Firestorm needs to be REMOVED from Guildwars

I'm not saying that it is a skill that should be used currently, all I'm saying is that it's just a skill. And unless I'm mistaken the title of this thread is 'Firestorm needs to be REMOVED from Guildwars.' And as it is rather evident both you an Avarre seem to think that it's an utterly useless skill that shouldn't ever be used. That's fine you can both hold that opinion all you want and don't ever have to use this skill or be in a group with a person with this skill.

All I am saying is why do you have to talk down to people who are just expressing their opnions? Why do you have to call us idiots and seemingly make light of how 'unskilled' we all are compared to you? Because unless you are the cornerstone of authority on all builds and you've thought of every possible build that could be made what gives you the right to talk down to us?

You say that the proper rebuttal is to provide a use for the skill, well personally I don't use firestorm anymore. But I also don't use a lot of the skills out there on a regular basis and if I'm going to be faced with the question 'should it be removed from the game?' I'm going to say no. Because if I'm going to come up with a new build and I want to test things out then I want to have as many options as possible regardless of how good or bad they are.

No, actually I was being sarcastic regarding gr3gs post about how everyone and anyone who can possibly be against getting rid of this skill or uses this skill is a compete and utter idiot. I was simply using the fact that his own post seemed to turn in on itself, acting somewhat like a paradox; I was using this to drive home the point that he didn't need to insult people and label them to get his point across. I did not mean to imply that 'bad' players need this skill nor that they have to use this skill. But why go so far as to insult and degrade them for wanting to make a choice?

Eh, I think you're reading too much personal animosity into my message. If you read a few pages back, I did note that this skill will (never mind should) never be removed from the game, and suggested that we be allowed to see our party members' skillbars to make sure no one is bringing it.

As for the matter of whether people who use it are idiots or not, I'll let the effects speak for themselves. They may just be clever but clueless, in which case I apologize for the harsh comment. I still don't wanna group with them, though.

Unless they're playing a hamstorm, in which case I totally want them because everyone knows hamstorms own halls.

Where have I done this? I have insulted no poor players - rather I hope that they will not use firestorm and bring a more useful skill. If you feel its degrading for me to want to advise players on things they should learn; not to bring a terrible skill... no comment.

Well I'm sorry, I must've missed the post where you stated that, which I think would be a fine idea; both never having it, the skill, removed and being able to see another persons skill bar. Personally I'd rather not be stuck with an ele that calls themselves a nuker and only uses firestorm. While using it to the point of breaking the good aggro that the other team members did and not listening to the team who tell him/her not to use it.

No its not (it was when I first started my elemental about 10 months ago).

If you actually read my earlier post in this forum you'l know why.

As I stated in the earlier reply:

Firestorm is needed for beginners in low-end areas.
Without it, elementals wouldnt survive.
They wouldnt get a feeling for nuking.
Its a lurning curve.

Its ability to scatter is needed in earlier areas, where you dont want to get agro'd by lots of creatures when you have low-level armor.

But in later areas once you get passed the point where you find meteorshower and better skills, then you stop using it.

Elementals suck at dealing damage?

Where exactly are you getting this impression from?

My elemental, when wearing its 15k granit armor, has max fire damage using sup fire.

The result of which is:

(going by guildwiki stats, because im at work and cant check)

MeteorShower - 93 dmg every 3 seconds
Fireball - 91dmg
Immolate - 51dmg for 3 seconds
Meteor - 91 dmg
Pheonix - 91 + 75 dmg
Rodgort's Invocation - 99dmg for 3 seconds

Combine that with elite fire attunement and mesma echo (assuming you know what they do - one keeps my energy up and one allows me to re-use a skill instantly).

I've completed the bonus section of DOD alone, while everyone watched on from the wall.
I've nuked entire groups of monsters in the deep and saved my team, when most were dead.
Ive taken out a 10 heavy group of trolls while exploring, in about 5 seconds.
The list is endless as to what ive done with my damage.

I cant speak for others players, and perhaps you do have bad experiences. But my elemental is anything but useless and anything but low damage. You cant judge an entire profession on the actions of a few.

That would be like me making the statement that all warriors are trigger happy agroing idiots, who always get the team killed by agroing everything in sight. Ive seen that happen on many an occassion.... but I know good players exist.

I just find it hilarious that you even came out with the statement "It's just that they suck badly at dealing damage.". THEIR A DAMAGE DEALING PROFFESSION!!!!

Elementals are only bad at damage dealing when teams dont let them regenerate their energy if need be. But I use attunement as mentioned, so that hardly ever happens.

I actually used an elemental strong team to hench cantha last night.

The two elementals blew away the enemies. And thats using henches!!
