Idea: PVE Island available to ALL chapters

Concept: A centralized place where PVE players meet, regardless of what chapters they own.

Implementation: An island chain, similar to Battle Isles. Available for all chapters and reachable only via ship. It exists in its own map, just like the Battle Isles. It would be comprised of a central town and several outposts with small explorable areas in between.

Function:
  • A place where players can rally and talk to other players, regardless of chapters.
  • A centralized marketplace (auction house)
  • A centralized Holiday Event location
  • A centralized place where Anet employees can chat with the gamers.
  • A centralized place to recruit or join guilds
  • Just a place to hang out and go AFK ;D.
  • Possible place to get special unique quests
  • Roleplaying Outpost
ADDED:
  • A centralized place to enter FoW/UW (added by dgb)
  • A centralized place to craft CORE armors/weapons (added by Winterclaw) and get core skills

Details

The outposts would have small limits on the numbers per district. This way, it doesnt get "crowded". The central town will have large limits.

Perhaps these places could be more "watched" for bad behaviour, since social places can attract some rude people.

the outposts meant for social interaction will have the Trade tab greyed out and have more strict selling filters

Access
The main Hub city will be accessible to EVERYONE from Lion's Arch, Kaineng or Kamadan via quests. Because of this, I expect that the city will turn into spambot central.

This is why the following idea came about: SOME outposts will only be accessible if you have at least 1 Protector title/Grandmaster Cartographer/ or Rank 3. Because this is the PVE social hangout, and I dont want bots and people who get ran everywhere to be able to acccess it easily.

Sounds kinda like PocketD in CoH/CoV. It's a dance club in an alternate dimension where heroes and villains can hang out and there's no fighting. There's also special missions during holiday events.

It'd also be nice if there were bosses who have core elites you can capture there.

Maybe it could have repeatable quests so people can get skill points and money to buy skills.

Canthan style level 20 armor crafters (who have all non ascended skins) would be nice too. As would a weapon crafter for non-rare skin types (katana, longsword, machete, scimitar, brute sword, etc).

Perhaps it can have (solo) farming areas for all classes and a GW casino (for lucky title) where you can get neat items for prizes. The casino could also have a "monster" arena where for a price you can get to fight random mobs by yourself and if you win, you can make a little money back.

This would be rather nice to keep all the holiday events in a central place, less big hassles for the devs. Armourer and Weapon crafter could work but not really needed since you already have enough of those in the chapters.

An auction isle where all the sellers and buyers can go hang out would be really nice! NOt sitting in Kaineng and trying to read through 100s of WTS/WTB would be nice indeed

new idea, about the lesser ppl in major towns ...... maybe in this new pve island there's no traders no nothing, just some funny things, so ppl still need to go to major towns to get materials, armors and stuff.

Yeah. One thing that annoys me is how going to FoW/UW is now divided between 3 temples. They are core areas, you should be able to form parties with everyone in one place.

Instead what I saw when Factions came out was ToA still being the main place to go, but quite a few formed parties in Zin Ku or whatever it's called. I wanted to play with rits, but they were all in Cantha and didn't want to make the journey from LA to ToA. Factions had been out for months before I finally saw a rit in ToA and formed a group with him, and shortly afterwards they nerfed rit lords.

And it's not so fair on owners of Factions/Nightfall but not Prophecies, as ToA is still THE place to form parties for FoW/UW.

Well heres how i see it:

If players leave major towns and go to ONE place, then it will be easier to find parties:

Imagine if you cant find anyone to go to do THK with, go to the central town, and go "Anyone wanna join me with THK?" and you instantly are speaking to A LOT more people, some people may have THK on the back of their minds.

Instead of scattering all the players and dispersing them thinly all over the place, a central location to meet and greet and chat and sell is much better, imo.

In essence,i think we NEED something like this as Guild Wars gets bigger and bigger and bigger.

No-one is gonna move to this place until an auction house system is up and running there (and ONLY there), so I'd make that a priority. They'd also need to ditch the FoW/UW entrances from the campaigns if you really want everyone to meet in one place. I think there's enough room on the battle isles that a new area or two could be made there, one for auction and the other for realms of the gods. (which is already interconnected with HA anyway, so why not put it near there.)

If there is a core entrance to fow/uw, then it has to be unlocked in some way, maybe through a mission. No need to make chinese farmers live's easier.

The various Zaishen arenas and PvP areas have to be unlocked via pvping, so i guess something similar can be used to make these areas locked like....some towns can only be accessed if you have at least 1 protector title or 1 grandmaster cartographer title.

i was actually thinking of this earlier (not in so much depth but i touched on the idea nonetheless)

i like the idea as the GW population is being spread thinner and thinner as time goes by and a central place that everyone could go would be nice. When i was thinking of the idea i thought that people should be able to get a taste of what the other chapters are like somehow, as this might increase revenue for a.net and make them seriously consider something like this because frankly atm i dont see something like this being implemented until chapter 4 or 5 if it was just to have.

As for auction houses.. seriously i dont think its gonna happen we havent even seen anything that might lead to it, at least a central trading place would be a step in the right direction, personally id like some storage upgrades (stackable inscriptions ftw) over an auction house atm
