I agree totatlly with the whole balth faction thing. However there needs to be a perminant sink for balth faction. Some thing thats usable only once. IF we simply make new unlackables we'll unlock them and then be on about how to use faction again. I say that we introduce things like firewater and wahtnot that can be used in PvP.
Things like one time use dye,one time use armor and things like that should be avaiable for faction sinks. The ability to donate faction into a title would be excellent.

I didn't read most of this thread but i like the idea.
If it hasn't been mentioned before i think balt faction should be used to unlock EXTRA MASKS (LIKE HOLIDAY HEADGEAR)
Im talking like a npc whom you transfer faction to , and once you give him enough say...
500k, 1kk,2kk,5kk
he will unlock a special mask for your account which can be reproduced across the characters via the festival hat npc.
some ideas:
Baltazar helmet, grenth hood, pope hat (for kicks), sombrero, baseball cap, and things of this variety.
Also, account wide minipets perhaps aswell, that way your efforts can reward in PvE for duality players.
Again, this would have to be a faction transfer to a certain npc, at high end amounts of 1-10 million
Note that, in my vision(the previous mentioned segment):
The reward npc does not give you the mask/pet based on the faction earned on the account, but rather the amount you have TRANSFERRED to him. Ideally, it would work much like the kurzick/luxon faction transfer, as well as save us from elitist pigs whom already have 10kk+ faction, and spam HA saying, NEED PLAYERS WITH GOOD EXPERIENCE, MUST SHOW BALTAZAR HAT. (or soemthing along those lines)
Forgive my spelling, its late.

Well, I'm not much of a PvPer, but I have a couple ideas.
With the opening of the Zaishen Arenas and the explorable PVP continent, I thought A-net was on the right track. However, the Zaishen Arenas aren't used much (the Zaishen Elite is almost always empty when I play). Also, from what I've read, we need something to spend faction on. The casual player won't have everything unlocked, but maybe something to appeal to the people that live and breathe Guild Wars?
I agree a couple new emotes would be cool...but they would just be spammed in the Great Temple of Balthazar. Not really much of a positive there.
Armor: I agree on getting the 15k sets (at a huge cost), but Fissure and other types of extremely rare armor should stick to PvE. It'll give people something to spend their faction on. I don't care if it's the same thing as what you can craft by yourself, it'll get others to stop whining for a little bit
A new PVP Arena: If somebody mentioned this, sorry. There should be some trader that distributes a key item..."Piece of Forgotten Map" or whatever...I just made that up off the top of my head. Each piece could cost 10,000 Balthazar faction to unlock, but you need one hundred of them to talk to another NPC who will assemble the map and transport you to a new PVP arena. In this PVP arena, you can be sure people here WANT to play and have great builds, because they worked so hard to get all of the faction. It's like an elite Random Arena. The arena could be called "Balthazar's Chosen" or something. It'll have similar objectives to random arenas, except with a lot more enviroment effects that can make-or-break a team. Only a true team can overcome both the enviroments AND another team. For example, the arenas will be larger to accomodate for the enviroment effects (go by something, and it triggers a trap that could daze and blind everybody...no matter friend or foe), and there could be everlasting effects (-1 energy regeneration, enchantments last 25% shorter, all healing reduced by 10%, etc.) There could be a special prize after your 10th straight victory...like a chance to fight something colossal that will give everybody a huge faction reward if defeated. It'll have a difficulty similar to Glint though...but if you can go 10 rounds in such a hellish arena, you have a chance. It could be something similar to Abbadon, or something utterly different. I understand you'll only have 4 people to fight it...but a good team can defeat this beast/spirit/whatever.
Once you get to Balthazar's Chosen, you can work for a new emote of Balthazar or a title or something. Also, you could work for the exclusive PVP armor...which makes getting the map pieces seem fast and easy.
There...something truly rewarding that will satisfy PVPers for probably months or a year to come.

Ive seen ideas like this before, and /notsigned. But here I will /sign.
The fact is that due to the new faction cap being improvable with hero and glad ranks, really any PvPer that can get obsidian would have done just as much work as a Pve'r. I like the idea of making it cost so much faction that you have to have raised your cap, that makes it so there will still only be so many people running around with it. The old problem where 15k/obsidian/ect would be cheapafied is somewhat fixed.

This will be the death of PvE. Why Play against each other with a PvE character if the PvP has it all? I think PvP is about performance, not glamor. I Do like the alliance decorations, fireworks, etc. and even the gold item Idea, But PvP should no get everything a PvE gets, why get the full game then? Save the PvE.

Didn't read it all but i agree with the idea overall.
I don't even see anything wrong with getting things like Obsidian Armor through Balth's Faction, as long as it's actually similar investment. For instance, say you make Obsidian Armor 50k Balt's Faction a piece. Most people don't even have that cap. To just reach that cap, you need to have a couple of titles earned first. Then you need 250k balt's faction for the full set, which is quite a lot. And that'd unlock 1 Obsidian Armor set for 1 class, if you want all sets then it's a damn lot of Balth's Faction. Only hardcore PvPers would have any chance to get it, just like only hardcore PvErs can get it. Don't tell me casual PvErs have any hope of getting an Obsidian set.
But they could also make a new high-end PvP armor that'd be the equivalent of Obsidian Armor but keeping them separate (one being the high-end PvE and the other high-end PvP, both exclusive), which would likely be even better.
But ya, i agree that some Balt's Faction sink would be interesting. Being UAX takes some fun away from PvP as you have nothing left to unlock (still some titles, but meh). I'm not playing PvP for titles or to unlock, but it still adds a little something to the game and it doesn't seem like it'd be hard to implement at all.

havent really read this thread, but someone suggested once before of maybe bringing back bathazaar flames (1k faction in a bottle)
pvpers dont get much money as it is, so being able to transfer your current unused faction into a balthazaar flame to sell or even to give to someone for a skill unlock could be quite nice.
maybe 3k balth faction can be converted into 1 balth flame.

The only things that PvP players get that PvE players don't are the /rank emote, and their own titles. PvE players of course have many more titles to choose from.
Honestly, give PvP players something to spend that faction on; as long as they require a high enough cap, the player has put in a comparable amount of effort as a pve player getting a nice skin/armor.

Sure PvE has more titles, but the amount of titles possible doesn't make a difference. They're still just titles, none come with emotes. Still not seeing Why PvP deserves to unlock skins when PvE can't earn an emote.

Apparently Anet is adding in some item exchange thingy for tournament points, from GvG and HB (HB with a ladder??? Ugh), and to enter those tournaments you need 5k faction per entry item (5x5 for GvG, 5 for HB). So there will be an extra faction sink regardless of whether they use tournament points or balthazars faction.
However this limits those getting those shiny items to people who play GvG or HB (again HB, ugh) and requires them to be on for the tournament times. I'd prefer using balthazars faction for unlocks as it wouldn't require an extra faction implemented and wouldn't discriminate versus people who don't GvG or HB (TA and HA are definately 'higher' levels of PvP than HB, RA and AB are probably about the same).

PvE and PvP have very different values to weapons and armor and what they stand for.
PvE higher tier armors and end game armors/Rare skinned weapons suggest a player has experiance in that field, they are respected due to thier equipment and what it stands for - an experianced, skilled PvE player.
PvP however derives respect and awe from other players in a different way, the pure skill of a player on the field, someone who is skilled gets noteworthy by many means (Glad points, Fame, Observer mode, guild rankings, hero ranking etc) that is turned into Emotes and Titles that are selectively for those who have achieved alot in PVP.
the joy of PvE comes from conquering the enviroment and the games AI and the thrill of PvP is beating your fellow players in combat where actions speak more then a set of End game armor

There is no need to be jealous. Giving PvP unlocks will not harm PvE in anyway, therefore that argument is simply jealousi.

/halfsigned for armour unlocks. I like the idea of being able to unlock new armour with faction but unlocking 15k pve armour sounds like a bad idea. I prefer the idea of having exculsive pvp armour and maybe weapon unlocks so people when playing pvp with you know that you a real pvp player and not mistake your character as a pve character
Also maybe a title for the total amount of faction you have earn. When you hit 1 million Balthazar faction you could get the title of Balthazar's Favoured however by doing this this will be unfair to the many players that have UAX and have not gain any faction. However a change could be developed so that you could still accumilate total faction even though you bar faction is maxed.

I want to look good while I smash other peoples' faces in. I'm going to be hitting UAX tonight and then I'll have nothing to do with my faction.
When I see someone with FoW armor or some other high end armor in PvE I dont think "Oooh they have skill." I think "they must farm a lot." Which means that argument is useless.
A PvE character can get pvp titles so that argument is also useless.

I think it would be entirely fair for PvPers to be rewarded with additional skins for weapons and armour. I also feel that this could be utilised in conjunction with the current system.
For instance your 'Rank' determines various skin unlocks for armours in PvP, the higher your rank the more armour skin options available to when kitting out a pvp character. You could gain additional armour options at the same point at which your emote is upgraded for instance.
Your overall balthazar faction determines which weapon skins are available to you with additional skins added at certain breakpoints. The rarer the skin the higher the faction needed to unlock it, you would not need to spend your faction to gain these weapon options anly attain the overall faction on your account necessary to reach the breakpoint.
Gladiator points unlock additional dyes for PvP, at higher levels you can create your own dye "mixes" in the same way you can in pve.
As a primarily pve player I feel it is only right that pvp, which is in general a more challenging enviroment, should allow similar rewards to pve.
This would also go some way to negating the necessity of pvp players, earning money to afford themselves rarer skins through pve.
I would also like to see some way for guilds to earn Sigils for victorys in high ranked GvG matches, for pretty much the same reasons as above.

I SIGN for WHATEVER they add for expend Balthazar Faction. It's plenty ridiculous the double faction weekend this days with a TWO year old game, don't misunderstand me, I love the double factions weekends, is good, but not anymore when you have all unlocked.
And please, stop complaining about PvPers don't "deserve" a 15k or FoW armor, REMEMBER a very few people has a very big cap in B.Factions, my cap is 50.000, so if they add an option for unlock FoW armor for 100.000 factions, that will be impossible for me, because I will need a 100k cap for unlock it, and that is a LOT more difficult than buy it in PvE.

Sorry, but PvPers should never have access to flashy armour. Flashy armour, Flashy weapons, they're PvE. You pay the price for been able to delete/reroll any character you desire and completely kit them out with Runes and Mods in an instant. If you want the flashy stuff, you PvE it.
It would be nice if they could add something with this faction... even if its adding those Flames of Balthazaar that gave you some faction (think thats what they were called), you trade them in for your excess faction and can sell it to other people to make a profit off it. Its not exactly a great solution... but i've hardly had time to think it through thoroughly.
