[CotN] Instant Travel: Cross-Campaign Travel - Improvements and Discussion
Faer
Merged a pile of threads on the subject so that it's all in once place. From now on, let's try to keep the discussion of Map Travel between different Continents/Realms to this thread.

Cross-map travel is a huge deal, the biggest current issue of the interface, and I complain about it on a daily basis. The amount of time it kills across the player base is enormous, around a human lifespan every few months.
They care about being efficient with their time, but not ours?

This is a great idea, i hate having to go from Tyria to say Gate of Anguish, or vice versa, gotta travel from GoA -> torment -> LA -> ELC say for a skill there then same to get back...

this game is filled with minor inconveniences...no harm in cleaning a few of them up traveling is a bit awkward and i've always wondered why it wasn't improved upon with the release of factions, or even nightfall.

Forcing people to load a huge area filled with a lot of different armor modes to load is not a good idea.
Just allowing to see each map without having to atually get there should be enough.

Yeah, something like this would be incredibly useful, especially during special events. Normally, I don't take much notice about the time it takes to travel between continents, but the special events are hosted in the port towns, and because of the masses of people all in the one spot, it takes about 5 minutes to load. I mean, I admit I probably shouldn't be playing on my laptop with 512 mb of RAM and a crappy graphics card, but it's still ridiculous.
Don't get me wrong, I love the events. I just don't like the crowds.

i agree with both points and would like to add another one...lets say you are in tyria...you want to go to sunspear outpost (one underground, forgot name) you have to shrink party down since kamadan has max party of 4.... adds even further frustration to travel.
as to needing port to travel to port.. you don't need to use ports in nf or factions if in one oupost and want to warp across water you just go there. do not need to stop at those ports and then continue with travels.....
my 2 cents anyway
opps didn't notice multiple pages lol

I really dislike the whole map travel to lion's arch or kaineng and end up in district one which takes forever to load.
I also have another idea, what if the map zoomed out one more level when map traveling.
Ex: you are in Lion's Arch and want to get to Sunspear Sanctuary in Elona. You would press "m" to get the current zoomed in view, left click to get the whole tyrian view, left click again to get a world map, right click Elona, then right click again on Sunspear Sanctuary.

/signed - the current method is tedious. Could just click the ship and load a continent map in real time.

I'm very grateful that we don't have to climb on oversized birds to go everywhere, but an improved would help Simply selecting from all the cities on when clicking the ship icon would really help

Yes, definitelly, The cities should be 'denoted' more than mere icons.
They should appear in the World Travel Icon.
And the Bone Palace should be a city. A city of Bones.

How about "tab-travelling"
4 Tabs for each map. just klick the tab you see the map and travel there
(4: tyria, cantha, elona, Domain of Anguish)
not hard to programm and easy to use

Yeah I would like a menu on each map when u hit M that u can just go anywhere, The portal in Elona is a pain in the ass.

My computer's not hopelessly low-end, but it's not exactly a perfect gaming computer either. Anything that cuts down on the amount of loading screens I have to stare at is beautiful in my book.

Not speaking for myself here but for those 56k connection players, I can imagine what they have to go through to map from a continent to another, It's something guildwars should have since the beginning.

i am sooo tired of being in the realm of torment...and wanting to go to lets say droks... i have to leave the realm of torment... leave nightfall...then map to droks... this is VERY frustrating with only 500 ram lol
i say:
make a little arrow at the bottom/corner of the screen and it says "Cantha" or "Elona" or "Tyria" or a little bar at the top that u can chose what campaign u want the map screen to show...
or have it like when chosing a district
then, the map screen changes, and u can warp from ANYWHERE to ANYWHERE (as long as u have the town/campaign)
PLEASE i am tired of long loads to go to one place... i stopped plaing my warrior because he was in droks and needed to be in realm of torment...just cause i was to impatient for the long loads...

I'm doing the Torment missions atm, and it's annoying if I want to go to ToA or somewhere for a Guild activity.

So dont be so quick to /notsign when you dont know how it really is.
As for the suggestion, I'll /sign this one because it would be nice to have faster, easier map travel.

You could always just go to your guild hall, open the map, and just use the boat to travel to any continent you want. The loading time for the Guild Hall shouldn't take too long unless your Guild is massively huge with ton of members guild mates hanging out.

To "-image" is to download every single file in the game, making sure your game is completely up to date.

(I slow load a lot. Takes me about 2 miniutes to load any zone, even after -imaging).
Anyway greenreaper, right click on the GW icon on your desktop. Hit Properties. where it says target "blah blah blah/GW.exe" add "blah blah blah/GW.exe"-image
Run it. Then after the game has loaded, go back out and delete the -image.

On my PC it's nothing bad (I mean, map travel), but on my laptop it takes something around 90-100 seconds to go from RoT to Shing Jea.
