I don't see that the game is oriented to "Ascended" characters. The only areas that can't be accessed by un-ascended characters...

You just have to do one of the Secondary Changing quests, you do not actually have to change your secondary. Also you only get the atribute quest...

Port Sledge is southeast of Droknar's Forge. Exit into Witman's Folly from Droknar's and go south and east.
