There's definately ways to work around Mark of Subversion on these guys using a 55 build. When fighting groups of 3+ make sure you cast PS...
If you head out of Temple of the Ages and go south east there is a swampy area that has a bunch of Nightmares. Those things drop like 20-30 dust...
Henchies are also great for solo running. I ran my lowbie warrior pretty much everywhere pre-asension: Grab all the squisy henchies your group...
