short cinematic will play with the voice of glint. It explains more information about the char, and how they plan to take over tyria, It is a pretty good preview of what chapter 2 is going to be about....

I think it's a glitch with the initial quest and the issue is someone else gets tagged along for Rez / Across the wall. I don't party with anyone until after I given her the cape, flute, red flowers and receive the tapestry shard. I think the tapestry if trigged of you give her both items, enough red flowers & and bring her along enough time or to enough remote places. I dragged her to and to Azure the ele more then once. As for the "dead" flower until I see a screen shot I won't believe it. This whole thing reminds me of the "rumors" about how to get Aeris back to life on Final Fantasy VII that never turned out true. Can't wait for FF Advent Children All I know is is this, I have the tapestry (pre), and the broken flute, and tatered cape (post), her mom is dead in Uw looking for her. (pure guessing) I so hope she's alive. And side note she may not be the seer but I wonder if she's the "narrtor" that tells the story when you 1st start a game. (edit) hmmm... I should be sleeping I repeating thing in a threed I've responded to at least once that I complete forgot about, sorry about that.

i gave her flowers with my w/mo and she gave me the tapestry shred. I don't know how many i gave her. I did not have to give her the cape to get her to do this. However I noticed she already was wearing a cape and playing the flute once she gave it to me.
