i think you need 2-man for forest and cave , can't kill the armored cave spiders alone , and need to be very lucky to kill a abyssal

i've heroes all missions , but i'd say gate of madness and dzagornur bastion (really a pain du master it with hench/pug)
my Mow never uses spiteful spirit , but olias uses it fine
