I have never received a green drop in factions, and I have been playing since the release. I am hoping for some this weekend, but I am not holding my breath

As I posted in the other thread, I've soloed (without henchmen) over 20 bosses while Elite capping on my Rit/E in Factions, and have gotten one green over that time - Lian's Lantern. I've killed countless other bosses while just playing the game, as well.
That changed this past weekend, while I was soloing the Arborstone mission - I actually got the Milefaun (sp?) domination staff from one of the bosses.
So, now I'm probably around 2 for 50, so this WOULD improve my chances to about 1 in 10.
P.S. For those of you who are farming greens, I'm 99% sure that, due to the anti-farming code, that if you've tried to get SSkai's Sword by killing him over 300 times...that code kicked in about 290 times ago, so you're basically wasting your time.

I work for a company that changed only one line of code and that cost us over 10 million dollars in 10 minutes because of that one line of code. Granted ANet isn't in high-rolling business, but change code isn't necessarily "that easy".
For proper code change, rigorous testing must be done in order to avoid any long term negative effects. A production requirement change typically requires at least 1 week worth of testing and documentation.

Basically, we determined that there was a 2% chance per boss per person for a green drop. This is for real peoople, not hench.
I did SF runs with the same group for many weeks, both FA and Oro, and we found this rate to be relatively constant. Going with 5 was the best for cash accumulation, but going with 8 didn't diminish our individual chances for a green.
This calculation may not work for Factions in that the boss is only set to drop a single green, whereas in SF bosses could drop multiple greens per kill.
I don't have a lot of experience with Factions greens, as I find farming bosses in Factions boring, but I'd say that this weekend your chances should be somewhere in the 6-10% range for a green drop per boss.
Nice deflation of Canthan greens to come I'd say...

Therre are enough Tyrian Greens around
Nice to get some new Cantha ones circulating.
And this makes it accessable to all players.

So far, while playing Factions normally with a full hench team I've gotten
Lian's Lattern
Deathkeeper (shing jing green)
Wing's Axe
Merki's Gaze
Some of you guys who have never had anything drop either have really bad luck or just don't play as much as I do.

Can finaly get some of those greens that i've wanted like everthorns.

I wouldn't mind getting the Kaolin Blade from Sunjiang explorable. Did someone say this is farmable solo by E/A?! I find that hard to believe... this is the toughest district I've found in Cantha so far...

They aren't supporting Tyria because they want you cheap asses to go out and buy their most recent expansion pack, which until the 27th rolls around...is still Factions.
They'll have weekends like this for Nightfall customers only.

3 times more likely is better then normal, so it looks like a farming weekend. A “Big Trouble in Little China” farming weekend. Mr. Razorstone you and all your friends will have to wait till you gain favor with A-net.

No matter what number you multiply 0 by it's still 0. This has all the earmarks of the weekend when the scroll drops were supposed to increased by 3 I believe. Never saw any difference before or after. This will be more of the same. Pretty much a waste IMHO.

I again have to say I'm not complaining, but I do feel let down a bit. When Anerf announced they'd be postponing this by a week in order to make it 'new and improved', I was hoping they'd retool anti-farm or re-assign hench drops, or some new mechanic.......instead they just made 2x into 3x.....they needed a week to do that?

I dont farm Sskai for a 'living' so to speak, whenever a guildmate or a friend wants a Sskai I got get it and except for once I've never triggered the farming code. How many I've gotten? Rough guess would be about 15 Sskai's and 6 Geoffers and its not taken me 300 runs either.
Now I do a maximum of 5 runs at both and then go somewhere else.

Yes, if you take henchies it can take an awfully long time so either play with humans and divide the spoils or go solo. Greens drop pretty easily in Cantha.
Me and a few friend will definitely be trekking around Morostav Trail & Mourning Falls this weekend and we'll agree beforehand how we'll divide up the greens
Zamochit
A grenths/riposte build solo will take down ..Sskai, geoffer, jaqui, merki, reefclaw, milthuran, rajazan, scourgewind, ssaresh, pretty much anything that does melee damage that you can get one on one with without having to deal with a massive group...I personally prefer runs where you can take down more than one boss without rezoning like sskai/geoffer....merkis/rajazan...reefclaw/jaquis...It means i think that the farm code is less likely to kick in as you are killing more than one boss and it also makes it a bit more satisfying. There are obviously several other runs that can be completed by a W/N solo in this way too. Ironclaw for instance, but most of them only grant the oppertunity for one green drop (in my experience). I also wholeheartedly agree that this will bring the value of canthan greens down significantly, however I will be using this weekend as an opertunity to gather as many greens as I can from solo farming for two reasons....
1. I still have some guildmates who still arent suitably equiped and secondly...
2. Heros in nightfall will require equipment, and I dont want to be using them as a cash sink.
Something to bear in mind this weekend perhapts.

But with a henchie group it never shows what is dropped for them.
I can see prices falling already.

Cantha bosses do drop green items very regularly but its not a guaranteed thing.
Prices of Cantha greens (and Tyrian as well) have tanked ofcourse, its a question of supply and demand and there's a LOT of supply which basically means that greens drop a lot.

I take five hencies with my assassin when I chest farm between Leviathan and Gyala's. (That's a great place, btw... always 4-6 chests). The other day I had Reefclaw's Refuge drop, I was giddy.
Of course, now Koss won't quit calling me to make sure I keep it for him. Is it rude to change your number and not tell your heroes?

You have to serve your newest product. |
Prophecies has been in stores for only a year... and its not comparable to a different operating system.
WinXP is to Win98 as Pong is to DiabloII, Guild Wars: Prophecies is still Guild Wars.
The games are connected and you can take the same characters to different areas(unlike your example where you cant use certain programs on 98), therefore they should BOTH get a benefit...
Mr Jazzy
wow. okay, just to clear all of this up...
Anet isn't patching prophecies because they are lazy or because they HATE prophecies, it's simply a business strategy. the only way Anet receives revenue is from people buying the game, not thru monthly fees.
by hosting events only in cantha, they are hoping that people would get sick of all the cantha bias, and finally realize that only cantha will get special things. at that point, they want you to buy factions.
it's a business device, not hate towards tyria or players

i don't understand why everyone complains about green drops, i farm greens very often as do my guildies and we get plenty of greens. just don't overfarm an area and don't go back to an area after you've done up to 10 runs. go away and farm elsewhere for a few days then come back. i'm sure most green farmers have avoided their fav green farm locations like the plague the last few days for the area to reset for them. and for those who are taking henchies, don't complain if you don't get any drops.
oh and if you don't like the lack of tyrian events then buy factions. how could anyone expect a company to continue support and developement of an old product? where do they draw the line? if there were to continue support for tyria then as new chapters come out they would need to increase staff just to maintain support. if you want a continual update for tyria then you'll have to pay a monthly fee. the $20-$40 people spend on GW is a bargain and asking for the moon and stars for that measly sum is just wishful thinking. anet is in this to make money NOT to break even! they are responsible to one and only one group...their share holders.
