The enemys need to be within your pets agro range and you have to have the pet locked on IIRC

I didnt notice anything when my Ranger had the set. The only clipping i saw was very minor when you are in a battle stance.
It would seem EotN happens perhaps a few years after the defeat of Abaddon (after the statement on the EotN page on GW Website) I would say 2 or 3.
