My spare account has its own 1 man guild even with a guild hall.

Hey all,, the thing that is most important I have found is that we play,, 19 months ago when guildwars first came out ( not the beta ) I was involved with one of the biggest fps guilds at the time. A bunch of us when guns were boring play'd d2. We had heard that a splinter group was releasing a new game called GuildWars. Well, on its release we all bought and started to play the game and found it to our tastes and formed a guild by pooling our gold as it was expensive at the start (hehe). After about 4 months the guild fell apart as peeps lost interest when the game was beat and the only thing to do was pvp or farm. Out of 20+players there are only 2 of us left. The 2 of us had to leave the guild as the guild leader was a no show for 2 mths. So we started a new guild (JakL) but we did not recruit it was "yo can I join you as I don't have a guild and you helped me out alot" As I don't kick peeps and all are officers "all chiefs lol" we now have an active crew of 3, no logs 6, up to 10mths,,with alot of peeps moving to bigger guilds, lol" We have tried different guilds and found them disbanding or rosters like ours after a time" But like the one guy/gal above we put a smurf acct. in charge of our org. guild while with another, so we have never been capeless.
In the 19+ months of play regardless of being in or out of a guild your gonna get an invite from someone hehe. One of the best ways to avoid a, I need you now but leave you later is let the recruiter know you will add em to f-list and you can tell if it is gonna work for you or not as by how often they are online as you are. If so then join thier vent or ts an play with em awhile. Then make the choice. But I like the idea (with the release of factions and the concept of alliances) as now the little guy 1+ can align with another. Cause everyone likes a little alone time "sometimes" during play, working on this or that. Even with Vent or TS only one person can talk at the one time in a channel. So with a long story the moral is you can't please all the people all the time find something that pleases you and become flexable.

Sigils are only 7.5 p now :-)
I was in a pretty decent pve guild at one time , then went to play some other games for a bit, after that i just stayed by myself, I could have went back to my old guild , but really didnt feel like it .Got tired of the tells asking to join others though. My simple answer was always politie no thanks.
Finally made my own and made a cape, then broke down and got my self a hall too.
Im happy , plenty of characters and campains to play :-)

Hehe, I'm in a 1-man guild right now. I used to be one of the lead officers of Fox Hound Unit/Fox Hound Soldiers. We joined the Section Five alliance a month or two after I joined the guild. It didn't last a long time, eventually everyone except the loyal officers of FHU/FOX went inactive, and we got kicked. I got a lot of invites to lame guilds that just didn't sound too fun. I got sick of being bugged every time I went into a town, so I formed a guild, got a cape, and bought a hall.
Eventually I got bored with being the leader of an empty guild. Now, I log on every few days to remember the good times, and try to recruit. But everyone wants a high-ranked guild with lots of members.
I guess I'll just have to keep trying, or maybe I'll just resign, and try to join a guild.

my boyfriend and I so totally did this. I was sick and tired of people asking me to join their guild >_> I wasn't sure anymore if it was a compliment to my playing or just the fact I was a girl character (i got more invites than my boyfriend obviously).
so we made a guild for ourselves and it provided another channel for us to talk through
Then his brother came back from his slumber and he joined the guild. then one of my long time online pals got GW and he's in. I'm hoping to get another friend of mine to get back on GW :O
so it's really just a little tiny guildie o-o that I paid for cos I'm the rich on of the bunch..xD

Interesting thread
Anyway right now I'm currently in a small 3-man guild that was started by me and another really close friend of mine. We always played online games together and I actually got him to play Guild Wars. We were in many guilds together but always found that a lot of them tend to break the promises they make during recruitment such as having many active and helpful members. Sometimes I'd be in one of these guilds and not even have a single person say a simple hello whenever I greet the guild in the guild chat (even when there were several people on, including leaders and officers lol). Once this same friend of mine convinced me to join a guild that a couple of his real life friends had made. I agreed to it and it went well for about a month or so. It was a exclusive PVP guild and we did pretty well. Got rank 200+ and made a few HOH (or HA as it's called now
) victories. Unfortunately I started to realize that these guys were a bunch of morons and jerks a lot of the times. Whenever on our vent server they'd always act like a bunch of immature toddlers. Eventually I decided to leave because even my friend got fed up with it. I think they ended up disbanding a couple months later lol.
I don't know if I'm just too picky or what but after all these same experiences I decided that I'd just make a little guild made up of my IRL friends who play. Unfortunately I only have two that are interested in the game XD. Also these two rarely play anymore so its gotten quite lonely. I'm trying to convince them to get back into it. Not really successful yet but hopefully I will be as time goes by and maybe even get some of my other friends to play.
It does get lonely at times and kinda tough not being able to type up in guild chat if you need a few extra people for that really tough quest or mission. Though I like not being disturbed when I play. Most of the time I don't even have that much time to log on or be dedicated to one of those bigger and more well-established guilds.
I've heard some of your ideas of just making an alliance of small guilds and I'd be interested to join any of these alliances that may already be out. If you want to contact me about this give me a pm on the forums or something. Oh and btw I'm currently Luxon alligned but maybe willing to switch

I created a one man guild (Apocalypse Apparatus) for conveniece. I have the ability to change sides from kurzick to luxon anytime I want, host any scrimmage and invite guests for self promoted tournaments for prizes, and join any AB. That and the hall is fully stocked from a month of hard work for NPCS. No guild politics and no drama. And I don't recruit. Somehow I find solo playing more enjoyable since the release of heros.

Anyways, I am a very social person, and I like to talk, so I'd be lonely all by myself. And since I have this view of things, I also believe that people enjoy talking and being a part of something. I can't see why you would want to be alone O_O no offense meant at all. I'm not a powerhouse of a recruiter, but when I see somebody without a guild in my group, he either becomes another respected member in my guild or a buddy on my friends list. Don't get me wrong, I remember them all(cause I'm L33t like that

I got really lucky and was given a guild with an almost complete hall from a guy in kaining that was tired of trying to sell it. so i redid the cape and when my best friend started playing guild wars i recruited him, and now i can teach him everything i know without other guildies bothering him about being new.
We joined an alliance with a larger PvE guild and if we ever get annoyed with them we can leave without losing our guild.

I once made a guild to just get away from the "Hi, you are going to join my guild now or I will do the male Warrior /dance !" and other /slaphisface invites to guilds.
Seriously, people just come up to random people and try to recruit them.
COME ON, if you want to recruit players, go out there and do missions/quests, team up with people, ask a guildless person who you've been playing with for a couple of times to join your guild, but don't just go to some random guy/girl and say 'Join my guild?'.
I mean, if you're going to say that, atleast try harder..

my very first guild a little after I started the game got to about 8-10 members.... now I make guilds all the time for fun, mainly because of the cool new logos that are made every once in a great great while o.O
I just disbanded my last guild a week ago, I am just thinking of a name for my next one

My guild has only 6 members in, and our alliance has 6 guilds with all around 10 members each in, they are all very funny and mature and you can have a good laugh and you're not pressured to recruit.
Slowly I'll start recruiting people, lol.

I did have a guild with only me in it, to escape the mass recruiters. It was called Empty Guild [Solo]. I disbanded it for a joke (don't ask).

=D After getting to amazingly angry at how ignorant and mean some people can be to me (and that I hate megalomaniacs when it comes to capes where the guild votes and the leader rigs the poll) I made my own guild with a decent cape. I was alone until I invited my best friend, who is currently at my house. Yay.
We're mature in the fact we type legibly and don't rant about other people's boobs. [if you don't get that last part, join a big alliance for a week]

Yup! Made it in July 06. Called it I Like Jumpers [WARM]. Really I just wanted to design my own cape, then thought I'd have it for those who also just wanted a cape and do not want to be active members at all. Eventually I got me sigil and saved over time to get the important NPCs and made my partner and a friend captains (the friend went back to WOW after the trial weekend).
I invited a few people, but they left quickly for mysterious reasons (I guess that happens with an obligation free guild!). Now we just use it as a convenient and quiet place to shop, empty our inventories and take turns designing the cape.

Well, as an update to my post on this thread back in October, the accident has happened. My guild has grown to 7 people.
Now I have to learn how to manage a guild.

after handing out tons of golds/greens/plats/mats in a long list of guilds, i have gotten fed up and the result is being in my own "trustworthy" guild.
I used to be generous and just give all sorts of good items away with the rule "it's free if it's for YOU, please don't sell"...or "all i ask is that you show the same generosity"
I don't have enough fingers/toes to count the times i've seen those very same people(that items were given to) spamming: "WTS...blahh...blahhh..blahh"..
the time spent recruiting members, just to have them leave after getting a run to a specific place. Grrrrrrr....
the peace and quite is nice, but it does get lonely...

lol i know wha you mean and if you get into a guild with 50 plus then you have the problem of only 6 poeple being on out of 50 and none will want to do anything questing or missions these days its all about solo farming this and that guild wars is about poeple getting to gather and having fun how you soppose to do that when eeryone is soloing everything
dont get me wrong i also solo every now and then but i would like to have someone to talk too and that thats why i run pople alot at least most of them will talk to you for a while im in a guil dnow that has 7 pople and all are friend ly and talk alot butmost solo farm everything

I was in a GREAT guild from about May 2006 to around December, did a ton of Deep runs, HA, etc. but finally it broke up over time and got down to ~5 people. I had lots of good friends in it (which are still on my friends list atm) but I left and have been in my own guild of one: Ice Dragoons [Drgn] for a month or 2 now.

while my guild has not only one member....we have 3 people....my husband and his brother started it and then I joined....so we are a guild of 3. pretty small and seeing as my brother-in-law works 2 jobs now he is rarely online so its usually just me and my hubby.

my current guild situation is odd. I am in a one man guild, in an alliance with 3 guilds. Leading guild has two active members and the other guild has 7 or so. So the alliance is a lot like a small guild. Im in a one man guild because i fancied my own girly cape and no1 else would agree... =]

Heya all,
Enjoyed reading this thread.
I've currently got three guilds. Explanation:
The main guild is the big friendly active guild with all 60+ members. Don't start flaming me yet - I just need to set this up!!! Yes, sometimes we have issues/drama, but these are relatively few and far between. For the most part, with sensible recruitment, hard work and careful pruning, it is possible to put a decent guild together.
My other 2 guilds are 1 person guilds. I set these up with additional accounts I had gathering dust primarily to reserve guild names that I might want to use in the future.
For a while the main guild pursued the goal of owning an outpost, which it did with some success (we owned Tanglewood Copse when we were at our zenith). This can be a stressful job, particularly when certain guildies who were recruited to do a certain job, refused to deliver (yet were happy to claim the "glory"). We lost many guildies during this period and some were removed by me.
So I found a new function for one of my 1 man guilds - a 'rehab' guild. Any member who wanted to return to the main guild, after we retired from faction donation, had to first do some time alone (or with a few other rogue members) in the rehab guild. This was meant to be time for quiet reflection and contemplation for them
This would probably be bliss for all you
I sometimes briefly disappear from the main guild and use my chars in their 1 person guilds, but I know where I prefer to be. Each to his/her own, of course, and I hope you continue to enjoy your lives of relative seclusion.
All the best,
Doggie

Hello all
Its been a while since I started this thread.
I am glad to see so many others enjoy their own small guilds.
I thought I’d stop in and give an update on what’s been going on with my one man guild.
I must admit to leaving my guild several times and joining other guilds. Like many who have posted here I have a second account that keeps the guild alive so I can come and go easily enough.
All of the instances where I left were at the request of others that I join their guild. None of these attempts worked and eventually I sought the sanctuary of my own guild.
I even joined an alliance thinking that I would get the benefit of staying in my own guild but would also get the chance to group with others every now and then….nope…..I think I joined the only alliance where NO ONE ever talked in alliance chat. LOL Since I like to group up with others every now and then, especially to help others get through missions, I now find myself out of that alliance and starting to look for anther one to join. It seems like a good idea.
After reading the posts in this thread I’d just like to say to all the people who have commented that being in a solo guild is sad or depressing; that no it isn’t. It’s a place where we can play the game as we want to without putting up with some of the negative aspects that are the norm of being a part of *some* larger guilds.
I think most of us in a small guild would jump at the chance to be in an active guild full of friends that did missions, elite areas, and farming together. I know the most fun I’ve had in GW was when I was part of one particular guild that did just that. Sorry to say it fell apart.
Ill keep looking for the right group, heck I might even start recruiting myself,…*gasp*!!
Lets think about that for a while……..
All the best to those who have kept this thread alive

I get a lot of whispers from people when I get guildless. I usually humor them and ask them a few questions about it.
1) Luxon or kurz? (if kurz, the conversation ends quickly, which is why it's my first query)
2) TS or vent? (I ask about vent even thoguh I've never used it)
3) Is in an alliance/preferably leader of alliance
4) 60+ members.
5) Mature. Although most people lie.
Yes, I'm picky, but it weeds out the crap guilds.
I should try that next time I am guildless though. Seems like a good idea.
Although this guild I am in now i've been in for about 4 months now, which is a world record for me. I've been through like 20 guilds, rarely ever for more than a week or two.

I have just formed my own guild of 2 members, with my 2 accounts, as I have just started playing again after a 5 month absence involving massive PC chaos, working too many hours and buying an Xbox 360 (Oblivion...)
I will see how it goes for now, would be most interested in joining an alliance of similar 1 member guilds, it does sound far more satisfying than dealing with the lower element of GW players, and I miss the guild chat.

I quit PvP and this game with it 6 months ago and went off on a break. I'm back, the group of friends I played with have wandered off to beta-test another game, friends list is always greyed-out and the invite PM spam has started getting annoying.
If any of you 1-person guilds want to play together sometime, feel free to say hello. It does get slightly lonely sometime, though that has little to do with not being or being in a guild...it has to do with not running into any halfway-intelligent company.
I'm going to either stay guildless or just create a 1-person guild of my own. This thread has definitely given me some food for thought. Kudos to those of you who have gone this way.

reading this thread has reminded me of allot of the things i went through in the last year.
first day playing joined a guild with someone that i met questing in pre. next day got booted cuz i didn't have a pvp char and had no idea how to make one. needless to say, not sorry. second was Shadow of the serpent SOS, joined from invite from a questing friend. they were a good guild with allot of active members. my friend (one of the guild founders) and the guild leader got into an argument about the direction the guild was taking and most of the officers and quite a few members left. some of us started a new guild. tyrant peace keapers. had about 15 members or so till i got deployed and had to move houses, now it me and my wife as active members. the other members haven't been on in so long that GW auto promoted me to guild leader. i'd love to get rid of it, but i have close to 100k into the hall. oh well.

My temporary one man guild, Empty Guild [Solo], from awhile back is now a permanent one man guild, until someone wants to join for whatever reason. I just lost interest in guild activites and mass recruiters started to piss me off, so now I have a nice hall and most of the merchants of my own.
This'll be the guild I'm sticking with for the rest of my Guild Wars days.

I do have my one man guild too,
Santas Little Helper [XMAS]
I'm in a small alliance, 3 guilds including me, I think in total we can muster some 20+ ppl.
But I for one, like it this way. Alliance is kurzick and as I in the long run want both alliance titles, my guild for me can leave the alliance, swap Luxon and move on. Buddies are on buddylist, so no big deal.
If anyone needs a holding place for a while, let me know, I can easily invite in order to grant some "Peace of mind" .. or rather guild PMs. I mention this, as I'm sure more people read here out of curiousity.
GH is not full of all types of merchants, I take my time, I'm in no rush at all with anything.
Oh, for the record, I'm Euro, a nice guy and mature. Might drop off once in a while as I have two small kids at home, so going solo quite often gives me the option to play and watch kids, they can get restless at night once in a while.

I'm in a small alliance, 3 guilds including me, I think in total we can muster some 20+ ppl.

Some stories are nice to read. Most of my GW-time has been solo/guildless.
I think I will start my own guild too until cosmic coincidence allows joining a decent GvG-guild with non-QQing, ragequitting members and the patience to work things out.

When i first started the game, I really liked the capes so I made a guild just for the capes.

I originally went out to make a guild with my friend who'd be co-founder, but he's one of those WoW-lovers with a short attention span, and he left me. Now I leave his name on the roster as a museum exhibit so I can tell tales of his gayness should I ever get people in my guild. Also incase I do ever get my guild going, one day he might log on and be like "O_o" when he sees a ton of people on the roster. Of course, I lost interest in GW but came back recently.
I haven't been working to advance my guild's growth, currently I'm in a 1 person guild just so I don't look like a noob or a walking "INVITE ME TO A GUILD" neon sign. Someday when I catch up (and get Nightfall and Factions) I'll try to get it up and running. I have a cape, and am considering getting a guild hall too! XD
If I do get my guild running though, I'd prefer a smaller guild. I'm the kind of person who (as shown by my days with WC3 clans) likes small groups so we all get to know each other better, instead of a giant guild where it's just a giant balancing act.
I, too, decided to make my own guild for the sake of it being PvE. Most guilds are GvG and PvP.

Well, one friend who plays GW longer than me, did start his one-man guild, and very sweetly named it after his Beloved ... *happy sigh* It's just romantic, isnt it?
And the guy that is sitting next to me, on another computer, started his guild, but I bugged him into inviting me, then I made him make me guildleader.. I think I used a thread along the lines of "I wont be washing your sock for two months unless.." or "I am going to serve you brocolli and sprouts for dinner for a month and not have pizza every other day anymore! Unless... "
.. yeah, I am into that sort of thing. Anyway, he has been threatening to leave the guild now. So I guess tomorrow is pizza day! Gotta keep the members happy!
