They're generally worse because Bonelace Armour and Shields Up! will reduce it's damage, other than that not much. Unless piercing damage...

Frozen Forest is where I got mine, about halfway to the Copper Mines. He will have already casted it on surronding mobs, you should just approach...

All I can tell is that it's a physical attack that has more resists vs it (Bonelace armor) So why would you ever would use a piercing axe over...
