I think its pretty funny listening to peoples opinions about Dervishes in particular. Some go around screaming that they are over powered and others laugh at how bad they are.
Like ALL professions they have their ups and their downs. But that doesn't answer the question at hand.
I'm sure after reading this some people will disagree but Dervishes have the potential to be a very dominating profession.
First the skills. The God skills a very different style of skill that guild wars has seen and I think they fit in fine. Used at the right time they can turn the battle.
Also the fact enchantments are meant to be removed it often can be a win or win situation.
The scythe is also a very different weapon and I think it is very useful. You know it feels good when you are killing more than one person. Its pretty funny when people jump you and die, and it makes a more interesting game. And perhaps some very fun farming builds...But anyway.
So what I am saying is, don’t be put off by the HUGE amount of noob Dervishes. Right now when you get a Dervish or Paragon on your team in RA you just know you're at a disadvantage.
So anyway, discus, flame, add your input.
[MERGED] Balancing Dervish Profession

Personally I think Dervish is a good profession. Besides as has been said many times already. Its a beta event. Let people bitch and whine all they want. ANet need this important data to help balance them out for when nightfall is released. I mean they can't balance them unless they are put to a full scale test.
I do find the blades on the Dervish robes a bit funny. I can see ANets latest skill. Spinning Battle Dress. XD

I'm pretty sure someone mentioned it somewhere already (or maybe no one did), but as soon as I saw the effects of the Derv enchantments on the premade dervs ("your attacks cause holy/earth/cold damage"), the absorption "nerf" came in perspective. Dervs have a slightly better chance of killing warriors with that.

3 Dervishes and a monk, 1 Dervish focuses on scythe skills (cripple, bonus dmg, bleeding, etc.) The others run around and smite the crap out of everything....it's great.
The best thing Dervishes do is they remove those annoything "bridge jams" on Saltspray....once Dervishes hit the main battle cluster...it's whoever's left that moves up the battlefeild.

8 D/Mo teams dominating HA with no possible counter made me hate that class. They have real issues and the bad thing is that either way they gonna be overpowered or just worse than warriors. Also I don't like idea of making warrior/monk/ele in one profession and giving it such powerfull primary as mysticism.

I really don't know, I absolutely love my dervish. In the right situation they do more damage than anything I've ever seen. In the wrong situation they do next to nothing.
The main fact I want to emphasize is that playing a good dervish is harder than playing a good anything else. You have to constantly be watching your enchants, your health, your location, and your skill bar. Things like pious assault are godly, but if you play poorly and your enchant runs off...

I personally think it'll end up a lot like the Assassin. You'll get 3 groups of them if you think about it:
1. People who then take a caster secondary, so they can actually have a ROBE. (I know a couple Assassins that took Warr second, for the leaner body.)
2. People who enjoy the class for what it is, and play it well to its strengths, while trying to stay away from counters.
And 3. People who roll one because "OMGSYHTEOMGROXXOROMGOMG1337OMG." (Naruto fanbois...)
Personally, I'm hoping to fit into group 2, but I'm in 1 right now

You know everyone says they are overpowered because when in the right conditions, and when the right person is playing one, a Dervish can be extremely powerful BUT take a Dervish out of that enviroment and you not left with much.
I actually like that about the class. With Warriors its a bit like playing Superman.. sure sometimes there is kryptonite but most of the time your just really freaking invincable.. Dervishes are like Batman.. sure he couldn't just run up and take a bullet but the things he figures out in the enviroments hes in are muce more impressive.
I personally really like the pack hunter. Its like playing a character with a mounted machine gun. :P

I thought they rapped too, the took down wammos like nothing!! But then I watched how fast a mes and decro degen team ate those bastards up like nothing!!! to beat them you just gotta split up and spike the crap out of them ^_^
Personally, I like them though...not as much as the sin but I like them
