probably the fact that your data file is about 3.85GB too big and/or your computer is fragmented. to get your data file size down follow these...

it could be that the graphics card is overheating a little, that was my problem with the frame rate dropping below normal.
for me the lag slows my framerate down to about 4FPS (i usually run at 28FPS) but only after a while of playing and sometimes not at all
a way to fix this is lock the enchantment by shift clicking it, that way the hero can't remove it at all
you can try opening the QuickTime preferences from Control Panel and changing the audio rate to 48 kHz and checking safe mode if it starts...
