Idea: PVE Island available to ALL chapters

I'm still against the title req... i hate titles... i can't seem to find time to earn them... and it's the only downside to NF as far as i'm concerned. I just hate grind, and killing random things for sunspear points got really old, really fast. And I shouldn't have to run around a whole map, getting that last .000001% I need to access this area.

One small question then?
Would there be an exploration title for this island, and a protector title is there are quests and possible missions?
If there arent any missions, I would suggest having an RPG side to it and making people earn the right to use the island for trading and hanging out.
Make them work through a few missions and quests to unlock certain areas.
To just give it to them seems too easy, especially if it holds armor and weapons.
Or only allow access to certain areas if you have completed certain campaigns.

So just give 100% access to everything when you start a new campaign.

**there is currently a bug affecting the Hero Shall Lead Quest- and it works under the same principal as the Consulate Ferry some spots in Cantha.
For Elonians, yes, flame on haters, there isnt a big need for this = we've all enjoyed our time on the starter island with our new characters, and obviously have quite a lot of sunspear points...
but for those of us bringing over our old Monks, Mesmers, Ele's, Necros, Tanks, Sins, Rits, (Do you get my point yet??)
**Join a party with someone who has accumulated the 2500 points, and go with them when they talk to Dunkoro to activate the last phase of the quest. As you go into Sunward Marches, the NPCs will be set for the quest (Kournans at the first Rez Shrine is the visual confirmation) and as long as the person who just got rank 7 talks to the NPC outside Verta Cemetary your party will be transported in the town, with the Cinematic.
**After watching the cinematic, you are able to talk to the Mission Starter NPC in town who then gives you the reward for the Hero Shall Lead quest, no matter what your Rank is.
**My lowest sunspear rank non-elonian is rank 3, with no need to ever farm sunspear again new quests notwithstanding.
Like many others I have already 'done' my time for these sunspear jokers quite a few times over, and my relief/joy when I accidentally stumble across this with my necro was, as you can be sure, very rewarding in itself. All I was doing was being a nice guy and helping some kid out thinkin Id farm like up to rank 5... I almost declined the invitation - LOL

That is what the Temple of Balthazar is last I checked. If you want to AFK in a town, go hang out in a cool one.
Some of the ideas werent horrible, but I think it would be a waste of ANet's time and I would be happier knowing they were working on cool content, not some wierd little magic town.
Ironically - If they DO implement an area like this, I think FreakedOutFish has the right kind of ideas for it.

With every expansion, the population gets seperated and the only common area is Battle Isle. Battle Isle/Temple of Balthazar is inherently an PVP area and carries a stigma as well as players with a bad attitude with it.
I have all 3 chapters. So it doesnt affect me much when theres holiday stuff only in chapter 2, or only in chapter 3 or whatever. But other players are not so lucky. A central town for holiday events and such would be more than a welcome addition, imo.

Personally, I was convinced that A.net would be doing something like this ever since Factions came out. It would have been retarded to have to port from the old temple of the pimeval kings to a Factions version and back again simply to find a group. Especially since to do this you must pass through LA and Kaineng which are both uber lag fests.
Having to do this to get a group for one of the god areas is just as retarded. However, the most retarded things is trying to sell or buy something. Yuu have LA, Droknar's, Kaineng, Kamadan and Kodash Bazzar. Not to mention that to get to some of these locations you Must pass through the choke-towns which are always packed.
This is the important and core part of the game that has been overlooked and needs to be addressed: main trade hub and main god area hub. Obviously, everybody would like to see something or another appear into the game, however, this thread has long degenrated into talks about why you should or should not need this or that title to enter some or another area, all of which might be related to purple unicorns with gills and an afinity for chewing tabacco.
As for the hollydays thing, use you common sense people. They are being used as a marketing tool, and as such they wil never become free for all.

Remember that any new content would have to be "doable" by the good, hard-working folks at Anet.
As far as the titles are concerned, just getting to the docks which allow access to other continents should be enough of a qualification to reach the PvE island/continent and do the things that are there. Before then, there is little need to use the services offered usually.
On the part of what the island/continent could contain:
Peacful trading port - your auction house - of course this would depopulate the other large trade towns, but then again it is depopulating them of the selling/buying spammers leaving behind those interested in questing there
Centralized party searching hub/community center - with the Trade ability disabled spamming sellers would be nearly worthless - meanwhile a bulletin board style system (as an expample and probably not the best way) could organize the party hunt by continent/city
Grand Temple of the Gods - universal access to UW and FOW people so greatly desire
Beyond these areas, the other suggestions would seem to take too much change to be made quickly and properly. They also wouldn't add a particularly large ammount of new stuff that could be done by the players.
One option I did like was that each new land, as well as Tyria, Elona and Cantha, gets a "Commerce and Political Outpost" on this peacful commercial island/continent. Players from each of these regions can see a glimpse of the others. This is similar to how some other posts mentioned a city spiraling outwards with new expansions. Creating the first few would be a bit of a pain but new ones would be a normal part of developing the new Campaigns, and it only takes as much effort as any other city that already gets put into the games.
Some of these ideas favor a continent over a smaller island, but not all of that continent would neccessarily have to be covered in stuff to do, or even any terrain, at least not yet.
Allowing the island/continent to be Peacful would prevent the need for much background and storyline. This also prevents the need for the outside areas. Being instanced, they do little for community togetherness anyhow. A plot could be added if the developers wanted, such as through a new elite mission or two that are open to everybody. Here's hoping for having to save the Xunlai Grand Vaults.
The main thing that must be prevented is making these new areas as useless as the Great Temple of Balthazar seems to be to me, personally. There is practically nothing to do there that isn't available in the regular towns/pvp areas.
Among other things that can prevent this, having regular events, whether or not the grand holiday get-togethers are included, in the area. This, even if temporarily, would get players to come to these areas in large numbers.

I liked the Zoo idea I read a few pages back. But it should be like a rune trader. You pay a fee and get a chance to tame a certain animal. The animals would be limited to whatever people sold to the tamer.
I wish there was a dance club outpost with unique dance commands. I swear by Grenth that I will have my /dothehustle and /macarena commands!!!

B: since a place like this would OBVIOUSLY be more populated, how do you control lag?
C: how do you manage districts, because of the over-population, will come the displacement of current trade-hubs to these areas, forming more districts...this could be a problem with foreign text driving people out.
D: what monster-lvl environment is it?
E: if its made, the place is made, it should definetly have FoW access...bringing people together of all chapters.

For extra goodness, give the place the textures and look of pre-searing Ascalon (I'm not saying take pre-searing and put it there, but that the soft, autumnal look of much of pre-searing was part of what makes it so beloved IMO). There are one or two guild maps that have this look, and I very much like them, too.

Have an area with a "donation box". This would be a gold sink and for every X gold donated by the community, Anet would make changes to the town/area. Maybe it could be like a "vote". There would be different options to "vote" for. The first option to receive a certain amount of money would be the option implemented into the town. It could be a new statue, new landscape, new skyline, new town architecture, ANYTHING!

I think this idea is too amorphous so I don't support it. There are several different suggestions here as to how such a central place would be used, and I don't think they should all belong together.
1. A place for people from different games to meet. No problem with that. We have a PvP island so why not a PvE island too.
2. A centralised marketplace. Not with the current methods of trading thank you. That would be hell. The major towns are full enough with spam already. Trading needs a major overhaul itself, and only after that should a centralised idea be reconsidered.
3. Central holiday event place. Then there would be fewer reasons for people to buy all campaigns, and it would be less varied, so again no.
4. A centralised place for ANet to meet players. Int districts when Gaile appears fill up very quickly with people who want to shout about their own mini pets and storage problems. Having a place reserved for this would only mean you couldn't get in unless you stayed there all the time, which doesn't encourage mixing and meeting. I suspect ANet employees would rather meet players who are in a place to play, rather than lurking there ready to harrass them.
5. A centralised place to join guilds. Do you think this would stop recruitment spam in other places? Recruiting, like trading and mission party making, needs an overhaul too. How anyone could intelligently choose a guild based on a centralised shouting place is beyond me.
6. A place to hang out or roleplay. Yes, I would like that. Role players would like that too. Preferably a place with no traders, recruiters, and where you didn't start quests from.
7. A place to go afk. I hate meeting characters who are afk. If you don't want to miss guild chat go to your own guild hall to do that.
