You can get ritualist tomes from other players and use them if you already unlocked the skills. Otherwise, you must travel.
Once you've gotten the secondary profession you want, open up your skills inventory (default K) and switch from there.
It's not 'usually', it's 'definitely'. You can't have it without an enchantment/hex.

You're probably better off running another attack skill instead of Barbed Spear, and have someone else on your team provide the primer...
