Ok guys, you can get candy cane shards in two ways. From opening collector gifts, or random monster drops. So just farm a moster like charr or grawl so you get shards and collectors items to go get gifts.
Also don't you think this is wierd:
Dwana: spread as much christmas cheer so you can get rid of it as fast as you can.
Grenth:Ruin christmas for everyone to make it last longer. lol
It should be like, Dwana hates the cold so go melt snowmen, and grenth loves the cold so go kill the grentchs trying to ruin it.

To answer some recent questions:
Grenth's quest is no longer bugged in American servers, the onion seems to have been removed. Never saw the onion. Got the update around midnight EST, then got another update about 15 minutes later (after finishing Dwayna's quest).
No, doing one quest does not remove the other.
All servers should have update by now.
Candy cane shards are also drops.
Dwayna's quest reward - gives a skill point, didn't see that listed, but may have just missed it. This is in addition to 5k exp, gingerbread focus (+5 energy), and gingerbread shield. Grenth's does not give skill point. Thanks for the skill point in the stocking Anet!!!!!

Did anyone notice when doing the snowman quest that the grentch boss has an elite skill? I didn't catch what it was. Is it new? Has anyone tried to cap it?

don't think they heal, didn't help my mana, just a weird noise and an aura.... what are these things for?

Interesting thing to note: it seems that the presents you get from Grenth collectors -explode- and don't give you anything. Dwayna presents give you actual items.
I guess the point of this is to trick people? "Here, have a present.. EXPLODE!" or something? =p Anyway, if you don't want to waste collector item drops, make sure you're only trading to the priests, -not- the necromancers!
EDIT: Yar, I'm wrong. =p Grenth presents do give stuff, but.. it seems to be a very low ratio to me, I managed probably 2 items (candy cane shards) out of 12 or so presents; the rest were just the explosions.

Nonono, I mean the actual "Winter Present" item that you right-click to open. Dwayna presents can be eggnog, spiked eggnog, hat, or candy cane. the Grenth presents just do a green explosion. And, in fact, the two types of presents are seperate stacks in your inventory.

That shield is pretty sweet actually, considering it's the highest 'no requisite' shield out there

The Grenth presents also give you charcoal and shards sometimes. I got 4 out of 17 charcoal.

our guild is working on the quests right now, and I have gotten two candy cane shards, one from a caromi and one from a bog skale blighter. And my guildmate just got one off a wraith.

I have had candy cane shards drop from the gargoyles outside of nolani academy, the grawls outside of ruins of sermia, and from fire imps outside of lion's arch. I expect that either any enemy can drop them, or enemies that drop the collectors items can also drop cc shards. Now, if I could just find that darned crafter. . .

I find it odd that there are more than one types of candycane shard. Like from dwaynas gifts I got a shard and its different from the two that I found from monsters. Anyone know whats up with that? And will it matter with the crafter if they ever put it in?

i used a candy cane outside, because it said its not able to be used in town/outposts. and it gave the guardian effect. but gave me +hp regen

anyone catch the names of the Brrrl Snowmen? Can you guess why they named them Brrrl?
Answer: In the old classic Roudolf the red nose reindeer the snowman whom tells the story is voiced by the old singer Burl Ives! I guess to honor him they named the Ice creatures Brrrl.

Just a note, the candy cane shards you get from drops are different from the candy cane shards from opening a winter gift. The dropped ones are salvage items, the others are just items. We'll see how this affects the crafting when there actually is a crafter...

Does anyone know if the weapons are customized/will be customized for whatever character makes them? I'd love to be able to share my wand across my characters.

On the subject of the effects on those Candy Canes, I've discovered a nice little effect.
Step one; grab a candy cane at the nearest collector, then head outside and run face first into groups of Avicara/Mursaat/your painful species of choice until your death penalty has built up to a nice 60%.
Step two; chomp down on the candy cane and watch your DP vanish.
They have to be one of the most useful items I've come across. I'm going to bring a giant stack with me whenever I go anywhere from now on.
(Also, I've just tested this in the PVE areas, not sure if they work in PVP)

I just want to know when the candy weapon make will be in.....anyone know? cause I looked around and he wasnt there....I did all of the 5k xp quests tho.....just cant find that dang weapon maker!
