Any word on rainbow candy canes? Can we rule out them being collectors items? I have big piles of other collectables I've been hanging on to Just In Case.
I'm guessing they show up in Winter Gifts, whether or not there's another way to get them.

Nope, he's definitely 19. Been to him a good 3-4 times now and each time it's been the same. 2 different characters, totally different levels, one monk and another ele. Doesn't seem to vary.

There are 2 freezies. One is lvl 19 and you fight him at the end of a quest, and another is a level 20 ally in a quest.

Just a note - the Paragon type Grentch is called Varacious Grentch, not Steady Grentch.
EDIT: Some more Grentches:
Speedy Grentch (Warrior type)
Snowball
"Let's Get 'Em!"
Dodgy Grentch (Assassin type)
Snowball
Side Step
Grandiose Grentch
Snowball
Mega Snowball
Hasty Grentch
Snowball
Flurry of Ice
Grentchus Magnus (Boss)
Snowball
Yellow Snow
"Mmmm. Snowcone!"
Also, the Sacrificial Grentch and Grumpy Snowman (Necro types) seem to throw snowballs as a normal attack rather than use the spell (bug?)

I'm sure it's not a bug, there's probably a trigger for it..you know what the necro skill does though.

Worst part about this event is the fact that there are 2 sets of 9 rings, which first give you the hope for festival games where you can win tickets towards your lucky and unkucly title, which you are easily letdown when you find out these rings do absolutely nothing.
Also, should the rings ever come into play, there are 2 sets of them, one of grenth color, one of dwayna color. This further leads me to believe they will be used in some sort of dwayna vs grenth game which may give you Gamer title points, but not lucky/unluck points (lame!!!!, what is the point of titles you can't max? skill hunter/lucky/unlucky cough cough?)
I am hating the snowball fights, they are boring and heavily unbalanced in Dwayna's favor with "avalanche".

I rather do that to get gamer points than boring Snowball fights honestly. But I agree that the ticket title thing..well there should be something in the game that is permanent because 1 million tickets is afking on the ring the whole time one of those things is on and that's really not fun.
I'm sure those rings will be implemented either..tomorrow or Christmas..or next week sometime. I'm sure they wouldn't add it (if it was tickets) 1 day before the event was going to end.

Here's a walkthrough to the quest 'You're a Mean One, Mr. Grenth'. While making this guide I completed the quest with my Necromancer, to prove that profession-specific skills don't matter if you just want to finish it. So in essence, this guide if for people having difficulty completing the quest, not for people wanting to know the fastest way to do it. If you're having trouble, follow this guide and do not rush. Slow = Easy.
Note: If you're reading this guide while doing the quest, watch out for patrols!
Upon accepting the quest from the Rift Warden in Kamadan or Lion's Arch and clicking the 'I am ready' option, you will enter the Underworld in the eastern region, the Bone Pits, with the Chaos Planes stretching south immediately behind you. The quest takes you north, finishing at the position of the Reaper of the Bone Pits in the real Underworld. If you wish, you can turn around and explore the entire empty Undeworld - a good chance to see the sights if you haven't already.
Like in the PvP Snowball Arena, The world effect 'Yuletide' is on you constantly. Your maximum Health becomes 500, your maximum Energy becomes 40, and you have +4 Energy regeneration. Furthermore, you cannot use your weapon to attack, and your skill bar is as follows:
- Snowball
- Mega Snowball
- Snow Down The Shirt
- Hidden Rock
- Avalanche
- Profession-specific skill
- Ice Fort
- "Mmmm. Snowcone!"
Snowball is your main damage skill. You can use Mega Snowball when you have the adrenaline to do extra damage and knock down your opponent, buying time to kill him while he can't do anything. Using Snow Down the Shirt isn't really necessary except for the boss at the end. You won't need Avalanche much either, unless you're in a tricky situation and just want to run away from it all (cripple the enemies). While some Profession-specific skills will help you to complete the quest faster (especially the Ritualist one), they are not needed. Ice Fort will help you when fighting multiple foes at once, and Snowcone can be useful for a big heal mid-battle when you've run to a safe distance. Do not use it when in range of enemy snowballs, as you have nothing to fight back with for 10 seconds. Don't waste Snowcone - you can regen your health quickly enough after most battles, and if you use it when it's not really necessary, you may find yourself in a situation where you need it soon afterwards but it's still recharging. The same can be said with Ice Fort. For advice on Hidden Rock, see below.
A short distance in front of you when you spawn are two Grentches - a regular Grentch (with Snowball and Yellow Snow) and a Speedy Grentch (with Snowball and "Let's Get Em!"). Before you move forward, cast Hidden Rock. This is a tactic you should use throughout the quest before you attack a new enemy/enemy group, as throwing a snowball with this glyph will daze the enemy, decreasing the speed at which he can throw snowballs.
Now, run forward and aggro these two, then cast Ice Fort. Throw your first snowball at the regular Grentch to knock him down and daze him, and proceed to spam him with snowballs until he's dead. Then turn to the Speedy Grentch and spam him with snowballs too. The little damage he does to you will regenerate quickly enough after the battle. Move into the range of the presents and type /dance, as the bar in the top left corner slowly loses its redness.
Remember to put up your Hidden Rock as you head out of the cave. You'll be able to see quite a number of Grentches from this point, the nearest being a Shifty Grentch (Dervish type) on the path below you. Move to the edge of the cliff, and a snowball should hit you, telling you that you are in firing range. Proceed to pummel this Grentch from above. Now you can move down the slope, hit Hidden Rock and then attack the next nearest Grentch, up on the wall. Then move further along the path and kill the next Grentch on the wall. /dance while you take the presents.
Stop to regen here if you need to, then move right up to the wall and use Avalanche on the Icy Grentch or Sneaky Grentch there when he comes into range. Move back and at least one of the Grentches should come to the edge of the wall where you can kill him. If both of them come, be sure to use Ice Fort. Once both have been aggroed to the edge and killed, move a bit further along the path. You should be able to see a Grentch on the bridge above, another up to the left, and one patrolling along the path in front of you. When he comes under the bridge, kill him (remember Hidden Rock). Then run under the bridge, hugging the right wall, and head around the corner and up the slope. Here you can kill the Grentch atop the bridge.
The next one over the bridge is a Tricky Grentch (has Hidden Rock), and there is a second Tricky Grentch patrolling behind him. So move forward to pummel him, and if he throws a snowball with Hidden Rock at you, either run backward or strafe to dodge it. If you accidentally aggro the second Tricky, run away, as taking on these two at once is 'tricky' - they can still knock you down and daze you even if you have Ice Fort up. The one you accidentally aggroed will be the only one that follows you, so take him out at a suitable distance, then move on to kill the the stationary one.
Run over the bridge, collect any drops from the Grentches you killed earlier, and dance at the presents until you have taken them. In front of you now should be a Grandiose Grentch (he has Mega Snowball, oh noes) and a Sacrificial Grentch. There is another Sacrificial Grentch behind them - leave him alone for now as you cast Hidden Rock and aggro the first two. Take out the Grandiose first, then the Sacrificial. The Sacrificials don't actually use skills - their snowballs seem to be attacks rather than spells - and it would appear they are Necros, though they don't use Holiday Blues (boom). Anyway, proceed to kill the second Sacrificial, then stop to let your health regenerate a bit.
Now you need to head up the path to the right, where three Grentches are clustered together. If you hit Tab when you've come a fair way up the slope, the closest should be a Sacrificial Grentch on the left. Lob a snowball at him and move back around the corner. He should follow. Kill him, then be naughty and hide a rock in your next snowball, which will be aimed at the Troublesome Grentch (Ritualist type, can summon Jack Frost, who is essentially an extra snowball-thrower). Get in range, lob your snowball, then cast Ice Fort. He should have already summoned Jack Frost, because you aggroed him when attacking the Sacrificial. So kill him, then Jack. Now use Hidden Rock and pummel the Hungry Grentch (uses "Mmmm. Snowcone!"). /dance at the presents until you've 'rescued' them.
Next, head back and take the other path. Aggro and kill the Veracious Grentch (Paragon type) on the wall, then cast Hidden Rock and run straight around the corner to attack the Icy Grentch. If you're fast, you might be able to interrupt his Icicles, but it doesn't matter too much. Once you've killed him, run forward hugging the left edge. Turn the corner and kill the Flashy Grentch (Mesmer type - his interrupt and blind won't do much to you).
Run up the right hand side of the slope. Around the statue are three enemies: Grentchus Magnus, the level 19 boss, a Tricky Grentch and an Icy Grentch. Leave the boss, and with Hidden Rock up, aggro the nearest Grentch to you. If it's the Tricky, dodge his Hidden Rock snowball and then kill him. If you aggro both at once, you'll need to run away until only one is following you, or reach a position at which only one of them can hit you with his snowballs. Use Snowcone here if you need to. Once they're both dead and you're at full health, cast Hidden Rock, run straight at Grentchus Magnus and use Snow Down the Shirt on him. Then proceed to pummel him so that you interrupt his every move. Use Ice Fort if it's available. He should go down easy. Now you can celebrate by capturing the last set of presents, which ends the quest.
An Avatar of Dwayna will appear beside the statue, and by talking to her you can either go to Lion's Arch or Kamadan to get your reward, or stay for the bonus challenge.
Bonus Challenge:
Survive for as long as possible. There are six 'waves' of five Grentches that come one by one. You receive 1 Candy Cane Shard for each completed wave.
Grentches spawn at two points:
1. Behind the statue.
2. At the top of the slope that you came up.
Therefore it is best to stand in the corner where Grentchus Magnus was, so you are at an equal distance from both (roughly). With each wave, there is less time between each Grentch spawn. The first wave consists of non-profession Grentches such as regular Grentches, Speedies, Sneakies and Trickies. The next few waves start to bring in Grentches with professions such as Icy, Sacrificial, Veracious, Troublesome, as well as Hungry and Grandiose. Watch out for the Frozen (Monk) Grentches that appear in the last two waves - their knockdown and regen can make you lose vital time, so the best thing you can do is attempt to interrupt their Ice Breaker.
When the bonus is complete, the Avatar of Dwayna may take a while to appear or won't appear at all. I found that using a skill made her appear, but I'm not sure exactly what happened.
--------------------------
That's all for now, I might take a look at the other quest later.

Under the types of grentches you encounter in the PvE UW snowball fights, under the Paragon grentch, you put the skill as Steady Arm instead of Steady AIM. Also, when is the Xunlai Agent with the Wintergreen Prizes coming out? I won in the Xunlai Tournament and the Agent still isnt in the game...

The "Do not touch" chests result in an attack by varied mobs. When I did the Cavern chest run my party (henches and heroes) were attacked by several Djinn. As far as touching goes, you get a nice drop, just be prepared to fight for it!

EDIT: *sigh* the rewards are...more candy cane shards. all 4 presents i've returned I got CC shards. -_-
