Has anyone else created their own guild of 1?
Vahn Roi
I did once, it was called "Gray Hat [HACK]" It started out as a solution to all the clowns who would PM me randomly asking me to join their guild (I have been guildless by choice for some time now)
the most members [HACK] ever had was 3 including myself.

Unless... " .. yeah, I am into that sort of thing. Anyway, he has been threatening to leave the guild now. So I guess tomorrow is pizza day! Gotta keep the members happy! |
That should do the trick - trust me, I sometimes have to get the heavier root vegetables out from time to time to deal with some of the more obstreperous members

Personally, I just formed my one-man guild so I'd have a cape that matched my Warrior's armor

lol, I have my own guild right now......and I have spent about 45k on it :0

Lol I'm a guild of one too. One man army and all. I wouldn't mind joining a good close knit active guild but there pretty hard to find.

I got sick of not being able to find a guild that suited my needs. Maybe I'm just very picky. Some notable guilds:
* A pretty decent guild, but they were heavily into PvP which I have no interest in. One night I guess not many people turned up for a scheduled PvP thing and an officer posted an angry message on the guild's forum telling everyone off for it. I decided to quit.
* Another guild I was in was a personal record for me in how long I had been a member - roughly a week. Decent people, but again they were into GvG. When I said I wasn't interested in it, I was heckled. Had a chat to the guild leader later on (he was actually thinking of making me an officer because I was on every night) and I told him how I didn't think the guild was really for me. He completely understood. Top bloke. I kind of wish I hadn't left now, but I can't remember the names of any of the members.
* Joined a friend's guild. Heaps of people. Unfortunately, because they're all in Europe and I'm in Australia there was practically nobody on when I would be playing. Had a chat with my mate about it, he was disappointed but understood.
* Started my own guild, started recruiting. After ten minutes I realised I was terrible at recruiting ("new Aussie PvE guild looking for members who can spell. No hall, no alliance, but we have a cape!") and also had nothing I could really offer as a leader - I'd only been through Prophecies once and had barely scratched the surface of Factions and Nightfall. Joined a mature Aussie guild a few minutes later.
* Left that guild. Only five members, and nobody was online when I was.
So methinks I'll start my own guild again. Not really sure why I'm that hung up on joining one really. I think it's just the sense of community and belonging I'm after. Maybe I should just get to know my heroes better.

Guilds I've been in I've been officer most of the times because of my friends that were in it, but they were all rude people so I left and made a guild of my own. Yeah it's only me and my bro but I don't mind I still do missions and stuff with other people.

Yeah,
I’m in a one person guild as well (only one I’ve been in and it's never had any other members). I created it mostly just to get a nice cape. Now though, I’ve almost got enough money to buy a Hall (the price has jumped up to 29K!)
Unfortunately, I’m just a casual, mature player, with a full-time job, wife, and a 2 year-old, without TS/vent, owning only Prophecies who can’t commit to firm times to play. As such, I’m unable make the commitment necessary to be a full-time guild leader or a member in a competitive guild.
I wouldn’t mind if the guild grew to a small size with people in similar situations or joining another small guild of similar people. It’d be nice to be able to hook up with the same people once in a while and just have some fun with no pressure and semi-intelligent conversation.

My 2-man guild has grown to 7, but still feels smaller as we seldom have more than 2 people on at the same time.
I invited a new player who asked to join after I helped him with a mission. He started recruiting people, but now he's never on either.
It occurs to me that if I work this right I can have a huge guild where no one will ever talk to anyone else.

I just made a 1 man guild, now i have the cape I always wanted, and don't have to be bothered because of once i was guildless, it seems to give me more time to have fun with other people without being dragged along for some guild activities.

I'm currently in my one-man guild. I'm planning on starting a guild with some of my RL friends and had to have a change, since the game was getting very stale and boring for me. But if it doesn't work out, I'll keep my one man guild for the occasional moments I play.
yeah_hi
I'm in what used to be a seven-person, pre-Factions guild made up of RL friends. Then some went into the army and the rest only have sporadic internet access these days. Now it's just me.
I'm still keeping the guild alive 'just in case' they ever come back, but am considering letting it die and going off to join my partner's guild (we're in the same alliance already). His guild have welcomed me with open arms but... I miss my friends and feel bad about letting our guild (which existed in another game before GW) disband completely.
Foolishly sentimental, I know.

I have an absolutely excellent one man guild, and here's the story of it:
Originally, I formed PXZ for the sole purpose of adding a cape to my characters. After some very short lived attempts at recruiting (Top roster was three members total) I decided to just continue playing the game instead. Eventually I bought myself a guild hall and then I became intrigued with commanding my own organization.
So, I used PMs for hours until I got a few officers together and I managed to create PXZ into a respectable PvE guild with 25 or so members at its peak roster. However, I had to move so I left another officer in charge as guild leader. After my one month absence I returned to see that the cape had been changed and most of the members had left, with me back in command.
So after that the guild slumped, had a minor revival, then completely crashed. However...
I am now the leader of a fully stocked guild hall. The tag I originally chose, the name I originally chose, a hall, and all of the NPCs. I like it. It's a lot better to do my business in the hall than a major city. No massive merchant spam and every NPC is close by.
And I've finally got the cape to something I truly like.
Oddly enough, the guild has actually survived my original character (the one who formed it) because of my OCD tendencies. (As in, I deleted my 9 month character for no reason.)

The only ppl who do this are Monks so they won't have to bother with that invite as a lot of guilds would like one in thiers.

2 man guild here. In a 6 guild alliance lol. Meh I love having the cape
I want. Makes the difference between personal character construction
and picky guild members.

I have recently Created a guild to spite too many bad ones ingame, and the fact that I can never seem to get the people who I play w/(and they are top 100) to remember me, so my connections list has been pretty low
After bouncing from guild to guild and never being able to find a good guild(for pvp) I decided to create my own.
Farmers Used to Beat us[FUBU] was created on the 8th of april. I liked the name cause it was a joke a friend told me and made me chuckle, its a stand out name IMHO. I already got myself a Hall, cape and a TS server. I wanted a vent server but I'd have to approach an unfamiliar person w/ a recommendation from a friend, I didn't like that. This is a GvG guild I'll be starting, but its 1 man till I get things ready to launch ^^ it'll be east coast time players only and gvg 8pm-12pm/am when people are on, cause people have lives.

Incidentally, though, I was playing an E/R when I started my own guild... primarily because people wouldn't stop asking me to join theirs.

When I joined GW last September, it was because my RL friends were into it and I adored the whole "no subscription" deal. Unfortunately, I didn't really like their guild name or cape and was sick of the HOLYCRAPJOIN spam, so I made my own....Scions of Kushiel SCIK.
Eight months later, I'm now the head of an alliance with their guild of 5 people (2 inactive)...and I still love it. I've got a cape that I like and the freedom to change it whenever I want (love doing themed capes for festivals and stuff), the guild hall I wanted (Weeping Stone, I think...the Echovald one), and my very own game-wide chat channel for talking to friends...aka Alliance Chat.
Personally, I don't find it lonely at all, because I'm on a lot and over time my Friends list has grown with farming buddies (met some great people during the dbl point weekend, for example), random competent people from PUGs (rare, but they do exist), and the other cool people I've met during special events, etc. Someday I may move to a bigger guild to complete my Vanquish or Guardian title, but I've got other stuff I'm working on now and generally, it may take more time, but you can usually get a PUG together anyhow.

"The Silly Nannies" was originally my one man temporary guild after the disbanding of my previous one. But then all the members from that one ('cept the leader) wanted to join, so then we became an 8 member guild. We all knew each other from before Guild Wars, so we get along great. Then, one of the members' sister joined, and another person from the forum we all posted at joined, and then we recruited someone we never knew but who eventually became a good friend of everyone, and now we're an 11 person guild.
We've got a hall with almost all the amenities, and we PvP/PvE regularly. I gotta say, it is far superior to the big guilds (and eventually, alliances) that I used to wander in and out of. Plus, I have never worn a cape I liked as much as this one, probably because I'm the one who designed it.

i made a one man guild as i was fed up with the bickering in the alliance i used to be in.
it became a two man guild about a week later, and im single handedly trying to gain all the upgrades for the guildhall.
(me and my brother, he was in the same alliance, and had the same gripe with them)

Yep same here
Got kicked out of a guild and didnt feel like joining the very next one. So I was waiting for a nice guild to come across my path. However, when guildless people whisper you for join requests etc. so I decided to create my own guild for time being.. ^^

So far my one-man guild solution works very well. I play when I feel like it and I don't have to worry about organizing stuff, and I've played less anyway lately, so I don't have to feel "obliged" to play more.

I'm currently the leader of a 4 person guild. It's me, my husband, my stepson, and a good friend of mine. We got sick of weird BS in our previous guild (unfortunately, we were all in a guild with family members, and a serious family falling out made us think that we didn't need said family members' flaky weirdness) so we started ours to just have a place to hang. We love it, although we're seriously wanting to join an alliance of other small, independant guilds that we could trust to be decent players (they don't have to be great, just cool people who have a reasonable idea of how to play), to romp around with and do stuff with sometimes.

Metal Herc
I am the leader of my one man guild. I got sick and tired of getting all the random invites. Besides that the drama invovled in guilds was too much. Too many guilds with people complaining, arguing. Officers and leaders on power trips, people expecting me to get so much faction or having to play so much or show up at some time. It's a game, I play for fun, not for stress.
So I made my guild. Knights of the Green Sticky [KOGS] I have some of my personal friends form real life and in game that might join.
I think it's a MUCH better way to go than all these "big" guilds that have 3 active members and 100 poeple that havent logged in in ages.

with heros now, 2-man guilds are more popular, 2 guildies + 6 heros = guild.

I was in a guild with friends for ages, then I got a bit bored, and decided to make a new guild which is something that I'd thought about for a long time. Ao I made a guild and joined the alliance was part of before which is all small guilds with friends in, one of those is only 2 people

I'm in a one man guild as i go on my search for a new and different guild. So i was wondering, are there any one man guild alliances?
Stormlord Alex
I used to have my own guild, the Cats Base Army [CATS], mostly so I could have my own pretty cape (both of my accounts were in it).
Then an old friend, whom i met waaaaay back when I first played guildwars (I even remember firestorming our way through the catacombs with him), invited me into a medium, friendly guild, the Soul of Melandru [sOm], and I've been there ever since.
IMO, GW wouldn't be as fun without the alliance

I find the whole "community' thing guilds have very enjoyable, but that being said, each to his I guess.

I created my own guild of 1. I have a full hall, cape, and I'm not even in it. I made a close friend who never plays the leader.

wow it's funny as i read these posts it sounds so similar to what has happened to me. i was part of a large gaming community and we started playing guild wars together i started a guild for them then the powers that be decided they would become in safer words "unpleasant". so 7 of us left and started our own guild called Xx Edge Of Extinction Xx. we purchased everything for the guild it is a complete setup and is by far more enjoyable to play. we have done the recruiting thing and at first noone wanted to join because all we do is farm and quest all PVE. then a few people started to join and we are fluxuating between 8-10 people.although to try and give some of us a more larger feel that some might crave we did join a large alliance that doesn't require us to FF.
ValaOfTheFens
My former guild went down the tubes due to too many exchanges of power in only a few months and so I kicked my RL friends(we have a standing agreement that if I leave I could kick them) and left. Right now I'm the only member but I have 2 more members coming for sure. I started the guild and made a cape. I'm going to do runs(LA to TOA and Villainy and maybe Beacon's to LA) to make money to get a hall.
My guild's name is "This Guilds Name Is Really[Dumb]". It took me like 10 mins to come up with it.

Just recently I left another guild days after joining... the leader was a nazi and asked you what you we're doing everytime he or you logged on...
I have probably been in 10-15 guilds since I joined and the only guild I liked broke apart after the leader left..
So, I know what its like to be guildless and to receive invites non-stop.. and I am seriously thinking about making a one man guild.

Is a group of people Iv'e known and gamed with for the about 7 - 8 years now I reckon . We play all different games and when I got GW a few months ago I tried to convince some to join me . Unfortunately Iv'e not had the response I was hoping for and I am a guild of one . Iv'e been solo'ing through the game mostly , hitting a few Pugs now and again . I actually have 2 friends that play but they are rarely online and they are in another guild at the moment . I managed to save up enough cash for a guild cape so far but at level 17 Im finding solo'ing is becoming very difficult and I haven't played for a few weeks . I might drop the Ofc tag and join a more established guild just to get further along in the near future ...
