Curious, if they don't have it on a Friday, what makes you think they'd have it on a Sunday?

Well for those that have a Gamestop and/or EBGames near them ... They are calling it the 'Nightfall Starter Kit' not pre-order or pre-release. I pre-ordered from Gamestop about 2 and a half weeks ago.

Yes the web page displays the shipping date of 10/27/06. That is for the full retail box. On my order confirmation/ order status page 2 seperate shipping dates are shown :

I have called and confirmed that they are shipping .. The pre-release Starter kit bonus was processed for shipping but too late in the day for the Friday ship-out (they recieved them later in the day than expected). It has been processed for shipping and should go out first thing Monday morning. I will be calling about noon to verify that it has shipped. I will update this post as soon as I know for certain.

Well, around here in the English Potteries not one game shop had any idea what I was talking about. GAME, Gamestation, Another Planet, PC World nor anywhere else.

All I got was blank stares and a load of crap about pre-ordering the game. Not a thing about a pre-release pack.

To say I'm slightly pissed off is an understatement. I must have used at least £30 in petrol trying to get one.

One of my guildmates picked up the pre-release for $4.99 CDN (about $4.50 US: heckuva deal for a $10 US character slot!) in Newfoundland...

...and nobody in the biggest metropolis in the U.S. (NYC) can find it?

That's just bizarre.

Maybe NCsoft shipped the Nightfall pre-release pack mixed in with crates of AutoAssault, and they're buried in BestBuy/EB/Gamestop's receiving overstock?

Well, I went into Albuquerque today and stopped by Gamestop (there are really only two non-EB/Gamestop places in town that carry new software, AFAIK). The guy there was, thankfully, a GW player, and knew what I was talking about (I had brought printouts of the ANet press release and the product on the Gamestop website, just in case, guess they're scrap paper now). He said, more or less, that even though it was released, they didn't have any yet, and to call regularly to check up on that.

The thing I learned, which was surprising to me, was that it was included in my pre-order, and that when it came in, I would be entitled to one, on a first-come, first-serve basis for pre-ordering customers. So if you pre-ordered Nightfall from EB or Gamestop, you should find out if this applies to you. If so, just call them each day to find out if it's in yet.

For future reference: If you expect it to hit stores on 9/15, announce that it'll be there on 9/19. You'll save a lot of us a bunch of wasted effort.

You'd think with all the trouble in the past that Anet would think to maybe open distribution to other stores. We have a Hastings (which is the 'big' store here except for Wal-Mart). They never did have the Factions pre-order and told me that by the time they got the Prophecies pre-order, they literally could barely give them awaY (does that tell you how late it was?)

We order our Factions pre-order from Amazon. This time, I have yet to see it offered (I checked prior to Sept 15 and after). They do have an outside seller listed but the seller is charging $14.99 plus shipping (as of last night). Hmmmm, that's just a little high for me considering we need 3 copies.

All's i have to say is Thank God for Fry's! They had about a hundred of them on the shelves. The only problem is they are all first come first serve when nightfall releases. The local game stores got the "starter-kit'" in Saturday night...

this has got to be a bigger fiasco than Factions CE was. So basically they get us for another $5..just so we can get the weapons and extra slot? They coulda saved all of us a ton of headaches if they had just offered the bloody things as downloadable content from the GW Store.

Has anyone in the baltimore Md area been able to find one locally? I've been looking for one since late thursday nite and still no luck. Most of the EB/Gamestops I've tried say they don't expect it in until about a week before the actual game is released, *if* they get it at all. This is all very depressing.

Anyone have any luck finding the Pre-Release/Bonus Pack in the Dayton, Ohio (USA) area?

I've tried the BB south of town (went there Friday and called again today) the CompUSA and the gamestop south.

Well, if it wasn't there Friday, I doubt seriously it would arrive Saturday or Sunday.

I'm going to check once a week, max.

(Tuesdays is when most games arrive at Gamestop, I believe).

You are assuming there will be a 24 hour headstart for the people who pre-ordered. ANet has made no such mention of this. In fact, I believe I read something where they refuted this as part of the pre-order. Remember, for Factions, it was part of the pre-order package description. For Nightfall, it isn't, so I don't expect there to be a 24 hour headstart.

Go to manage keys it's not there.
Go to try to add it again the key is now in use.
/preoder does nothing.

You can't use /preorder to get the bonus weapons until you add your retail key for Nightfall. It also wont show in key management until you add your retail key activating the bonus slot and weapons. The only thing that is in error, is the message that pops up saying to cancel.

There was a bug that allowed people to spawn the bonus weapons early on the day it went on sale. After a few hours Anet patched so now it works as intended; and can't be spawned without the retail key. Though having been spawned before the patch; mine are still in my inventory

Hastings usually isn't the best place for new games. The ones I've been to, most games are used or have been around for a little bit. Great store, though.

Um...I got the pre-release bonus pack yesterday (Sept 18) and typed /bonusitem to get the bonus weapons for the paragon and dervish. I would like to know if I trash those customized weapons (due to lack of storage space), would I be able to get them later by typing the same thing?

I picked up the preorder bonus box today at Fry's in Palo Alto. They had quite a few. It also seems like /preorder still works with the nightfall items, I just tried it.

Yeah, I believe you can do the /preorder at any time.

Well I went into my local EB Games on the 15th and Preordered Nightfall Collectors Edition and to my "surprise" they did not have the preorder/starter pack. I asked them when they would have it and they said they weren't sure. So I went ahead and preordered and paid in full. Of course the guy behind the counter tried to tell me I should be playing WoW. I just rolled my eyes and left.

Today the 19th I called over there to EB Games and they told me that they still do not have them and I asked when they would have them. They told me that they would not receive an order of them until they had 10 copies of Nightfall preordered. I asked them if I would still get the preorder pack if there were not 10 copies preordered and they told me no that them getting the preorder pack was completely contingent on those 10 copies being preordered. Needless to say I am pissed.

I just got off the phone with the software person at the local Fry's and he was not sure what I was talking about and told me to call back and talk to the PC games guy a little later. If Fry's has the bonus pack instock I will just get it from there and get a refund from EB Games. I really hope EB Games is able to change their policy on this preorder deal. I doubt that I will be able to get the preorder pack before the event this coming weekend.

Wow, I just called Gamestop, and they confirmed the same thing. Number of current pre-orders: Two.

The good news is, I'm in no hurry to get the pre-release (as long as I get it with the game at least), although it'd be nice to drool over the art and sample songs early, it's not like my life is over if I don't get it a month early.

That said, it seems like a total waste of a "pre-release." Next time, I think I'll go to Best Buy or CompUSA and actually get a physical copy. The lady did say I could get my money back, so this is still an option for me, at least.
