More storage. (Now with special item collection sway)
Chev of Hardass
OK, I have opposed storage from the beginning, but it is time that it gets expanded. The number of items to collect in this game makes filling up your storage on collector items extremely easy. 7 more items from the Halloween party, and possible upcoming items made me change my tune
I used to argue that more storage would give the buyers and sellers an ability to hoarde items, but at this point in the game the world just needs more spaces to store stuff.
Here is my inventory on my Warrior. This inventory is like this so that I can PvP with my warrior. I would also like to note that all of these items are customized, and I added a Pumpkin Helm, Frost Artifact, and Icy Axe last night, so this pic does not show the entire collection. I actually do not have room to carry a ID or Salvage kit on this character anymore.
Add in some crafting items, collector items, dye, and weapons, armor, and offhands for other characters and you have no room to pick anything up anymore.
So, can we get some more storage?
If you want to, make extra storage only for characters that have completed the game, or some really hard quest, but please give us some more storage space.

Even something 'limited', like an armour case that will only hold spare armour would be nice. How about a materials bag...? Give me space!

What I would love to see in the next chapter or maybe in one of the upcoming updates is the ability to manage all your charcters' invertories without the need to logout and login with a different char. Because how many times do you need to transfer something from 1 character to another...
What also would be nice is to have a per character storage. Speaks for itself I assume.
Some kind of boxes would be nice as well as already suggested.

My storage is full of materials I have collected, a few dyes, and halloween items. When I pass things over between my characters I have to take things out and in again.
Not to mention that one of my characters has to carry all my runes (my monk). He recently had like 40 which filled the inventory so I sold loads of them, but still it's gay that I really don't have enough space for more things.
My warrior's inventory is full of lots of weapons, upgrades and other poo that I can't be bothered to sell to a trader or a person. Because I like keeping things, I just don't have enough space anymore. As I am keepiing some halloween items, I have 3 colors of dye in my storage as well as them and materials. If I find another color of dye, there's gonna be problem.
I vote for more darn storage, either on the inventory or in the storage vaults.

We deffinately need to get more space. I tend to hoard things like crafting materials for when i need to either craft rare materials or just buy new armor. there's just got to be more space or we're going to start seeing characters burst at the seams with overflow items

my friend has 3 sets of necro armor
2 sets warrior armor
2 sets monk armor
he uses all of them alot
he has no storage space
just recently really maxed mine out with all the haloween items
I think that an armor case could be a very possible solution
maybe a crafting material bin???

I can't see any reason why we shouldn't have more storage space. Space is currently very, very limited. It seems that ANet desperately wanted to prevent hoarding in this game, thus the small storage space (20 spaces shared amongst 4 characters, no matter how you look at it, is very small) and the relatively low cap on gold in storage. But this seems like a "solution looking for a problem". Many expensive items like ecto can still be hoarded easily because they stack, while useful but lower priced items like runes and upgrades cannot be.
Even common crafting materials, with a cap of 250, are too hard to store in any decent amount. I would like to see a cap of at least 500 on common materials.
Now they are giving us special items that people will want to collect, causing more problems for storage.
The amount of items you can hold on one character is currently 45. Yet, we can only hold 20 things in a (presumably) massive storage vault. That does not make sense. Personally, I'd like to see storage space for 40-50 things. They could at least make it a gold sink if they are THAT much against it. In other words, you would have to pay a fee to open up more than the first 20 storage spaces. Like the original storage fee, only higher of course.

I play Neopets....and theres a limit to how much items you can sell in your store. If you want more space you have to pay to upgrade. I think this is perfect for Xunlai.

You can even use A-NETs OWN reasons to argue for more storage.
They admitted that if they were to introduce more proffesions then there DEFINATLY WOULD BE A NEED FOR MORE CHARACTER SLOTS.
As they have added MORE items... then there DEFINATLY IS A NEED FOR MORE STORAGE SLOTS.
its as simple as that.

Like FVC said, just increasing the stacks of crafting materials to 500 from 250 would be a major help. Currently, after these materials, I only have three or four empty slots.

i need more storage but like, im sure you got other characters you can dump some stuff on for the time being when your not needing it

Problem with the idea of storage characters, while good generally speaking, is if you are playing with 4 characters and one account, like many are, you have 4 such characters that look somewhat like the OP's. Chev has two weapon sets for various uses, as most do, shields for circumstance, a couple extra armor pieces to accommodate build flexibility, and basically only one armor set. Woe betides you then try two armor sets. You then need a second account for storage, but accounts arent linked and we cant add character slots to an account yet, so you then need two computers running GW simultaneously or people able to help you move things around as you need. Bit frustrating really.
I love the idea of increasing stack max amounts. That would help, though if you hang onto your rare materials found, and do any salvaging, as pretty much we all do, you've then got some 10-15 slots minimally taken right from that alone even when stack amounts go up. More spaces really. Toss in some things you wish to hang onto and its pretty tough.
Dont need excessive space expansion, since the argument against hoarding is valid. Some help though would be nice. I think the purchasing of extra character slots linked to the main account is ideal, since its then optional for those who want to play more primaries or have extra spece or whatever they wish, and others can pass if they dont need it. Short of that, maybe a bit more space in storage?

of course in conjunction with raising the material stack from 250 to 500 and armor sets (like weapon sets), it would aleviate alot of these storage space problems.

The camp might be added with the following extra to it: You have to type your pw to get to that camp. That would help, i guess, and it more easier. And for the extra Storage, HELL YEAH! I always seem to have to many crafting materials on me, and 3 bows, 2 armor sets....

I think letting non-rare crafting items stack to 500 would not hurt anything as well. Many armor items cost more than 100 of a crafting item and spending a stack on armor and some weapons at the crafter can be done easily.
However, I would like to point out that letting the stack size of crafting items be higher will not really solve the problem.
I feel like there should be enough storage to put a stack of each crafting item, rare crafting item, dye, collector item, and have a few left over. Having a character with all of my crafting items is incredibly inconvient if a different character wants some differant armor. My armor color changing addiction, still fed by drops, requires that my dye be accesible to all characters at a whim, so my storage only holds dye, and the new Haloween items. I have a character completely devoted to holding collector items, I think the Remains (Azure, Dark.....) take an entire bag.
I just have to restate that individual inventories would feel a lot more useable if the storage was larger.

Yeah...I totally agree with more storage area.
Maybe, something like each character is given a house; and you have to buy closets(for armour), weapon box, drawers and etc.
For me, I like to collect unique stuff.
-Even for my armour, I have 1.5k set, 15k set, and currently working on fissure armour(very slowly...but I think I'll get it eventually)...and each armour has different sets of runes.
-I'm also keeping a cape I got from Gwen...still have no clue what that cape is for...plus broken flute which scatters outside of sanitarium.
-With release of Sorrow's furnace, I've collected about 12 green items. And I heard there are totoal around 75 green items.
-I preordered my game...so I still have pre-order item in my inventory bag.
-There were few halloween special items. Witch brew, ghost-in-box, pumpkin serum, some green potion that makes you glow, and my favorite, the pumpkin helm. I'm keeping all those.
-Plus, I'm pretty sure there will be special items for special holidays in the future.
So, I'm not sure what to do with current storage space really. All of my 4 characters' inventory bags are near full; and I still have lots of unique stuff to collect...like green items.
If this will cause trouble...how about storage for ""customized"" items/armours/weapons etc only....to prevent someone from stockpiling for sale purpose. For example...I know you can't customize runes. But if you can, then now you can stack customized runes and store somewhere for your own character only.

Expand on it... have the Xunlai also be in charge of weapons lockers and armories, where you solely store extra weapons/armor, as well as expand upon the regular storage but no longer allow weapons or armor in regular storage.

I Don't know if this has been mentioned already...sorry if it has.
There was another game my husband and I used to play, where you could buy a 2nd,3rd,4th,5th vault page..the prices got extremely high (I think page 3 was like 2 million)..but it was well worth it.
Currently, both my hub and I play GW..and with storage being was it is..we have resorted to using one char strictly for the purpose of storage...which sucks cuz it's one of my chars. If I should want to play as this "storage woman".. I have to log out and in countless times and shift everything around...and it sucks!
Please..please give us more storage...I'd be willing to pay a freakin' fortune for it!

I like the house idea. Even if they were instanced, you could chose which city you wanted it in, you could buy upgrades, store your stuff... It could open up a whole variety of different things. *pokes fellblade display case and armor-polishing kit*
You'd be able to also invite people into your house (perhaps have a 20-30 person group size?) and host parties and stuff.

I would absolutely agree with more storage. I'll even pay (guild wars gold OR real world cash if necessary) for the ability to hold onto more stuff. Sure, buying another account is an option, but then there's the headache associated with having to transfer items to the mule...
Gaile - if you read this - I really want to order two pizzas and two sodas, but like I said in-game, I don't have the space for them...

I don't proclaim to know anything about programming, constraints, etc... so if this suggestion is completely out of line, my apologies. I would like to see all duplicate items (not just crafting materials) have stacking ability. For instance, at any given time my ranger can have 3-6 or the same bow string upgrade, grip, what have you, and yet, no stacking ability. I have had 2-3 of the same green weapon. Again, while it seems simple to me, I have no idea what effect this would have on server space, etc...

What about special items such as basic and perfect components in seperate storage slots? (this MIGHT have been asked already, but need clarification)
I think the slots of storage could be:
Weapons
Weapons (Rare and perfect)
Armor
Armor (Expensive and customised with runes)
Shields/Focuses
Shields/Focuses (Rare and perfect)
Materials (about 40 slots for them materials, rare would be on another page)
Weapon Components (60 items, 1 page for high-perfect storage)
Runes (60 items, 1 page for superiors, majors and minors seperately)
Miscellaneous (holds event items and unusable collectibles, also holds ID & Salvage Kits, 40 would be OK for now)

I also need more storage, and not just another 20 slots; in order to delete one of my chars (which i'm unable to do, or i will lose all the items on it) I need at least 3 TIMES as much space as is availible now. I really can't see Anet's point of view on hoarding, as it happens on every game, and has already happened on GW in the past (have you all forgotten the 42k black dye day? or the week that runes went international?)
Increasing the stackable crafting materials is also a good idea, but the majority of my items are weapons, armor, runes and other unstackable crap that i keep, eg gwens flute. Like others, i would also be willing to pay gold and/or do a quest to get more storage space; 5k for an extra 10 slots would be very reasonable (hell, ive blown more on dwarven ale).
This idea is needs to make it into the game before x-mas rolls around, at the very latest; i would love to see it by the end of the month. Maybe Anet could roll it into the same update as the auction house, you can't imagine how beautifully they would work together.

Pack rats! I stab at thee!!! *stab*
Only things I ever keep in storage are a FEEWW crafter materials [I sell the ones exceeding 250] or multiple weapons/headgear to change my character roles.
Going from W/N Axe to W/Mo hammer is cool.
From Trapper to BeastMaster Ranger/Monk is good too.
But that only needs about 5 spots of storage with the rest being devoted to crafting.

We're not really "hoarding" anything...except maybe dye (and that's because they stack..if they didn't they'd be gone
My husband plays a monk..he has three sets of armor depending on what he's doing...two sets of warrior armor...multiple weapons for different purposes. The tapestry shreds (I refuse to get rid of them after how difficult at least one of them was to obtain). Besides, I need it for the next chapter..that's when I find out I was right all along and Gwen is the anti-christ. LOL
I wish I was hoarding a mass of awesome weapons...but sadly, I have never gotten one.
