Ok I'm posting this to get people off Daros about this lol. Chapter two: Facts and rumours. First of all, my sources are from three locations: GW weekly interview with The Frog, Forums and insight from people who communicate often with arenanet, and finally, My buddy, Corporal Galen's dad who works as a employee in Areanet. You will have to buy the CD from stores and install it. - The people who do not buy the expansion will still be able to play with the new version players. New version players will get access to areas that the older version people won't. -Current charater slots will INCREASE to an undecided number. Current characters will not be altered however, additional skills will be avalable to them. -Guild Storage will be available (system is unknown). -A lot of skills will be added. -THERE WILL BE NEW RACES! EDUCATED RUMOURS -Four new character classes will be present: Phantom Caller, Defensive Melee Unit, a Shadow Priest (i dont know what it means), and another one that is not clear yet. -Up to 16 vs. 16 guild battles and arenas will be added. The conventional 8 vs 8 will STILL be available. -Upgraded Graphics THINGS THAT WON'T HAPPEN -The Level cap will NOT increase -You won't be able to PK in normal PVE zones. -The private copy of map will not change. -The swearing filter won't be removed. The educated rumors sound pretty weird to me.

"the swearing filter will not be removed"...
You can remove it manually as I believe.
Go to options and look around for it.
I know.

I really hope that they don't have new races or then GW will start becoming more WoWish in my opinion. But I just really hope that Anet decides not to do it.

on the 4 classes: thought the 'official' interview said 2 classes would be introduced?
Actuvious Devanger
Much info is provided by Chemical's uncle who works for ANet I believe.
Dancing Blade
theres no way there are going to be 4 more classes, that would just be a horror to balance... i think there will be 1 or at most 2 new classes
Lexar
Now that I think about it, I believe they stated that 8 would stay the maximum size for teams. I think a lot of this is a combination of common knowledge of what an expansion is in the first place and some wild guesses.
Fenix Swiftblade
New races are fine in my opinion, only because the way that I think they should be implemented is to be purely aesthetic. No race attribute bonuses or anything like that, just the ability to make your character look different.
Hannibel
16vs16 would make matches so long i don't think they would do that,
yeah 4 new races is doubtful, i'd think they'd make a shapeshifter type and shadow character class before they would any other class

Will you be able to transfer old characters to the new game?
BBoy_Manchild
phantom caller = mesmer, defensive melee unit = warrior, shadow priest = monk with necro skills, i seriously dout anet will make carbon copies of already made classes. i would like to see their own version of the d2 druid/ morrowind werewolf expansion, get some nice shapeshifting skills or even non-corpse-exploiting summoning
KamikazeChicken
Druid ftw.. Probably be my favorite character besides monk. :X

So let me get this straight, you don't want a copy of these classes, you
want a copy of something else that's been done to death?
Vilaptca
I thought they said new RACE. As in...one, not raceS...

Personally, when things are called 'facts', I like some linkage/screenshots to go with it.
Some of those 'facts' sound very much like unconfirmed rumours to me, and I read the fansite fridays+skim the frog/Gaile notes as well.

Just organize what you consider facts, educated rumors, and bull rumors.
EagleEye33
hhmmmm Idk about new races, If they just add more skills to the profs we have that would be nice, theres already enough profession combinations, despite what anybody says can ALL be good when truly explored.
has anyone heard anything about new weapons, armor?
Plus there always the rumor that rubies and sapphires will actually be used, or has that already been confirmed?

Nice info. Perhaps the 'inside information' part is nonsense, though, but there is no way of knowing this for sure until something is confirmed by Anet or the frog. Much of what is being presented as informed specualtion is certainly NOT information you can glean from forums, fansite interviews or the hints of the frog.
Anet should have no trouble identifying this 'uncle' if he is in any way a real employee, I think.

There has never been any indication that "new races" = "new races for players to play". ANet could simply be referring to other races in game, such as the White Mantle, the Dwarves, Krytans, etc. They have never actually come out and said "You'll be able to play as a completely different race".
They also have never said anything about cap limits changing one way or the other. Explanations or rationalizations from the community about the pros and cons - valid or not - doesn't mean anything. The only thing they have said in the past is that the cap limit for the current game will not be increased. That doesn't mean it won't change in the future in expansions.
Note, the following is my opinion.
I hope that whatever expansion package comes out that it warrants the additional cost, not just gimmicks and a few more missions of the same ilk as the last offering. A couple more professions, a few more additional skills, and more of the same old PVE content isn't going to cut it, at least for me. In order for the expansion to sell well and provide enough incentive for current players to buy it, there has to be a compelling reason to spend another 50 bucks. The current professions are unique enough, but the skills within the professions are mostly filler and junk. With only 8 skills available for a skill bar most players bring the same skills, making most of the rest worthless.
While it's fun to goof around with different skills, and trying things out, the vast majority of players all play the same handful of skills. Some of the skills simply aren't worth using - they are lesser powered skills that beginners are given until they advance far enough to get better ones. Same applies to armor, weapons, etc. With 90 some odd skills, yet only 8 slots (seven if you could a rez or cap skill) available, most skill bars generally get set up the same.
So, ANet has a choice. They could add some more of the same skills that really don't bring anything to the table. This would maintain balance between the expansion and non-expansion players, but may not be compelling enough for people to spend 50 bucks on. Or, they could add some extremely desireable skils to make players more powerful. This would instantly imbalance the expansion and non expansion sects.
But, the problem is, things HAVE to become more powerful for players - or else there wouldn't be all that much of a reason to buy an expansion. If players don't become more powerful that means the monsters can't become more powerful, the skills/professions introduced will be just more of the same. There can only be so many ways to heal a player, only so many ways to cause a deep wound, only so many ways you can interrupt a spell, before it just becomes meaningless.
Player's motivations for playing GW are as varied as personalities, but the overriding desire is to become powerful, to find newer, better skills, armor and items. Everything else is secondary. If ANet simply provides more "space" without greater rewards than what can be gotten in the basic game, then there will not be a reason to spend money on the game any further. It may sell well in the beginning, but the universe must evolve to survive due to stagnant gameplay. Right now, players are constrained to simply search for cosmetic upgrades but at some point, even that will not be enough to sustain it's core.
Just my opinion, of course.

Oh and for all you that are up tight about the "no level increase" thing...
Yeah I know this is against their original word, and I DONT support this 100%. This is anet, not me. Just realize that.
Now look at that...she doesn't know if they'll increase the level!
Not only that, but she never mentions a new playable race. Just emotes, professions, skills, areas.
Yeah they mentioned new races, but did they ever say playable?

Depends on your meaning of casual.
A lot of lower guilds run GvG with henchmen....
But yeah a lot of the time its hard to get 8 people who want to GvG at the same time...unless you're XoO.

Yup, that was one of the facts the wow community was bashing us with :
Hahaha you will have to buy new content and we get free updates!
Yea, if you want the expansion set, you will have to buy it.
But they also said from the beginning that it wont be fully charged

Plus, do the math, 15$ a month, 50$(40$? 30$?) for an expansion. For GW to cost more than WoW ANet would have to release an expansion every 3 months. And, if they expect us to buy it, it would have to include a lot of new content. Not only does GW cost less, but depending on whats in the expansions, we should be getting a lot more new content.

Lets take a proper look at these rumours.
four new classes? i'm not sure why people don't believe this. isn't the expansion supposed to be equal in content to the origional game? and i'm massively impressed by Bboys ability to know the exact nature of the skills from the name of the class.
16v16? hmmm. it strikes me as very time consuming. but then again i've spent hours in 8v8. i know how long it will take and i only go in if i have the time. a technical problem is the size of the team window. 16 players? that will take up a massive portion of the screen. healers need to be able to see everyone at once.
upgraded graphics? maybe not. for a real step forward it would require changes to the graphics engine in the game. maybe they can add more detail so that high spec comps can get some extra prettiness out of it...
races is another point. i have no idea if the races will be playable. as far as i'm aware there was no evidence to suggest it. if we are getting 4 new classes then i can't really see a new race. new enemy races however. this IS a certainty.

I read somewhere that there were going to be 2 new professions... a 'nomad' and I think it was 'druid' too... Trying to find the source, but can't I'm afraid...
