I'm using your build extensively, Avarre and it works great with practice. Only thing is, from what I've seen Hydra farming seems to be more efficient than UW farming with it. (Those Aatxes take SO...LONG... to kill, it's much more dangerous, and there's the 1k entrance fee) I can rake in about 25k a day mainly Hydra farming with this build; how much do people make UW farming with it? I did one run today and got about 40k from it, but that had alot to do with the superior vigor I got from a chest... Like I said, when this build was written ectos were 15k each

When two spawn, the abosolute best thing is to wand one dead and quickly interrupt the second as soon as your second wand attack is fired. If you're quick, you can take both down.

As for a mesmer SS, spirit of failure (+4) is used to compensate for energy, when combined with SoD for miss chance, gives quite decent returns.

Btw, after doing some soloing with my N/mo with SS.. then i have found out that its complitely possible to Solo the smiters and Aatxes without any kind of interupting.. (little help from Benton tho).. So, would some anti interupt work instead of Power Drain like Mantra of Recall? I mean, the interupts is really killing sometimes.. where as the Nightmares is just Run like hell when they pop.. Seems better than the interupt imo =x

Interrupt also serves as energy management against Terrorwebs/Coldfires, and you can't always run from nightmares - if they're grouped with darknesses, or spawn near and behind walls. Resolve would also leave the potential situation of getting drained heavily -> if you have 20 energy and need to cast hb/prot, cast breeze, get hit in resolve, you won't have energy for prot spirit. Then you die.

You have an anti interrupt anyways, it is called SV

I have been 55 ME/MO ing the UW for a while now with this build. That said, if more then one shadow pops up it's no problem. You wait about 1 to 1 and 1/2 second then hit "Cry of Frustration", it will intterupt as many things in your area that are casting. Then you just wand them to death and continue on with the Atax or smite or whatever. I had 2 shadows pop on me last week and it worked perfectly. The trick is to wait the seconds to give both a chance to start casting.

wow this is a great build, i have a mesmer that i recently made and decided to try out this build. The Build worked wonders, but i always have problems when i take on teh graspings. is there a way to avoid them? or an "alternative" run?

You need to take out the graspings to open the doors to the chamber and smites. Just make sure you don't cast when they first arrive (they tend to open with an interrupt), get SV up before they reach you or after their interrupts are gone, and hack away.

SV is the key against graspings.

Yes Krypt, my build does take quite awhile, with a scythe the speed is drastically increased.

The advantages are the build is cheap to set up, easy to learn, and can thus provide some fun for mesmer primaries.

Do you mean a Mo/Me with not 55 as in spirit bonder? Since I posted a spirit bond build on the front page, I don't see why not. It would just be slower. For the other builds, it depends on the area...

On guildwiki, is a mesmer/monk uw farming build, that not only uses iw but uses conjure nightmare or something that gives -8 degen, would this build be slightly faster?

Only drawback to that is being based on spirit bond, the graspings ALWAYS seem to be a problem.

Without doubt an additional hex would do additional damage and make the run faster. With 5AL (assuming you have that armor) and SV to stop flurry as much as possible, grasps wouldn't be a threat.

The ele-res slot is a bit of a variable if you can work without it.

The problem with empathy is you're not going to as effectively be able to fight smites that use smite hex, or the caster mobs that heal with aura of restoration.

It's a viable skill if you're only facing aatxes, but also requires another stat line.

So which one of the builds is now obsolete? Does the 1st one still work? You said that this build is not applicable to some extant after the 1st build and before the 2nd build, so im not sure which one works.

Just replaced Mending by SB to use scythes. Actually you won't keep up SB all the time, just cast it when your health is getting low. No screen for the Smites at the moment

so i suppose they both work? Im not sure about this but i dont think you need a max weapons since IW deals a set amount of damage anyway, as long as you have a enchantment increase mod you should be good?

i don't think the update would affect this too much. The enemies should have 0 energy by the time AV or SV ends right? and by the time u cast it again they have maybe 8 energy and cast maybe one skill. Its maybe one step backwards but seems okay.

havent tested the AV and SV nerf yet because we havent had favor but i think that it should still work you will most likely just have to cast the spell twice as much which will become a pain in the ass but it SHOULD work.

A much bigger problem with the changes is that rend enchantments now casts in 1 second.
