What computers do the average users have for Guildwars?

i just bought this sweet Alien ware area 51 with about 15 years of my saving and i dont regret it at all.
Lunarbunny
I'm running:
Socket 939 AMD Athlon64 3200+ (2GHz, currently running in 32bit) w/stock AMD fan/heatsink
MSI Neo2-FIR, VIA K8T800 Chipset
1GB (2x512MB generic PC3200 DDR RAM (Memory controller is on-die for the AMD64 chips, and S939 gives me dual channel, so my memory is running at 800MHz in theory.)
Chaintech nVidia GeForce FX5900XT 128MB, Mobo running 8xAGP
Onboard Realtek AC'97 7.1 surround (I'm using 5.1 or that right now.) Not a resource hog (could be the speed of my CPU and RAM ) and the sound quality is great.
120GB 7200RPM Maxtor 133MHz IDE HDD, 2MB cache. It's the only drive placed on IDE1.
30GB HP (IBM) 7200RPM IDE HDD, 2MB cache. Only drive placed on IDE3, which is actually an integrated PCI IDE controller on the mobo.
I/OMagic (Samsung) CDR52x/CDRW24x/CDROM52x/DVDROM16x Combo Drive. Only drive placed on IDE2.
Generic beige case with a little fancy plastic on the front
350W generic PSU (I think I'm pushing the power rating on it, but I don't smell anything yet )
1x120 MM fan in (Front, made a custom mount so that I could place it in the 3 empty 5 1/4" drive bays)
2x80 MM fans out
---
All built myself
The processor in this rig is the most expensive single component I've ever purchased for my computer. $240...I think second comes my video card, which weighs in at about $170.
---
Damn, I won't be able to spend this much in a few years...right now I'm not the one paying for housing/food/etc. . The last upgrade (mobo/cpu/RAM) cost me $600.
---
I find that they're extremely overpriced. I could probably build an equivalent with about 1/2 to 2/3 as much money as they cost.
---
EDIT: beJames: I bet you're using the same mobo as me . Don't forget to use matching memory so you can set it to use dual channel! Mine's a rocket with it, even with generic sticks.
---
EDIT: Forgot to mention my sound ^

Of course I do realize that the average user thinks that AMD is better by what the bench mark is, but what about the amout of time it is used over. I burned up 2 AMD in about 1 year each and 1 year plus later my Intel is still kickin' and I give it just as much love.. In fact a little more. (NOTE: I don't overclock my PC I think it's a waste of time.) It's a matter of what you have used and how much you've used it. This is my 10th motherboard and 4 computer since having a 486 33Mhz. I have 0 problem with AMD's. It sounds to my like you have a lack of a decent cooling system. My CPU is at 26*C and never goes higher then 34. I just upgraded my comp in march this is what I bought.
MB ASUS K8V SE DELUXE K8T800 RETAIL (Qty=1,Price=$116.00)
VGA ATI|RADEON 9600XT 128M 8X RTL (Qty=1,Price=$177.00)

Subtotal:$746.00
TAX:$.00
Shipping and Handling Charge**:$29.31
Total:$775.31
I can run HL2 on highest settings and I get 0 lag in WoW. BTW the Asus motherboard is the queen of motherboards. The soundcard on the motherboard is better then my soundblaster.

Genosha: about burning up your AMD's, it had to be a cooling problem. I have a 2 1/2 year old Athlon 1700+ that still works fine. This one (the AMD64 3200+) seems to run a little hot, but 40 degrees C is fine for a processor. I have DOC'ing on, and I ought to just shut it off, even though it's only at max 3% extra (2060MHz). If I do, I'll probably run around 30-35 degrees instead. The nice thing about the Winchester core is that it runs .1v less than the Newcastle because it's down to a 90nm process, so it runs cooler.

You don't wanna know, but i'm going to tell you anyway
The worst pc out there:
450MHZ AMD-k6-2
I don't even know what my mainboard is
300 something Mbram (dont know the exact count )
Radeon 9000 64 mb <- that right there is the reason i can actually play games with this piece of Krab :P
It was supposed to be upgraded to the following in februari:
2,4Ghz Celeron 320 <- hasn't been delivered
Asrock P4I45GV
512 mbram
And i'm perfectly able to play GW, even at high details, of course, the game hangs from time to time, but nothing real bad

Can't you complain to your credit card company (or bank if it's a check card)? That is theft.
ShotGunBunny
Well, it's kinda complex, nobody exacly understands what happened, but the store where i bought it says their distributor caused all the problems, so i guess there's going to be a lawsuit(that's what you call it, right?) but they've already given some people their money back, so i just sent a mail asking about my money, and we'll just have to wait.
Good thing i'm used to playing at an average of 5 frames or so

Does anyone know what the system requirements are for GW?
ShotGunBunny
800 MHZ is all i know, the rest will be equal to what you'd have if you have a 800MHZ comp, of course, it is possible to play GW on a comp like mine (check some posts above :P ) but i can't guarantee you a shock-less game experience.
Check www.guildwars.com i'm sure you can find it there.

We're talking about a 72% overclock. You would need vapochill/liquid nitrogen to keep the system that cool. But that doesn't take into consideration the fact that the processor simply can't be stable at those speeds.

He's just saying the oc is equivalent to 3.8 Ghz P4.
My A64 3000+ is at 2.42Ghz but performs on par with a 3.4-3.6 Ghz P4.
