I'm pretty sure Enraged Charge is the logical choice....
Winstar
In fact Sprint and Enr. Charge are the same in cost, duration and recharge. The only difference is that enraging charge ends if you hit something with an attack and you gain 3 strikes of adren.
So, since you aren't hitting anything on the run to the cave anyway the are equivalent while once you fight the spiders you are going to increase the amount of adrenaline you can get which will increase the frequency of firing off attack skills which of course means spiders die faster. No contest imo.

Racthoh
I would usually Sprint into the group then switch on Frenzy anyway, and with Flail it would fill it right up (depending on the build of course). In those situations, Sprint/Enraging Charge could last 4 seconds for all I care.
Winstar
Just curious, why wouldn't you take more adrenaline if you can get it for no cost whatsoever. EC into battle and your first swing nets you more adren faster than running switching to fenzy or whatever one uses right off. After you hit with charge up then just swap to the ias. Every time its up while fighting its a an extra adren boost if you want it. Basically I'm just saying at no cost to you on this run you can increase your performance with enraged charge over sprint. I agree its not necessarily some thats going to make or break anything, but really, if you have both unlocked you have every reason to use enraged over sprint.
crion
I know its probably been said but like what weapons should i be using are there any greens i could use and wats best armor type.

Noob FoW runner here. What about using w/d build with Av Balt elite instead of 100 blades?

The forms last I think 15 seconds without any points into Mysticism (which obviously a w/d can't access).

please help, I can't do it... not that I have trouble killing the spiders, I can't do the run...
The first part is easy as hell, just run around the big rock, kill the first group of driftwood... Ok then that's where I have problems. I lure the second group of driftwood into my area, and kill them, then sneak past the first group of skales into a relatively open area. Now here's the problem- In front of me is ALWAYS a HUGE mob of skales combined with doubter's dryders and snarling driftwoods. Sometimes I try running past them, but I always get hamstringed and then killed.
Ive tried luring out the driftwood, but then while i'm fighting them a frikkin skale ALWAYS wanders right into my aggro, no matter where I stand. Seems like skales wander wherever the hell they want. Hamstringed, dead again. How do I get past this part? I can't complete the run at all.
I tried 9 times already. Died every time.

I'm having that problem as well, it seems they have f***ed with the spawns once again... in the second picture on the first page of this thread where it shows its clear is now ALWAYS filled with skales...
I did manage the run one time... run to the somewhat open area where the driftwoods wander to, then when they aggro, run through the mob of skales hugging the left wall where HOPEFULLY there isnt another mob of skales, and heal before you die of the degen.

Note when I started the thread; those pictures are very old.
But as long as you watch your radar and watch for spots that are open it should still work.

When you're luring the diftwoods and dryders, what I do is hit them with the longbow then when they get inside my aggro circle then I start moving back a few steps until they're right next to me or far away enough from the skales
squan
if you have heroes bring them with you clear the skales an move your heroes away, after that just kill the spiders.
Topinambour
That's true that skales are soooo annoying. I always made a so-so beginning run . Once I passed through the skales and arrived to the spiders, it's a piece of cake. Even if they are a large bunch of armored freaking filthy spiders ( I don't like them, don't you see ? ) I managed with both my life and damage output.
I get pretty good run when I do them ( about 3-4 shards, tons of legs of spiders, keys, blue and purple chaos axe; not all of this everytime, but it's fairly paying).
I use a derivated from the original build, a W/me physical res/cleave/exec etc...
And it works good enough to ensure me good results even when sending the shards goes terrible 'cause of the market (ahh too many farmer ).

You can still use the W/Mo build in the first post, too, and that one has an IAS skill. Also, no Dolyak Signet=win for this run. Knight's Insignia and Shelter(Defense +5 works fine)grip are not needed, but can be helpful.
Actually, there are lots of builds that can work still, including yours.
I've used: Attack Skill/Elite Attack Skill/[skill]"Watch Yourself!"[/skill][skill]Flail[/skill][skill]Enraging Charge[/skill][skill]Healing Signet[/skill][skill]Vigorous Spirit[/skill][skill]Live Vicariously[/skill]
after the armoor update; it worked fine. I just renew Vigorous before it runs out to draw Savage Shot. Works better with Cyclone Axe or Whirlwind Attack as one of the attacks.
I used a zealous axe of defense, -2(stance)+30 shield, and my regular(meaning insignia doesn't matter)armor.

Bah the W/Me still works perfectly fine. Just use Knight's Armour and a -2 stance shield and you'll be taking 0s (with the occasional 1 and 2) with Physical Resistence. Watch Yourself was really only used to cover yourself when you use heal sig
And before you ask, I've done runs after the armour nerf and I have noticed no difference in speed (or damage taken).

Something has changed on the Spider run.... I haven't played for about 8 months but something has definatly changed! Does anyone know why the Spiders hit me for anything between 0-17.... before it was much less than 17.
Nevermind, I think it was because my timing was off. On my fourth run things went much smoother, I was able to take the entire group at once.... Just had to knock the rust off

Nevermind, I think it was because my timing was off. On my fourth run things went much smoother, I was able to take the entire group at once.... Just had to knock the rust off Armour boosts no longer stack so, if you're using it, Dolak + WY! is only giving you +31 instead of +52. Armour boosts from armour, shields and weapons still add, though, so if you use a +10 piercing shield and a +7 shelter weapon and you should be fine.

So if I use Physical Resistance and Dolyak... they don't stack????
And if that is the case, how do I make up for the -20 AC when I use my Heal SIg?

As I said before, there are still ways to boost your armour to cope with the spiders, but you're probably better off using Racthoh's W/Mo build (front page) with Healing Hands (E) and Live Vicariously. With careful Dryder pulling and experience maneuvering through the skales to get to the cave, you can pretty much tank the first 18 spiders in one go.
Saying all that, though, this run doesn't fetch you much money anymore... much better off doing smites. p

You have to have that much healing... because with this build you have no defense

This thread deserves a front page once again
I have been revisiting some older bookmarks and noticed the original build/s and variants in many older threads still work pretty fine, i went into fissure last night after setting my warrior up and shaking the dust off and had a pretty good run on the beach and spider cave.
No doubt there is many new people playing the game so i thought a friendly post/bump would at the very least help others out so go check it out for yourself, this was a very good idea at the time and it still works, so no need for another new post
"ALSO"
For what it's worth i took my W/Me with these skills below [Nothing New] Although i forget the exact attributes but you can pretty much figure out and balance them to suit you.
Something along the lines of this should work fine.
9 inspiration, 12 swordsmanship, 12 tactics, 4 Strength [With Minor Runes] and a superior absorption.
[Hundred Blades]
[Whirlwind Attack]
[Attack Skill] - I used [Sun and Moon Slash]
[Attack Skill] - I used [Drunken Blow] * [Desperation Blow]
[Watch Yourself]
[Healing Signet]
[Sprint]
[Physical Resistance]

With a cupcake you can even drop sprint/enraging charge.
I also did a spider run once in a while, I remember last time I did it was with the buffed vigorous spirit (1/4 cast time). Together with live vicarousy that gives back much HP.
Also, with my w/d farmer, the buffed defy pain is really cool. 0 dmg from almost everything Victorious sweep for the healing.

When I run the w/d I always take enraging charge too, but the cupcake part was more a suggestion for the build posted above my post

Scythe build looks cool. AOE should reduce lap times a good bit.
Physical resistance is pointless now, with the Defy Pain buff. Flail = IAS, IAS = FTW. Knight's Insignias + Superior Absorption plus -2 stance shield + Defy Pain = 0 from all Driftwoods and Spiders. You can tank a group of Driftwoods while you have Dryders on your ass, and crippled, and survive very easily so long as you're quick to activate skills. Feel no Pain gives you a counter against degen and it can't be stripped or interrupted. Here's what I was running before I uninstalled:
16 Swordsmanship
13 Strength
3 Healing
[flail][vigorous spirit][feel no pain][defy pain][whirlwind attack][standing slash][sun and moon slash][sprint]
Furious sword is nice but not necessary. Cool to get the attack skills recharged a little faster, though. Energy is a total non-issue. The paltry heal from VS is there solely to top off the last remaining pip of degen from poison, and it lasts a long time and is quick to cast. Thing I love about this build is that once you get into the cave, you no longer have to pull the Dryders. You can run up and start the beatdown. You don't need your enchant right away anyway. Just keep using Flail and attack skills to negate [wastrel's worry], keep Defy Pain up, and the -1 from poison and 0 damage from attacks will be something to laugh at. Once the Dryder is dead, proceed to thwack the Spiders. Easier than ever.

I'm sure this has been asked to death, but is this still possible, I can run to the armored cave spiders took 10k worth of training lessons. But I can't kill spiders for the life of me, i isolate and kill one easily but then i'm dead, if i run i'm taking 16dmg per hit in the back from 12+ spiders. And i stay and fightI die regardless, i can't seem to keep the healing up. As for the only damage you take is poison degen, and they hit only 0-2 its wrong.
I'm using full knight insig'd full plate, have rune of minor strength, major absortion,+41 hp vigor rune and two vit's. I walk in there with 601hp. Healing sig heals me for 110 or 122 and i still die, and i can't even think about killing 2 side by side the other will heal him constantly. I'm a W/me using the build already stated. Any advice, or has this been nerfed. To date ive spent 20k going in and out and have made 22k going in and out, this is without even entering the cave more than once. They time i did enter i got flanked by spiders and died>.< Any advice?

Ok i think i realized the problem I wasn't confident in the build itself, I'm a strong practitioner of 'Creating your own builds!' So i did and gladly so i completed my first run immediately after posting here. I got 2 shards and 3k in drops not including the massive amount salvaged and keys that wasn't sold. It took almost 2 hours though hope i can get the time down.

"Create Your Own Build" is fun, but if you are doing something for PROFIT, a working, effective build > "Create Your Own Build".
Modifying a Build is generally easier, as you can see was done heavily by many different ppl starting on the first page of this thread - and has been done in the last 3+ years since the OP was made.
Glad to hear that you finally found a Build that you are both comfortable and confident with, it does help loads.

I would not run the original build because it's just slow.
Since this thread got bumped again I decided to make a new build, which is faster than my w/d build.

Axe version of kvndoom's sword bar. If you know how to lure and ball all spiders it takes the whole spidermob at the start down at once.
W/D is faster at killing small mobs.
As always, perfect gear is full knights, absorbtion, -2 stance shield and zealous axe of shelter.

I'm going to have to start making runs down here to try and get my Shadow Shield and Shadow Blade collection moving, since no one is responding to my WTB Thread... the Shards would be welcome as well - my wife wants FoW Armor for her Dervish.
