In Pre-searing trying to get icy lodestones with my monk--one of the mobs dropped a nice wand 4-6 or 5-8 dam w/ a bonus. My inv was full so I dropped something cheap and put my 4-6 wand I had equipped in the open slot and tried to get the nicer wand off the ground. While all this was going on I kind of died to the 4 other wandering mobs that were poundig on me the whole time.
As soon as I rezzed back--I had the bright idea to zone to town and clear my pack at the vendors. Sooo--I procedded to sell everything I had in my pack and went back to the ice death rink.

I learned right then and there that items that fall in instant zones disappear when you zone out--and it is hard to defend yourself without an equipped weapon. Even though monks do a cool tai-chi dance--you still die pretty fast even with the divine aura.

2. Ran up and opended the front door on the Academy mission, not having a clue that they changed it :P Thinking.. "oooh cool! Lets try to beat them" and opening the door for the second time and getting killed

3. Accidently Dying gwens broken flute purlple because i was convinced that it wouldnt dye.

4. My first time in PVP i ran right up to the whole other team by myself, instantly getting killed hehe.

Heh, ya I got a bit of a silly story myself.

Was searching around for new skills to get in post-searing so I set out to find master ranger Nente. After doing the first mission he then told me to go through the breach and kill so-and-so across the bridge. So I went to the Sanitarium and got together with a group of players. We then proceeded to the Breach. As soon as we got in one of them said "Oh, I know what mission your doing, follow me." So we proceeded to follow her through the tar river and on towards Piken Square (I found out afterwards). Well I died about halfway there and had to log out.

So I came back the next day, joined a guild, and asked my new leader if he would help me with this mission. So we go back into the Breach and I say, "Ya, it's this way", following the path I had went the day before. So we go around and around, go into Piken Square (my first time) and then leave again and wander around and around for about 2 hours. I can't figure out how to get on the stinkin bridge. Finally we go back to the beginning of the breach and there is the doorway to get on the bridge. Doh!!!!

A little long-winded sorry. To sum things up, don't always assume your team members know what mission your doing!!!

1. Well, did the cape thing with Gwen too.

2. And dyed my Chimeric Prism-.-

3. "Advised" my friend to craft charcoal instead of buying.

4. Ordered from Gameplay.co.uk (they sent tuesday the 26th, and it still isn't here)
At least I got the most roxx0rz preorder item, Chimeric Prism. It's very flexible.

Made it to Yak where I heard that is where the next level of armor upgrades are to be found so I find the Armor merchant and get all excited about getting new stuff.

Off to Ascalon to buy an aditional 10 bones from a player, port back and buy a pair of Bone boots -then I realized - Hey this is the same friggen armor I am already wearing except mine is dyed!

LOL my mistake cost me 150 gps, 100 gps for bone purchase, some bone and some hides... So where do I find better Necro armor... Currently I am wearing all Bone 30 AC, +1 Energy, +15 AC against peircing damage. As seen in my sig.

Canada, eh?

Guys. Don't hit me.

I had 10 Squares of fur, 20 regular fur things, and nearly 50 iron ignots, all from pre-searing.

I went to searing, to my new armour... then sold the rest of the materials to the vendor. I didn't know other players would pay more for them..

I haven't done any 'dumb' things per se, more out of pure ignorance. I've had tons and tons of bones and other items I picked up that could've been crafted. I had no clue I could do anything with those items. Next thing I did was allow a guild member to trade me a his drakescale armor for a few bags. Yes, I ended up buying three bags b/c he had no cash for armor I couldn't use (and apparently you can't trade bags!). He did take armor back but I was out the difference between buying and selling prices of those things.

I did the same thing with my R/Mo. I thought to myself as soon as I saw them, "Aren't these the same little weak aloe things as soon as you leave Ascalon? No problem!" Of course, they aren't. I died a horrible death, ended up at a respawn point that left me wondering where I was (it was like in the snow, in a location I didn't even remember having been to), so I teleported back to town to start over. In restarting my journey, I'd forgotten exactly how to get to Wizard's Folly in the first place and ended up taking a MUCH longer way than is necessary.

you can't trade bags, but you can team up, go to an instanced area and drop them...there's a trust factor for that however.

Kind of related -- last night I teamed up with two rangers and a ele (I'm a war) to tackle the Ashes quest out of Piken. we were all 10-12 level so figured we were in pretty good shape without monk. Spoiler----------------------------------------------

We were are killed and the rez portal plopps you in the temple zone tough togh rez area. We are died so often we all had 60% DP but were killing two or three charr each time so were slowly making headway. Well been chugging at it for half an hour like this and had managed to kill of thre or four total mobs. When three of the four of us were killed and the fourth guys was still standing he says "Wow I just noticed we are close to a portal let me go through and we will all lose the DP" and starts running. The three of us lying there dead are screaming for him to stop and not go out of the zone to no avail. Then he realizes its just another zone not an out post or town so we all keep the DP and have to zone back to start the crap over again finally did it but WHOA that was the dumb. FUnny thought we rezoned back in and he says "oh sorry guys my bad"

I killed my entire party with the catapults in the Fort Ranik mission... in two seperate BWE's... and didn't have a rez signet left the second time. Or rez at all... on my Mo/N. But I did smite my way through the end of the mission, so it worked out.

We did that last night for fun lol. 3 of us stood in the big pit where you use the first catapult launches (We cleared out those charr by hand the hard way first) while our resident monk pulled the lever. It hit me for over 1100 damage!

A couple days ago I decided to make a warrior/ranger and after I took master ranger Nente's quest to tame a melandru stalker, I realized I was full of items and went into town and unloaded some things. On the way back, I tamed a moa bird. Yay I have a pet! I get to the point to where I'm supposed to tame the stalker and I can't because I already have a pet...ok, I spend the next hour trying to get the poor bird killed. Well, the bird kills everything I encounter either that or the monsters target me and I end up dying. Finally I get a couple of monsters to gang up on the bird and kill it....great, problem solved right? wrong. Still won't let tame the stalker. Go back into town, come back out, bird's there, WTF? Go back into town, abandon quest, go back out, bird's still there! OMG this is turning out to be a nightmare!!! go back to town, abandon secondary character quest, go back out, bird's still there, I'm befuddled, discombobulated, confused, perplexed, pissed, you name it...at this point I'm convinced there is a glitch in the game and contemplate erasing the char and starting over. Go back to area where Nente is...oh, who's this tamer guy??? Oh how about that, he takes your unwanted pets for nothing!!! Never felt so humiliated in all my gaming life.

You can't charm the bull nor the "Spirit of the Wind" spider thing in "Trouble in the Forest". So I guess it really isn't a mistake aside from having to wait longer to get the devourer egg quest from Old Miller.

and we all got a complimentary bumper sticker that said, "I helped skin Bob."

Pre-searing:
1) Took on the drake without first checking his level. I was level 1
2) Actually walked from place to place instead of using the map. Damn...
3) I ran a gauntlet of ice elementals actually thinking I could outrun them when trying to get back to my partner
4) Ran from the lever to the gate *way* too many times before I realized I needed help. Um... I even actually tried the /jump command
5) Continuously activated Ascalon guards "!" even though they all said the same thing
6) Never went anywhere without the little girl (I don't know... maybe she was a good luck charm).

Post-Searing:
1) Didn't realize the good/bad vendor thing for prices.
2) Kept clicking on my NPC instead of the Monster when attacking. He was very nice about it though: "A little busy right now"

1. I got impatient at the end of an escort mission and used warrior Sprint on the home stretch. When I talked to the NPC to get my reward, he reset my quest to the beginning! Sure enough, when I went back across the area boundary, all my followers had warped back to their starting location, past the dozens of Charr . Moral of the story: On escort missions, wait for all your followers BEFORE leaving each area. It is required to trigger the mandatory "quest updates."

2. Starting out with a Warrior/Necromancer when my pre-order bonus item from EB Games was a Bow. (UPDATE: ArenaNet fixed this already!! Just use the /preorder command to receive your pre-order bonus item with any of your characters!).

3. Trying to kill spiders for several minutes while holding a basket of apples.

4. Spending hours in advance trying to plan out my "uber" characters, only to realize that we gather skills slowly over time anyway, and it's better to try out everything to see what you have the most fun with.

Actually she is the closest thing to a henchie you can have in pre-searing. Once she gets her flute she casts instant health and energy regen spells. Very nice to get the extra 20 HP during a slugout.

1. Bought a flute for Gwen and spent hours looking for her broken one, when she already had her old flute (I think if you're a monk, she never loses it).

2. Got a second belt pouch thinking I could equip it in a bag slot.

3. Threw away that belt pouch because I thought it was useless.

4. Dyed my monk's sandels (the first set after the starting ones) yellow - had no visible effect.

5. Didn't notice the Tab key, so whenever I fought multiple enemies and killed one, I had to use my mouse to turn the screen so I could click on the next one. Sometimes I'd miss and just walk up to it without attacking.

1) i didn't know about that aggro radius til now

2) i bought the cape for gwen which she won't take. she won't take the flute either but hey, at least that didn't cost much (by the way, how many flowers does it take til i get the tapestry??? i've given her about a dozen now...)

3) got a second belt pouch, realised i couldn't equip it and sold it pre-searing

4) sold the collectble items without realising i could salvage them

IMO Money isn't a huge problem in GW. Best of all, the people who invest in those second/third tier runes take an HP hit to equip them (Still great runes, but atleast they come with a penalty). So noobs, don't grind in Pre-searing for hours getting those fins for the pouch quest thinking it'll be the only easy money you make, and that you'll be better off after the grind.

As far as dumb things done:
I opened the large gates in Nolani, when the huge charr army is outside, and let the charr kill my entire group. BTW, actual way out, is the oposite of the gates.
