How many times will I have to death level the charr to lvl20 and then kill them to reach the desired level at which I can start doing quests?
Anon-e-mouse
There is no hard/fast number of deaths required.. Basically if you have left the quests until the end, you need to death level until you get to lvl 19 and about 35% (ish).
Because there is no way to predict how your DL setups will go (ie, which Charr you will find when you go into the northlands), I can only suggest averages, and even these change depending on how you do your death leveling.
The lazy method (setup before going to sleep, harvesting the top group, going to work, harvest the rest upon return), will average you anywhere from 7-12% of your level. Doing the quicker method (setup, wait until lead group gets to your level -1, harvest, rinse & repeat), will average you about 3-7% of your level, but is quicker, but you have to be nearby to monitor the charr's progress.
Depending on when you start DL'ing (I started my current LDoA attempt at lvl 14), you can pretty much say about 8-12 sessions per level (less @ lower levels, more @ higher ones). My actual LDoA toon, ended up with about 175,000 deaths at the end (more now cos it's helping my 2nd LDoA toon), but then I'm doing the lazy method, so I will 'earn' more deaths.

im consedering on creating a warrior for ldoa title. Now if i was to create her, what do i need to do to get this title. I know little about this death leveling but what secound profession do i need to achieve this. Is it similar to reaching the curvivor title which you cannot die once or can u die in pre searing? Are there players in pre searing that help you power-level?

To get the title you just need to get to lvl 20 BEFORE you leave pre-searing. Read this thread from the start, and you'll get a darn good idea of what you need to do.
You don't NEED a 2nd profession, but ones that will help are Ranger or Monk for a Warrior. Ranger for the pet and Troll Unguent (both very useful), Monk for Bane signet, Banish, Healing Breeze, Orison of Healing, which you may (or may not) find useful.
You can die in pre-searing, and the ONLY way of getting the title is by dying, so you CAN'T go for Survivor on the same character.
There are some who can 'power level', but it only works upto a point. Once you get to lvl 14 you will no longer get XP from the charr and have to boss kill instead.

Anon,
Maybe you can help me with a few things. Last month I created a couple of pre chars (one gate monkey/mule and one LDOA) so my knowledge of pre has been stunted due to not being in pre since GW first came out. I have read in many places talking about how pre searing gold is worth more than post gold, is this strictly due to availability of gold in pre? (less gold drops so the gold that drops is "worth" more) I dont seem to remember my gold in pre magically doubling when I moved to post.
Dug through presearing.com and here and really could not find a definate answer.
Almost the same question on dyes from pre; do dyes from pre not mix/stack with dyes from post?
Do the charr bags change over to regular bags in post?
Thanks for any insight you can give me.

It is harder to attain a huge amount of wealth in presearing than in post. Because of this, people will buy gold in pre and pay with gold in post. Usually at a 1:2-2.5 ratio (pre : post)
Dye is the same throughout the game, there is no special "pre" dye. Its easier to farm dyes in pre though because there are less possible items to be dropped.
Charr Bags are a green item dropped from the charr bosses that already have 10 inventory spaces available. They will stay as charr bags when you sear your toon.

I just asked a couple of people (while killing spiders) in pre about the time it took them to get the title.
I have so far stuck to level 16 for just over 3 years but i have just deleted my warrior in favor of a necromancer to go to level 16 and possibly in the future (maybe ldoa) but 16 is enough for now

I have found that the E/R works perfect for farming the charr here. I got one right now actually mostly for new collector but still charr killing.

I need a bit of help.
I have a lvl 15 monk that i have decided to start death levelling on. This is because i dont want to grind for several hundred hours for lvl 15 to 16. However, i cant get a decent solo build that allows me to deal damage to kill mobs and survive. If anyone can help me make a solo build, that would be great. A few points that may help you:
*I have a fire imp summoning stone for killing the charr at the end of the run
*I have a minor divine favor rune on my armour
*I have a smiting magic staff (req 4) that sometimes halves casting time of healing prayers skills
*I have a longbow and a long sword
*I have ele secondary skills, but havent accepted the secondary prof yet
*Lvl 15 means I have 100 attribute points to spend (remember i have a minor divine favor rune)
If anyone can help me choose a decent set of 8 skills, and help me use my attribute points well, the help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

When you're death leveling, it will take multiple resurrections before you kill 1 charr. So if you have an ele secondary, put a decent amount of points into firestorm so you can spam flare. Put some points into healing or prot, for help with pulling the charr. Don't use skills like firestorm or symbol of wrath because they last after you are dead. If a charr dies when you are dead, you receive no xp. For this reason, don't use the imp while death leveling either. And if you get an attack off just before you die, and the charr gets killed from this, you may not get the xp from killing it.
It is still much faster to grind out the boss runs till 16

Shadowspawn X
It takes 81 boss runs to get from level 15 to level 16 a huge waste of time at the keyboard. There are way less actual play hours wasted to set up a dl before bed/work/school. The beauty of LDoA is you do it afk, not grinding away at the keyboard.
Burning Freebies
Wrong, it takes 80 runs from lvl 14-15. It is 300 boss runs for lvl 15-16. And thanks to everyone for the help, i have an answer to the question on another thread i asked the question on.
Burning Freebies
I thought quests accounted for all the remaining exp. I didnt realise it was 35% less than all of it.
killerbot3009
nice thread, i some how seem to think that lvl 13 in 2 days ment that i spend way too much time in pre searing lol

Knight of Ninestars
At lvl 15, every lvl 10 boss you kill gives 16xp. Since theres 4, you net 64 xp a run. But wait! Bosses give double the xp so that amounts to 128xp a run. Seeing as you need 10400 xp to reach lvl 16, this is about 81 boss runs. This should take about 5-10 hours of play time depending on how fast you can do a boss run. Or you can do a 3-4 group death level which will net you about 9-16%.
Shadowspawn X
You just spreading misinformation. You get 1.2% of your xp per boss run at level 15 towards level 20 which takes 81 runs to get to level 16. At 82,600 XP you have level 15 so you need exactly 10,400 XP to reach 93,000 XP for level 16. At level 15 killing a level 10 gives you 16XP multiply that by four and you get 64XP per run, you realize that bosses give a bonus of two times the XP so multiply the 64 x 2 and you get 128XP per boss run. That tells us that 10,400/128=81 runs. And to get from levels 14-15 its 42 runs do your own math for that one. I am a LDoA and believe me I won't give you wrong information.

Once you hit 19, you need between 2 and 3,000 more XP from DL'ing before you can start doing quests.

Quick question here... how do I Death Level? I know the basic concept, but I tried with moas outside the Abbey, and they just run away after they kill me, and when I rez they are out of aggro range of the shrine.

@lvl 15to 16 discussions above:
How come whenever i teamed with a lvl 15 during boss runs it took them 3 runs to add one percent (they kept pinging), and how come it took me 80 or so runs till i got from 14 to 15? (i tallied because i did some math) . I did get exp from every boss during these runs, and my percent rate only when up 1% after each run.
Another question-does death levelling take less time as you grow levels? It currently takes me 4 hours and 30 mins (not including setup time) to get 4 charr from 8->15 (im lvl 15) so will it speed up when i level up to lvl 16? (If i level them to my level)

geez thx...ive death leveled with charrs wich is extremly hard >.> not hard to get em to lvl 20 but when lvl 20 its very hard to kill the monk ( need mesmer for monk [Shamans]
Knight of Ninestars
As a pure War, 1 monk left for DL is manageable. Any more just isn't worth it.
You can pull groups away from the monk tho to make it easier

i have two questions...
first...i have a lvl 14 mes and still dont know how to spend my attributes (for example is fastcasting worth it? or illusion for [Conjure Phantasm]?
my current build...
[build prof=Me/?][Empathy][Shatter Delusions][Backfire][Conjure Phantasm][Ether Feast][Fire Storm][Aura of Restoration][Glyph of Lesser Energy][/build]
second...
killing bosses to get to lvl 16 sucks...wont it be less annoying to kill bosses until lvl 15 then doing the quests...and start deathleveling? (or sth like this)?

It is better to save quests for 19-75% to 20. If you don't then when you are lvl 19 and kill lvl 20s you will be getting far less exp then if you were killing at a lower level which means you would DLvl for a longer time.
Doing quests @ 19 saves time in short.

there is, but are you willing to add on another 100+hours w/o being afk?
here is what you do: instead of letting the moa death lvl off of you ''test'' the secondary ranger for skills to get charm animal, go charm an animal and make sure it is also lvl 16 when you try this. Instead of haveing the moa kill you get it to kill your animal, you cannot afk for this as you have to keep ressing the pet yourself. GL WITH THIS...i would recomend going for LDoA and survivor, but if you do i will bow in your honor |
Getting your pet killed does not work, it only gives experience the first time it dies. After it it rez'ed, it wont give any more experience.

How about use 2 accounts like so.
#1 to death level the charr at the shrine. #2 to kill the charr after #1 leave the map? |
Unless you used a tome to get a hard res(which have all been removed and chars with skills have been removed from pre) you BOTH have to die to be ressed at shrine.

To be honest Covah i know that already so i do not know why i suggested it in the first place
Must have been the drink talking.
Anyway, my first character is still in pre searing 53 or so months old i think and still at level 16
but alas i will be remaking it into a different (male necro) and starting my climb for LDoA tonight
I will try and keep everyone up to date with my slow but sure progress...

for your own sanity, use an alt account, level a character to 14+ and have him death level with you to make the process almost twice as fast.

Death level with 2 and then disconnect the spare one
Or move it out of range if possible, That was my plan when i get around to it...
