Has anyone else created their own guild of 1?

Unfortunately I have been in and have left several guilds.

I will not bore you with the reasons other than to say that even advanced age of members and officers/guild leaders does not = maturity.

Every time I have been guildless I have been hounded with requests to join guilds while I am in a town or a PuG.

I try to give a polite reason as to why I do not want to just acccept any old inviataion to join a guild. However, this can often lead to the inviter getting mad and using insulting language etc. etc. Im sure u know the story. I have accepted a few invitations like this but it has never gone well.

SO this time for 2100 gp I decided to form my own guild.

I named it
I designed the cape
I have a cape and a tag

no one knows I am the only member and no one asks me to join a guild

I can take my time to look for another guild if I choose - or I can just stay as I am. I have several good frinds that have scattered to other guilds after the breakup of a guild we were all in - maybe they will join me in my guild one day

I know its quiet but no more so than if I was guildless.

Have many other done this?

Are there any allinaces of mature players with very low number guilds.
That is something I hasve considered looking into.
I know there are some very low member guilds and wonder if there are allinces I might join.

- so for now Im curious if any other low member guilds are out there, and are happy to remain small ?

I prefer to be unaffiliated and got tired of all recruit offers so I started my 1 man guild. And I love it, I have friends in other guilds and when they need my help the pm and invite me. Works fine and I get left alone when I want to be alone.

I had like 6 guilds of wich 2 were of real success and i made lots of friends... But now i like 2 lay low and stay under some1 else's command. Ppl get tired and old u know, and leading a PvE guild is far easyer than leading a PvP one where standards are in most of cases at top. Take my adivce man, start a guild if u start it with v close friends but dont lead it... It's tireing GL

Same story than the OP here. I left my guild one month ago maybe. Yesterday I finally got too tired of the random PMs to join xxx guild. I even bought a guild hall, eh! Sigil are cheap nowadays...

Lol

Sir Mad - Ive been thinking of getting a guild hall too.

I actually have a second account with 4 characters that are just for storage that I invited into my guild - If my main account ever joins another guild the storage account can keep my guild alive.

Thanks for the stories!

I made my own personal guild also. It was so incredibly peaceful. Then I got lonely and begged a friend to invite me into his guild. It's been fun, and I'm glad I joined his guild. If I'm ever guildless again, I'll just remake mine and all will be well once more.

I had my Kaguya Connection running for quite a while until I found a fun guild to join, so I suppose 1-man guilds are pretty common in the end.

Much nicer to play (especially as a monk) when you have a guild tag behind you, much less of the "hay lolks want to join our UBAR GUILD OF SUPAR STUFF"-spam. :b

I dunno, it just sounds lonely to me. One of the great aspects of GW is the community and interaction with guildies/allies. Henchies are OK but kinda boring, PUGs can be OK but are often more of a pain with griefers and quiters.

Find a good guild home, it is the better option.

I did the same thing. Playing my monk through the missions when I was starting him made everyone try to invite me. I got irritated and started my own just to stop the invites. No longer though; I've joined another guild.

Maybe Anet should put in something to let people block guild invites without having to have a guild...

It's more about random PMs to join a guild than guild invites. People generally don't send blind invites - I got maybe 2 or 3 and that's not that annoying as all you have to do is to click "refuse invitation". However, having people PMing whenever you are in a town, or in PvP, or in missions with PUGs is kinda boring.

You know, when I was in my last guild, I spend more time with the members of the guild I had before than with my guildies. I didn't want to join it again because I know how it works and don't like it, and to be honnest there are a few people in it I'd rather not play with. But you don't feel lonely nor have to PUG everything if you have a long friend list...

Anyways, I've also made a one man guild before. It gets annoying after a while to have to deny guild offers everytime you log on.

In my own one man guild right now, don't have enough play time anymore to be dedicated to a guild. So i made "Ninjas Of B B Q Bay [BBQ]" and use my hall as an AB port if i feel like it (Nomad's Isle ftw!)

Ditto. When I first started all the invites and whispers got to be too much, I made a guild with a friend so we could get some peace and quiet. That lasted for several months and then my friend stopped playing. I got lonely, so I joined my current guild, best move I ever made .

When I took a break from Guild Wars I wasn't planning on coming back, so I nuked my characters and left the guild I was in.

When I did come back to the game I had lost all my advanced characters and was starting over, so I just made a guild of one... it seemed a bit weird to return to my previous guild. I'm a PvE player with 2.1k hours over the last 15 months on my /age, but no character even a month old at the moment

Maybe when I've got my characters up to a half-decent* level of ability again I'll seek another guild, but for now I'm happy enough blazing around with henchmen and doing my own thing

I'm in my own 1 man guild because I find it annoying to try and look for a good guild that wasn't formed 2 minutes before the person begins spamming their recruitment ad. I've been in 1 ok guild but was kicked during a break from playing. Eventually I hope I'll find another guild with plenty of nice people and join up, but for now, at least I have a kick ass cape.

Yes I did and then I had one person join me because they wanted to help me out then another person left their guild which was quite large with alliances to join mine.

So its a 3 man guild now. May try to get into an alliance later but I'm not looking foward to the alliance chat and all the people that are in tall the other Guilds.

Well, It has been a week since I started my guild of one and started this thread. I am enjoying my private guild far more than I ever thought I would.

I have a Hall and have purchased a few npcs for the hall.

I play 90% PvE but every now and then I do really enjoy PvP, but I ve always got RA and TA for that and Ive gone into AB a few times.
I thought I would miss GvG with such a small guild but I have discoverd the Fort Aspenwood mission, which is kind of a GvG scenario.

I mentioned that I would be interested in an alliance with other small guilds if anyone wanted to.

Arknow and Quid Pro Quo - If you want to form an alliance of small guilds I believe it would be to our mutual benefit. If u want to chat or join in to assist alliance members ---> turn Aliiance chat on - if not, turn it off.

For no real reason, other than the fact that I have been playing a bit of the Fort Aspenwood mission on the Kurzick side, I chose to ally with the Kurzicks.

If anyone wants to try an alliance of small guilds PM me - I think it will work.

i'd join the alliance lol. just don't expect me to throw a whole lot (or any, for that matter) of faction into the guild alliance, as i use it to get amber for gold. but yea, it would be cool to have some people to talk to or get together and do a gvg with.

Yup,

I made my own guild of one, with an allaince.
The Ones You Never Knew [one]. I tried to recruit but spending xxx hours in Ascalon City just to recruit a quitter doesn't seem very nice. So now I'm sitting in my hall (Kurzick one) spamming random things on alllaince chat.
Yeah, I got it gewd.

My friends and I have been together for longer than guildwars has been out (since about 1999) always the same size. That size is a whopping 4. We've tried recruiting but some people were creepy (brings up bad memory) others were jerks so we just keep our 4 man group we are very close nit.
For those wondering weve played/are playing:
Guild Wars
Battlefield 2
Counterstrike Source
Counterstrike
Half-Life2 Deathmatch
Battlefield 1942
Delta Force Black Hawk Down
Swat3/4
Unreal tourney 2k3
Mechwarrior mercs
And uh I think thats it. Yay for small guilds!

I've made plenty of 2-man guilds with my best friend but it never really worked out. There was one guild i made called Fifty Fives [FF] but then this guy ruined it.. and we were screwed... I've made a few more after that, and now I'm in a 3-man guild: my friend, me, and my second account :P

EDIT: Just formed an alliance with another 2-man group, if anybody else wants to join =/

Sure. When my mesmer started to get near lvl 20 I couldn't walk 10 seconds without someone asking me to join their guild. I joined a few times but all they ever wanted from me was to play pvp, gvg, pvp, gvg, pvp, gvg... It seemed almost like some sort of harassment at times. I just wanted to play PVE and acquire some skills and experience. And also 13-year-olds acting all macho was getting kinda boring.

So I ended up creating my own guild, TaT (Theres An I In A Team) a couple of months ago and I've been doing my own stuff. Playing PVE, mostly Prophecies but a little bit of Factions as well.

A couple of times I've thought about joining a PVE guild or one of those guilds for "mature people only." I usually do all the quests and missions with henchies but when things get a bit more difficult I join a PUG to get things done. Also when I want to make some money or just want a little challenge I join B/P groups in Tomb Ruins or FoW. I've done some UW-trapping too.

But the problem is, the more I play with PUGs the happier I am about the fact that I'm NOT in a guild. Unfortunately there's just so many people who act like jerks. If they die they start calling everybody else a noob or something and then just leave. Especially many so called "exp players" seem to behave like this. That's not a sign of experience if you ask me... If it's so difficult to accept the fact you're gonna die every once in a while why are you even playing this game?
