You cant change the length and width seperately. You have to drag the diagonal tool to actually change the skillset bar. (or atleast, it worked for me)
Mine is all vertical. Getting used to this setup though. Hard to monitor party members on my monk. My maintaned enchants are to the left of my compass, and my enchantments on me are right under my compass.

How do you transfer a screen shot to here.....My custom interface seems so much more user friendly than all of these, but i dont know how to take a picture and get iot here.
keith
To go vertical, hightlight the bar and expand the box down. It will go vertical on its own when you expand far enough....then you can adjust the width of the bar
CKaz
Keith, you have a good n52 layout/want to share yours?

I kinda feel like a chimp here, but I can't find any option to customize my HUD/UI or whatever...
I know how to change around on the hotkeys however.
Would anyone care to enlighten me ?
Thanks =)

Click on your Menu bar and go up to the very top option on the menu. Click on "Customize".

I believe I have the best interface enchants and upkeep to the lower right and smaller icons of it(clickable to cancel) are top left under xp bar. enemy names are shown at the buttom of the skills in the center.
Acheus Lokine
This is my interface, just recently did it after a lot of different changes. I like this one so far, it's minimalist so I can see everything that isn't the HUD, but still see the HUD clearly enough. Conditions are to the left of target information.
Olfin Bedwere
I prefer everything open at the top so as to see whats coming. I also aquired a wide screen LCD which gives me more area at the bottom.
shiwen
I tend to look up more than i look down, so i like having most important info around top right corner. Standard layouts ok, but don't like having to keep looking from top of the screen to the bottom.
Izzy Izumi
I have mine rather like Archeus, 'cept mine's more...horizontal. I like this set up because I can clearly see the horizon. Oh, and Tiger's Fury looks more...cuddly this way. HAHAHAAHAHA
LadyTheif
Da Cebuano, I do like what you changed it too, I don't know where you keep your attack bar, if you use it.
I know I need to change my for the better, Thanks for some ideas

No problemo, I have all there is to have in the interface, I just kept it neater. Yes everything you get in the standard interface is still there. It went through some mods b4 arriving at such, and it rocks hard.
reason I keep my interface up is cause its much easier to look up and click above then below. You'll easily see whats ahead due to the clean layout and still very accessible yet efficient at the same time.

curious question...
what exactly is the "UpKeep Monitor" used for?
I'm trying to figure out where I want to place it, but I don't know what the point of it is.....

I'm trying to figure out where I want to place it, but I don't know what the point of it is..... It show what enchantments you maintain. Each of them eats 1 energy regeneration (one arrow). For example Monk spells like Mending, Essence Bond and Balthazar's Spirit are maintain enchantments which show at upkeep monitor.

So it's a good thing the interface is customizable. =)

I have it assigned to skill '8' which is sprint... a very nice easy to reach key for running emergency. Untrue. Backtick (or Tilde if you hold shift, but it's really the backtick ` key) is bound to "Open chat window". I use it all the time. I really appreciate it being where it is. Looking at the chat history is often important to me, especially since I usually play with at least one other human.
Missing chat is a bad thing.

Also 'F' doesnt seem to be assigned to anything, another valuble key in any game..
Except for "select self", which seems important. =) Quote:
Having multiple weapon setups with just one weapon type is still very useful.
Vampiric weapons: Only equip them when actually fighting. This is easily the best reason to have multiple of a kind of weapon: One sword for carrying around when not fighting, and another vampiric one when actually fighting. (Or whatever, the second doesn't even need to be a sword, but might as well be.) Different focus: Switching from a shield to a focus that actually provides energy can be useful (or vice versa!) Different weapons or focuses for other reasons (energy +15, switch to your weapon/shield pair that has tons of +health bonus when you are getting wounded, use the more offense oriented stuff when healthy, etc.). This is sort of a catchall, but there are other reasons to want weapon sets. That said, a lot of warriors can probably get by fine with only one weapon set. But there's plenty of reasons to have them, too. glockjs
i tried to change mine once....it just felt too out of place. guess ive been playing the standard UI way too long. the only thing ive done is drag the shortcuts to the bottom of the screen :/ so no screen shot needed lol

I'm lefthanded, but I do everything except write with my right hand. It's odd, guess I'm ambidexterous, although I am not by definition.
Anyhoo, I use my right hand for direction (arrow keys but I use r as well), targeting (backslash and bracket keys), and camera angle (mouse). It just makes sense because the mouse isn't used much in my hotkey choices and my left hand is already busy with skills, entering any chat mode, hitting space, t, and control. Diomedes
Sorry, I've been reading through the thread, but I haven't found this one yet (I apologize if I missed it). Is there a way to move around the clock?

Clock?
Yes, when you're in PvP (and some missions) there's often a timer displayed at the top of the screen. I'd like to move it around (and heck, I wish I could always display it). | You see, I tend to use a lot of timed hexes/enchantments not to mention that I count out the time since my opponent last used some specific skills (so I know how long I have until he/she can do it again). My current solution is to stare at the clock when I'm casting and use it as my timer, but I hate looking at the top of my screen. I've dragged a big clock next to my monitor which I use, but I'd rather just have a nice clock on the screen. That's all, thanks. -Diomedes Deltu
Well i changed my interface because i cant stand my map being on top so i moved it to the bottom right. This makes me free to put my weapons on the left
Sho Kasaki
The only real change I've made to my GW-interface is move the Level Bar down atop of my Health and Energy bars. It frees up a lot of space on the left side of the monitor, and even (if I choose to use it) gives me a place to stick the mini-map (U-key by default).
I'm thinking of different styles to use, but I'm not too sure what I want to do. conker
i dont get how 2 do this : //// i hit f11 and searched all over and could not find out how to move my exp bar, skill list, and such : /
Kai Nui
The only way to change the interface is at the bottom left hand corner and pull up the menu and click customize at the top. there is no quick key for it.
Sho Kasaki
Exactly. Customize is so special, you actually have to look for it instead of hit a button and having it appear for you.

For some ultimatly bizzare reason GW have decided to reverse these as default! (I'd be very interested in the reasoning behind this if anyone wants to venture a guess) I reccomend changing this straight away, for me it makes a big difference, because its now more in line with other games that I have played and dont have to 'Re-learn' my finger coordination, which comes as second nature. Its also worth noting that the key next to '1' is not assigned (normally the console key)... I have it assigned to skill '8' which is sprint... a very nice easy to reach key for running emergency. Also 'F' doesnt seem to be assigned to anything, another valuble key in any game.. this I assign to '7' which is Endure pain... again, nice and close for emergency infusion of health.. along with the quick sprint key I am confident that when snow starts melting I can run to fridge quickly I dont know about anyone else but I find it difficult to use 'C' as 'target closest'.. as a warrior I need to target closest very often. So I have RE-assigned 'T' to that function.. I'm in the thick of battle, I dont know enough of whats going around me to 'call target' (default command for 'T') thats a rangers job.. so I dont mind loosing that shortcut. I WISH ... oh how I WISH there was a way of making a Macro so that you dont have to press a key to target, then press space bar to tell snowman to attack, and THEN have to activate a skill... bloody annoying that you need so many button presses just to attack. at least make a bind for 'target closest' then 'attack'.. pressing one key less in battle will make all the difference.... anyone else agree? The Snowman How many games have you played? Have you heard of wasd? Baratus
I've seen several posts requesting macros in this thread. Well, I have macros. In fact I have 27 I can do whatever I want with. Check out the Saitek Gamer's Keyboard. It comes with what they call a "Command Pad" that has 9 keys, and two seperate keys, each allowing alternate modes for the 9 keys. You can pre-program it for virtually any game or even Windows use, time key-strokes, and more.
Now the downside to using a macro-pad. I play a lot of first-person shooters as well as RPGs, and use the pad in many of both types. Problem is, if somebody else finds out you're macroing and he/she doesn't have a macro-pad, they usually start moaning about how big of a cheater you are. I am accused of cheating all the time in two online FPS games because instead of stopping and leaving myself wide-open while I type in a chat-phrase or set a variable, or do anything else, I simply tap one of my keys on that pad and keep playing. Yeah, I use it in GW also. I have my warrior's main attack timed perfectly. It will use balanced stance, sever artery, gash, and then final thrust. I have a few others, but I'm not giving out all my combos ! Sajittarius
ok when i first started playing i setup my screen, been playing like that for awhile now but after reading this thread i decided to go back and revamp. I might post it after im done, gonna do more switching tomorrow. I noticed when i play sometimes i don't notice effects on me so i moved that right on top of my skill bar. My only problem as of right now, is that my main pvp playing is on my mesmer and I really have trouble switching between 2 or 3 targets that i need to shut down. I know they have "select player x" where x is 1-8 in your group, but they don't have any way of fast switching from say: enemy 7 to enemy 4, unless your lucky and the tab does it for you. I wish there was a way to set like 2 sticky targets to say player 8 the prot monk and player 4 the annoying e/mo (or spirit spammer, or whoever the hell my party is whining that they need to shut down :P )... if anyone has any ideas i was thinking of telling my whole party to ctrl click their corresponding number so we all have a target set, but its difficult in pick up groups to get that sort of thing working. It's killing me because i know i can do my job better if only they gave me this one ability...
m1970c
We shold also have skill sets that we can make up (only changable in towns/outposts) just like the weapon set
LD50 The only thing that you can't really tell from looking at that, is I put the effects monitor vertical along the side. Kinda hard to read it in the screenshot because it's overlapping the district desplay. |
