Anyone else bored?

@ Ernada and Ninna: this game always had the spirit of equality and balance since the start. It was for over a year and half like that but people had a greater gaming experience before the latest changes. Even the ones that rushed through content could keep themselves busy in between chapters. What you fail to understand is that a lot of that fun or options are taken away now or give less enjoyment.
It was fun to farm for rare golds or whatever which are no better than collector's or greens. It was a way to keep people busy, same for chestruns and whatnot.
And about the new ai, I already adjusted. Being a monk they target me all the time. I rush in first and just stay alive and my heroes are safe and will kill them in no time, target by target. It all depends on my skill. This works even in the hardest endgame places. Solo farming takes longer as most will run away and come back when they're healed up. The ai is more predictable than ever, not really an improvement imo. I'm the bait and they take it. But whatever, going for PKM now as the loot sux anyway.

i didnt read the entire 37 pages, tbh i only read the first post, but just to respond to that:
I have finished the game 3 times, (paragon, necro and warrior) im about 80% with my monk and elementalist, and about halfway with my dervish. You're right, it isnt as much fun as the first time, especially since i can almost talk all the cutscenes with the characters, i know nearly everything they are going to say... but its still fun! im just going to finish the game with my last 3 characters, and hopefully by then the elite mission(s) are ready! i cant wait for it . Untill then i'll just keep playing and perhaps a little green farming (got nearly 30 Chor's Axes, 30 other greens) so i'll be fine till then :P
by the way, i do not know if you own the other two chapters (prophecies and factions), but you might consider playing those chapters again, but this time with a dervish or paragon!

i was saving for my incorrigable alehound title (im at around 65% now) but ill never have enough money now the farming (or the easiest/best farming) is nerfed to bits i was also saving for FoW armor, but i can totally forget it... i loved farming or finding a different build to farm with . I really spent a lot of time in farming, and i got a lot back
there are still things we can enjoy ourselves with till the next chapters comes out (replaying old chapters, replaying nightfall, elite missions, pvp) but i really loved farming since i could buy things that made me "special"

The fact is, that a lot of the fun things people like to do in game. Cost money, which you can't make fast enough, to consider those fun things..fun anymore. So there is no reason to play this game.
What we are asking for is, for Anet to simply fix that and it will hurt no one and keep a lot of people who were bored, happy.
I'm still playing it, I have 10 PvE characters, and I'm working on getting them through NF slowly. I rushed my tank through it and well that was a good idea for the most part..it's always fun being first or at least 1 of the first.
Competition is what this game is about, but equal competition. To bad there is no such thing. There is always someone better, always someone who can beat you, that's not equal at all. Some person has 5 sets of FoW, another has 10. Some person has Koabd..another has PKM. Some person has r5 chest, another has the max tier. You can't win no matter what you want to do and that's what a lot of people strive to do, especially in PvP. The difference there is that, skill and or friends. If you have 5 friends who are good, you don't need to be usually, you can get carried along and get rank. I'm sure that's happened a lot in the past.
So this game is a Competitive game, with equality only in the skills/character and weapons to some extent. Nothing else.
Anyways I"m around 5000 hours of game time, I'm not bored yet. If I am I go sit in Grotto or play a different game and come back just fine. Yet I don't like reptitiveness so, after a while this game will become that. I don't want to stop it, I want Anet to do the little they have to, to make it great for a long while again. It's totally possible and it will not hurt any of you guys who are siding with them.

How can you assume someone with 5 sets of FoW is worse than someone with 10?
??Ripskin
I want my trollsies back!!!
(Sucks thumb in the corner of my mind)
This thread hits me hard...
Just makes me think how bad the next thing is gonna get nerfed... then the next.. Just wondering where anerf is going after the SECOND AoE nerf...

Regardless this is kind of off topic and has nothing to do with being bored as competitive equality will always be there.

That sounds alot like real life. Always someone better, someone always has more something than you... If you have friends who are good(at a job for example), they can carry you(till youre better). Youll have to just deal with it, preferably in a constructive manner, as you seem to be doing now.
You have to consider that "One mans pleasure is anothers poison".

And about auction house, I've heard a million times that would come. But I think that is rumours. Anyway, what Anet should do, is to make something like the system FlyFF (Fly for Fun) has. I've seen my friend play it, and its really awesome: You set up a small shop, with 24 slots. You fill them with the items you want to sell, and set the price on them. When a buyer come to your shop, he can only buy with the price you made yourself. It's a chat there so people can leave a comment too. After you have written the shop text, you can go afk while people are coming to your shop to buy. A text will appear over your head.
I don't mean that Anet should copy Flyff, but something like this should be made, but also keeping the old trade.
Signed?

Holy crap thats an awsome idea, I could see that working in GW for sure. They need to make an auction house followed buy custom merchants for selling your stuff. That would be great. Although might get hard with constant nerfs, people wont have anything to sell

Not much. Atleast 90% less than GW.. ><

Hmmm why do people say we rush through the game? I play about 3 hours per day, and now I completed nightfall with 3 characters, and with 2 of them I did every quest I could find.
Why do I beat the game so fast? Cause there's NOTHING else to do except questing/missioning.
In Prophecies/Factions, I used to chest run, farm a bit, buy some stuff, explore, work on titles, and then a quest/mission. There was alot to do and there wasn't a single moment i was bored.
Now, every second I'm playing Guild Wars I'm doing a quest or a mission. The number of Quests and missions in the game is limited, and with heroes that pwn everything, it's not a problem to do them.
Besides, what was the friggin problem with farming in the first place? It wouldn't hurt anyone if it was possible again. Heck stuff would even become cheaper again, and people wouldn't be as bored. Also, the game would seem longer cause there's SOOOOO much more stuff to do (chest run/working on titles/farming in Elona)

-Sure there are chests in Nightfall, but I don;t have gold to buy keys
-Farming is impossible, greens are nearly worth nothing nowadays and farming with Wurms or Djinns just isnt worth it.
-Buying stuff is impossible cause I have no gold
-exploring is rather boring now cause of the sucky AI
-Most titles are gold-based, so I cant get them. As for the non-gold based - I already have these.
I'm playing missions/quests cause there's nothing else to do. Sure, I can farm greens/Djinns for a 'smashing' 5K per hour, but that just isnt worth it.
So don't say farming is possible unless you actually farmed stuff like Trolls/Shiro'Ken/Snake Dance cause that stuff is actually worth it.
Before nightfall came out, I farmed about 30K a day, and spent 25K on stuff like titles, chests, titles, skills etc.
Now I get about 1K a day, and I spend 2K a day. I'm losing money.

So what you're really saying is, you haven't adjusted to the changes yet?
I'm really inclined not to believe you're only making 1k a day, unless you're not really trying. I easily make more than that per casual walkabout with a group of heroes/henchies. And an hour or 2 of Exuro farming costs me nothing and lands me anywhere between 15k and 100k, depending on his generosity. The rare scrolls he drops alone add up quite nicely. There's other easy greens but I prefer Exuro since I get LB points for it as well. Great huh? Making gold and working on a title at the same time. You gotta love Nightfall.

Except that I already have the best Lightbringer Title... And when farming trolls, I always killed the boss, and 3 rare scrolls dropped for me in total - of over a 500 runs. Besides rare scrolls are only worth 400 gold? And Greens rarely drop. And I don't have the time to sell a green with the sucky marketing system in GW.
I can't even remember when I last sold an item to a real player with succes.
Back when farming was still possible, I made 800 gold per run (which cost me about 2 minutes). Or when I had time, 50K worth of Materials when I farmed Snake Dance (2 superior salvage kits completely used, got about 500 iron in the end).
That doesn't compare with:
1: farming for 1 single item (takes a long time, since i am VERY unlucky when it comes to drops)
2: Actually selling it for a reasonable price (takes a long time as well)
Besides, it's only a matter of time before the green weapons in NF start dropping in price. Farming greens is just impossible to do for me - since I only have 3 hours per day.

Ok, I can't argue when you're saying farming has become much slower, but that doesn't mean all the other things you mentioned a few posts ago don't exist at all. That was my point.
Farming greens is somewhat boring and subject to the luck of the draw, but I'm usually chatting away over guildchat while I do it and that makes it bearable. I'm usually doing pretty well when it comes to green drops and I can sell them in a minute because I sell them a few k under the rate of the day.
I do that because I HATE the trading system with a passion and the less time spent with it the better. So we do agree on some things.

Well, the things I mentioned before aren't impossible, but they can;t be done unless you're rich (Unless you spend ALL your cash on keys/skills/whatever).
I was also chatting with Guild Mates when farming (we were bragging about our loot all the time, and checked who got the most profit everyday :P) (darn my rival won - he got FoW armor 2 days before the update came, I only had 100K (20K now)
Anyway, I'm not so good with green prices, so selling them is too troublesome. I once used the Junundu farm build to farm Deatheater Longbows, Guru said they were worth around 30K, so I sold for 20K... After 2 hours still no buyer, and after 2 days I tried to sell for 5K and still nobody would buy.
Now my Assassin is full of greens which i can't sell (nobody in the Guild wants them for free, either)
EDIT: btw, my 'luck of the draw' is really worthless, so that's why the only way for me to make money was 'raw farming', without a certain item to find, cause I'd never find that item, anyway. with 'raw farming' I mean just selling the loot and get the gold, which I did with trolls etc. That kind of farming is now impossible, and green farming just isn't my thing cause I don;t have the luck for alot of greens, and not the time to sell them.
BoredJoe
I only farm greens that I'd use myself or which I know go with popular builds on other classes. Hajkor's Flame, the 20/20 fire wand is reasonably easy to sell unsurprisingly.
Lawnmower
That's the problem with these kind of threads. You probably already know of what this smells like. "Another freaking complaining childish retard who starts screaming doomsday prophecies as soon as his favorite class or spell gets nerfed".
Why, do people do this on fanforums, where fans are supposed to rally together? It's freaking hard for me to do this. To really try and get out here and speak my opinion without offending anyone. It seems impossible. That no matter how I say it, I will get flamed or knocked over. I'm fully aware that this is my opinion, I'm aware that it won't have an impact or change anything, but I still feel like that I need to get it off my chest, even though if no one agrees with me.
This is a personal open letter to ArenaNet. I don't expect them to care, read it. I don't expect anyone to have the same opinion or agree with me. I don't expect anyone to say /signed or whatever. I know we are all different, and that we have different perspectives of fun, and different perspectives on how we want to see this game moving forward.
Dear ArenaNet. It's been 3 great campaigns for me. It really has. But I can't take it anymore. I have played my main character for about 300 hours over the past 16 months. In that time I have taken him through countless of areas and monsters. But I can't take this anymore.
I cannot take another lvl 1-20 campaign. I want too, but I just can't take it anymore. I just don't feel like it. I just don't want to go through it again. I feel like that I have my bases covered.
I think it's time that you started doing some serious evolutionary ideas with this game. I think it's time that you started changing some things with this game.
I know that balance is crucial for many people who play this game. It has been the main reason to why all requests of further character progression has been denied. "It would ruin the balance", "the game is about skill".
Jeff Strain once said in an interview that the reason for Guild Wars great balance act, was because of James Phinny. The same guy who balanced the races in the legendary RTS game, Starcraft. If that's true then I think it's possible for this man to keep the balance while changing the game.
Call it level cap, call it alternative progression. Call it or do what you want.
I know that people already are going to scream at me. Going to tell me to go play another grinding game or something. That couldn't be further from the truth.
I just don't think it's interesting to get a few new armors and weapons and new skills after new campaign. I really want to take my character further. TO the next level. To the next phase.
I acknowledge that doing big changes might destroy the game into chaos and kill it. However, I also believe that if you don't try to innovative or take risks, then you have already failed. I also think the key to keep a game fun, is to change it. To surprise. Too take new changes. I already know that this will never happen. Humans are creatures of habit, and people hate change. That's why this thread is doomed to die before it has even begun.
I really don't know where I would like to see GW move from here. I just know that It's not interesting to me anymore, to just play the next campaign. I honestly felt that, while Nightfall was really good, that it was more of the same and it was. Campaign 4 is probably also aswell. I don't talk about little changes like adding mounts or some useless gimmicks. But actually taking the game further.
Im a big fan of this game. I don't think I will ever play another online RPG after this. I really don't. I don't see the appeal in any of these other games. I think this game does allot of things right, but I also think that the game is being hold back by the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality. I think Anet is afraid of changing the game because of the outcry from community. And of course. Why not. Why shouldn't they be. Seems like it is the community who hates this game, more than anyone else.
I have had a ton of fun. I don't regret anything. I love every second of all my time with these 3 games. I will continue to play my three games, for a while.
But the next time, the 50 bucks are supposed to go down, I don't think I will be there. I really don't. And no one will care. I know. I'm not asking anyone too. I just don't want more of the same, because I got more than plenty right here.
And I am willing to risk this game, to try and make it better. Thats why I support big changes.
But long story short; I just don't need more campaigns. I don't need more skills. I really don't. I don't need more 1-20 storylines.
I wish I could do something really big and new. Not something small like a hero system or alliance battle. But really take it further.
Im going to get slaughtered for this. Who do I think I am? To come in here and write my opinion like anyone is going to care. Absolute madness. To come in here - A place where fans meet. How can it be considered anything other than a troll post? Or some wacky emo loser who has waited too long for a stupid hair dresser NPC or auction house.
I don't know mates. Another possibility is that im simply just not into this game anymore. 150 bucks gave me 300 hours worth of entertainment. I can't say that it has been a bad deal. But on the other hand I don't want it to end.
I really feel like that my character has become part of me. It's funny. I take him to different continents and equip him with exotic foreign stuff. It's been great. Why don't I want more of the same, if I think the three first games where fun? Why can't I just settle for more of the same? Why suddenly the urge to risk everything to get something new or expansive that will change the game.
As a fan it annoys me. It annoys me how the trend of GW has changed. The first game was very popular. It sold well. Got rave reviews. Allot of attention in the media. Factions sold pretty well. Was at the top of the charts for a month or so. Got decently reviews(around 8 most places). Got some attention in the media. Nightfall - Got dissapointing reviews despite claims of being better than Factions. Got very little attention in the media. Few reviews. It's like no one even cares about the game anymore.
Thats how it feels to me. Thats how it looks like to me. It looks like to me that this great player, becomes mediocre as he plays it safe, and while playing it safe, and not taking any changes, losses the edge, fanbase and will to lead and dominate. And again - That's only how I see it. I want this game to have sold 8 million copies and be the dominate online leader. But it ain't.
hurray for retarded for finding that out.
*hides in a cave to never come out*
Why, do people do this on fanforums, where fans are supposed to rally together?

That was interesting to read.. and my opinion is that you should find another game, or another hobby, probably another hobby, one which doesn't involve computer games
Personally, I enjoy gw the way it is, if it gets too boring, I'll swap character or go do something else until I'm interested in it again.

I think Anet is acknowledging the level/item cap as becomming a problem themselves. Slowly but surely. Finding new content for each chapter not easy.
At the other hand: playing for so long, any game would become boring. I skipped Factions and I'm amazed how much fun heroes add. The game feels like reborn to me, despite of the level caps (and those who read my posts longer know that I would like higher level chr's and better gear ).
So maybe taking a break would help. To find chapter 5 has new features you really want

I personally hope ANet can come up with some ideas to make gaining XP after lvl 20 worthwhile. Most of the time there is a quest that gives a small amount of gold and about 2000 XP. Now, my character has 43 skill points thats not been used... why would he/she grind through the quest just for a small amount of XP?
Now, if you trying to get survivor title suddenly all quests become vital and worthwhile... with my on going survivor character i try to do any quest i can find for the extra amount of XP.

You mean that each time that Gaile said that they are not Raising the lvl cap because it is what the Entire Game is based off / Balanced around, Where only banter and lies?
Dalimoor_Kalkire
While you're certainly entitled to your opinion, that much drama should not arise from a computer game. Get a grip, take a break...
The Ernada
Yeah seriously, please dont make up crap. Anet has never "acknowledged" the level cap as becoming a problem. That's YOUR perception not theirs.

@ Pandora: The level cap at 20 is a nice thought out system. Why? Because you get a lot of content for that level, I think about 60% of the game which in a way is endgame content to say it easy. The other 40% is for levels 1 to 19.
It's one of the strong points of this game and I think they will never change that.
Let's say you can get to level 40 tomorrow for example, uw and fow and almost the whole game and all chapters would become too easy to return too.
@Lawn: I enjoyed your post and I understand where you're coming from. Increasing the level cap is not the best solution imo though.

Lawn, you coulda just quoted what I wrote I believe on the page before this..but I think you pretty much hit the nail in the coffin, without the preciseness I had . Seriously though, I think I support this viewpoint you have, but talking to some people on this forum and trying to argue with them is like participating in the special olympics...no matter who wins..in the end we still realize we're retarded.
Whatever, NF was the most recent chapter I bought, and will be my last.
I don't know if you get this, but it is more, at least for me, the time spent on this game, which is 800+ hours. If time isn't important to you..then really I am kinda speechless

800 hours or so TOTAL over 15 months, 170 or so on my main. I have 6 characters. I don't think I've done anything to be repetitive or specifically boring.

if you were to play a different game, say something from the Madden line, do you get joy from having that completed franchise on your memory card, or from the time you spent managing your team and playing the game?
if its the latter, its best if you find something other than video games to consume your time. time gaming is never wasted, as long as you had fun.

I quit GW yesterday because of all the issues and I have to say, it is more than a game. I met some of the best friends I will ever have while playing this game. There are people who met their life partners while playing as well. The guild I was in did everything from winning halls, being in the top 50 on the ladder, and everything imaginable on the PvE side. When real people are involved it's more than just a game. The changes that came with NF have caused myself and many of the friends that I made stop playing and that's not cool. I guess it had to end at some point, but not because someone is affraid to admit they screwed up. Thanks ANet.

^^while heros are great they did kill a big part of gw, the community
