Actually NR the guild is not pure spirit spamming. We won against them in HoH today and they had a spammer, but didn't hide themselves behind...
Shouldn't be much of a challenge if you skill right. We won HoH with 8 Monks yesterday, so they can hold their own

Smiting won't work because it isn't elemental damage and therefore NOT converted into cold damage
Nobody forces you to play a W/Mo - you can easily change your secondary class. It's like an E/W complaining that he is very easily overwhelmed...

I needed well over ten attempts until the Monk boss spawned for me there, normally it was the Mesmer, sometimes the Ele and rarely none at all....
