In any case, I think it would be really cool if ch4 was a prequel. Like if it was in the time of or slightly before the Guild Wars. I really doubt that will happen, but I think it would be awesome.
A prequel would be sweet, like the original Krytan and Ascalonian Guild Wars. there is so much in the lore of the game that could be used or they might pull a Final Fantasy on us and have the next chapter be an entirely different setting with the Guild Wars name attached.

Honestly the threat from the north that people keep talking about doesn't necessarily have to be Charr. Ever wandered along the northern beach in Kryta? There are defensive emplacements and watchtowers there. The Charr don't seem like an ocean going race. Perhaps the Charr did once inhabit the far north and were pushed out by something worse than them? Speculation abounds and that's not necessarily a bad thing so long as people take it for what it is, speculation. That's one cool tjhing about the lore of this game. It's never explained in depth which leaves tons of opportunities for the devs to come back and make us go, " Oh so that's why that building was there." or " Oh ok now that snippet of conversation makes sense."

More storage places.

Weapons on Heros to be available to all characters. I think Characters I transfer from one expansion to the other, the Heros should have the same guns so I don't have to keep switching (it's not fun to level them all up). However, I think maybe if you go through the story from the start - then maybe the Heros could have different weapons (not sure).

Mounts.

Maybe bigger area, with less zones... Not sure on this.

Room for bigger parties.

To be able to make things in town or something... It wouldn't have to be fully like wow, but it'd be fun to do more things in town.

A customized weapon should be able to be used on the whole account, not just one character. Then it'd forbid you of selling to other people - but you'd get the +15 damage or whatever it is still.

I think that chapt 4 will be huge but the missions will be reported alot or something, because there too many average players that complaigntoo much, and this game will be complicated. This game will probably teach us players whoplayed since day once new things. The hero system in chap 3 i had to get use to......and these mounts you speak of they might take awhile to get use to.

list of things i hope to see?
Mounts

20 missions
a more challenging last mission

1) Mounts (horse, camel, elephant, pony, etcetera.) Basically anything that will allow you to normally increase your travel speed. Without having to equipm running skills. And I'm thinking that mounts should not be available at towns or whatever, but they should be available like outside in the explorable areas. Have a small stable area where you can rent horses or whatever for you and your party members (read: heroes / henchmen).

2) Machines. I would like a slight increase in the technology available. I'd like to see the increased use of black powder weapons like muskets and pistols. I'm not saying make a full out profession that uses guns as weapons, but you should be able to buy one-shot inventory items that let you do a one-shot ranged attack (with a musket or pistol) at an enemy. That would be incredibly cool. I want the new seige weapons of war to no longer be ballista and trebuchet. I want cannons, too. I want to see the beginnings of a railroad system. A means of getting from one town to another that you haven't actually had the chance to walk to yet.

3) Professions. Okay, yes, I AM saying that I want a full out profession that uses guns as weapons. I'd like to see a gunslinger profession. Dual wielding gun that can do a little more damage than an assassin's daggers, but with a slower attack rate. Gunslinger and maybe something else. Something like Warmonk where you can fight with your bare hands and feet. Awww yeah! Where you can like equip brass knuckles in order to attack with your bare hands and feet. So you don't have to completely restructure the game engine.

4) Limited Time Travel. I'd DEFINITELY love to go back to pre-searing and explore more of the Charr lands and find out maybe what it was that caused the Charr to invade first hand. See what we could do to maybe try to stop it, learn that time is unchanging, and no matter what you do you can't stop the inevitable. But still it would be incredibly fun to play around with. Pre-searing, and maybe use this limited time travel as a means of getting the slightly advanced technologies. Such as gunslinger and seige weapons, and the rail road system. The possabilities are endless!

5) Additional races. If this game was meant initially for humans only, then why even have another "friendly" race like the Shiverpeak Dwarves. Allowing additional races would not "break the game" like many people suspect. You don't have to have them with "different stats" just because they're dwarves, or Tengu. Just leave them with the same stats (or whatever) as humans, just with different skins. Dwarves and Tengu get no special treatment because they are dwarves or Tengu. Treat them like different proportioned humans and boom. Problem solved.

And if I think of anything else that I'd like to see in a future GW game, I'll add it... OH!

6) Missions to help clear land and help pave the way for railroads to other continents (like a railway from Tyria to Elonah -- only if you have both previous campaigns). Seriously! The possabilities are freakin' endless!!
The siege weapons used by Kournans are cannons, operated by a giant fling hammer coming down and hitting the powdered barrel. Also siege turtles have cannons strapped to their backs. Guns already exist in gwars.

As a PvP'er, the best thing Chapter Four could do for me is bring absolutely no new skills or new classes. I would be ecstatic if that happened.

Unfortunately that just isn't possible with the GW market strategy, so here are some reasonable things that I do desire:

-- Completely revamped HA with all new maps new settings and new win conditions. I don't care if you make it 6v6 or 8v8 (although I prefer 6v6) so long as you change the maps and make the win conditions less restrictive to build choices!

-- Special attention given to the Necromancer class and also to the Ranger class. These two classes have a ton of issues that need to be resolved before they can become robust, functioning members of the PvP metagame, and if this means a complete rework of Expertise and Soul Reaping then so be it!

-- No new defensive classes. I would absolutely adore the next two classes if they were both offensive -- not necessarily pure damage offense, but perhaps offensive support or offensive debuff. Just no defensive classes to aid in slowing the game down.

-- If you choose to make a new PvP format, then please make it actually worth playing. Every new PvP format introduced since release has been an utter joke. Pretty maps do not a good format make. And if you can't put together something good, don't put anything in at all. To be honest I think adding yet another defunct-out-of-the-box format would be far more destructive to the PvP game than choosing not to add a format at all.

No future crap... please.

I like the idea of another class that uses their voice more - whereas the Paragon used shouts and chants to defend/boost the party how about a class that uses offensive [sic] chants and shouts as short term/repeating debuff? Could work well with a new weapon class - whips - quarter range. That could allow for some MK scorpion-style "Get over here" moves to pull specific targets into range or something like that. Maybe call the class "Sadist" and go the whole hog on the fetish theme

Alternatively I can see a polymorph class working quite well - having seen how the elite Dervish Avatar skills work I think the style of play could be translated well into a new class that way - Polymorphs could have anamalistic howls (chant/shout type abilities), unarmed combat styles (claw weapons), polymorphing abilities, and self regenerative abilities.

Anyway - just my 2 cents

I really would like to see a new expansion which contains a little something for all three GW campaigns. More like a major update, and not all PvE or PvP driven content.

Just a little bit of everything. New PvE and PvP content, and a lot of extra functionality's that the community has been begging for since the very beginning.

Maybe they should have a time travel chapter to a point in time where they're Jedi and the such so we Wammos can go get some pretty Lightsabers and then go back in time to say Nightfall and go "IF YOU SMELLALALALA WHAT MY LIGHTSABER IS COOKING?!"

Then we can add in Droids. /droidname R2D2. Oh yeah!

I'd like to see more optional quests like Double Dog Dare. For those who don't know; it's a quest in Istan where you go on a little treasure hunt without getting the green waypoint on your radar. You just have to figure the clues and follow them to the end point.

This wouldn't be a good idea for the main quests as it would probably get a lot of people to get stuck in the game. I'd just like to see more puzzles in the game as in little cryptic treasure hunts, or puzzles to solve optional quests just to get more diversity in the quests.

Well, let's see, at most there's a span of about 2 years over the current campaigns. Nuclear wastelands last for a really long time. What's the radioactive half-life of a Charr fire spell?

Wow. Where to start. That's a lot of pipe dreams. Mounts? There is absolutely no need or use for mounts anywhere in the Guild Wars system. Period. Why does everyone keep requesting mounts? There's no where in the game that's too far to walk, and in most places, you walk it once and then you can map past it next time! It sounds like you just want more speed without using a skill, probably for farming items, and we all know how Anet feels about farming. In short, never going to happen.

Machines? Guns? Why? That goes completely against the fantasy setting that is GW. Yes I know there are other fantasy games with rudimentary firearms, but they always feel out of place to me. If that's what you want, go play one of those games. (they usually have mounts too )

A "Warmonk" who can fight with his bare hands? Go make yourself a Monk/Assassin (or A/Mo for that matter) and use Deadly Arts. There you go, a monk who fights barehanded. If that's not good enough for you, go play NWN2, it's loads of fun.

Limited time travel, now there's one idea that might hold some merit. I do think it would be fun to go back presear with higher level characters and adventures. Maybe even see Orr before it was destroyed. I don't know if it would happen, but could be cool if it did.

Another common request, more races. I don't really understand this one. Yes, there is a certain attraction to having something other than a plain ol' human. But it does complicate things, even if you just give them the same stats as humans. It's not just a matter of making one new model/skin for each race, you'd have to make all the various customization options (face, hair, skin, etc) and then make versions of each set of armor for each profession for each race. Anet keeps GW monthly fee free by keeping their new content simple. New races, mounts, and gunpowder all mean big changes to the system. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it's never going to happen.

Over the last year and a half I've seen a lot of suggestions for things that add so many layers of complication to Guild Wars. Remember people, one of the things that makes GW such a success is its simplicity! It's an easy system to learn and to play, with enough options to keep things interesting but not so many as to make it overwhelming. It's a simple game, and that's the joy of it. Don't try to make it something it's not.

I was wondering why no thread about Ch4 after one week of NF's release. But, now, here it is.

I don't remember where I read it, but I remember it pretty vividly that NF will be the end of this tyria/cantha/elona storyline. So, Ch4 should be somewhere else, with a brand new story (maybe old story, new land).

Also, Ch4 should be developed by the group of Faction, which I'm not very fond of. Don't know what Ch4 will come out like.

there would be no point for mounts in guild wars unless they either throw away the map travel or its just a mini-game.

for a music based profession. maybe a profession that plays instruments like gwen's flute. it would be very similar to paragons though.

I just want bigger, badder weapons, and I'll be happy.

I do think a Dual starting place would be cool. IE: Campaign 4 is before the searing, and we can start in orr, or Kryta, and each place gets it's unique class, armor, weapons, ETC. Then, we head north, Searing happens, other peeps come in, Finish game, ETC.

*spoilers*
Actually, a Nuclear wastelands do not last as you think they might.

Secondly, If you think of the game from the moment you start in pre-searing to the moment you destroy abbadon, and kormir absorbs it's power, there is exactly a 5 year period.

Ref: Charr invaded the northern lands on 1070 AE

This inscription can be found on the Statue of the Goddess of Truth in the Chantry of Secrets:
"....And so by mortal hands did a new immortal enter creation.

-- Scriptures of Kormir, 1075 AE"

That is 5 YEARS already.

Now why hasn't anyone thought of a preserved currently unknown area of Ascalon? Have you thought what Anet is planning to do with Gwen and its quest items?

Simply said, and this is a rumour, an area south of Reagent Valley is magically preserved, and Gwen is also there, preserved. The area can be unlocked with the quest items of Gwen, and then the area would be unlocked for the whole account.

The Area would simply have the look of Wizard's Isle in the guild hall selection, a look of pre-searing ascalon. NOW THAT WOULD BE COOL.

all of you getting on the factions team, really needs to stop.....they made one game, lets see how they do with this game ok? If this game is bad, than you can talk. And when you read that it ends the storyline with the last two games....dosent mean that we wont see things involving people of elona tyria and cantha. Just like there are alot of cantha traders in nightfall.....(they are on the beach in noob island.) So since the timeline says elona traders there will probably be a couple of people from tyria in there and alot of cantha/elonian people in there. There are alot of loose ends in tyria. Like the charr i dont really remember defeating them, all i remember is fighting them off and killing a leader in a quest. Also there is glint...that dragon with little to say. The seer, ya she or he is the same also lives in a cave close to the chapter 4s background. There is gwen......gaile was messing with my head on christmas...i asked gaile where gwen was (lol) and Gaile said she remains a mysterious to her ( i got a picture of it) hmmm what else is there?

The problem concerning new professions is that people aren't thinking outside the box.

Everyone wants something that already exists in other Multiplayer RPGs. The point of new guild wars professions from factions and nightfall was to be different. Paragons and Dervish are something of which we haven't really seen before, and use a myriad of skills we've never anticipated. Ritualists and assassins take small elements from D&D classes but twist them and make them very unique in their own way enough to be in their own branch.

Things that will never happen in GW
-Mounts
-Guns
-Open cities

It seems that a few people just plainly and obviously want a free version of WoW. That isn't GW's(ArenaNet's) objective.

Thoughts on Chap 4:

1. There aren't any futuristic weapons. Yes the Luxons and Kournans had siege weapons but they were HUGE. I wouldn't want my henchman 'Zippy the Turtle [siege henchman]' lumbering after me at a slow pace just to pop off a round once in a battle (and who wants to run around with a smoke pot all the time).

2. Kormir sends us back to Tyria where we start mixing it up with the remnants of White Mantle and Mursaat. We go over the top and find out why the Charr invaded (yes, NF addresses some of that), maybe ally with them and put a stop to it.

3. Going back to presear would be nice but as a retroactive thing. Perhaps we could have a storyline where we find out what's going on and have to head back to presear times to try to put a stop to it (even if we fail per the storyline). I'd rather that than play a prequel adventure that wouldn't make sense if I brought my level 20 and might prevent me from using my existing chars) Then we go back to present day Tyria and continue the fight there.

4. Develop portions of the map that are currently unexposed.

5. Put a stop to those angry, angry stone summit dudes. This could be tied in with the whole WM/Murs/Charr aspect.

5. Find Gwen so I can clean out those nagging quest items! She's obviously the pirate leader AKA Dread Pirate Gwen...(okay, magically aged a few years..) Who knows, maybe we can have Jatoro use his pirate connections to help us get at her!

6. Don't include horses/mounts. I think the wurms were neat enough (if terribly noisy) and the Sulferous Waste did prevent us from jumping too far ahead of the storyline (yes, I know about edge travel) but I don't think we need to have repeats. It is odd however that other than Dolyaks we don't see any kind of domesticated beasts of burden to ride or carry loot.

7. Perhaps..just perhaps, have a class of mounted warfare. This isn't a total contradiction of my #6, just something along the line of another Zhed or perhaps a mounted knight/cavalier or archer. Not something that would require all new skillset for everyone (like the wurm skills) but it's own class. Haven't thought it all through but it just popped into my head. I suppose first off it would make a nightmare as a possible secondary..

8. This is long enough..just leave out the machines (please no D&D gnomish tinkers!) and futuristic elements. Keep a fantasy setting.

heres what they should do with another guild wars chapter.

1. the technology is getting old. the amount of polygons on the screen are absolutaly pathetic. i can deal with that, right now it doesnt realy show that much.
2. the skills are drawn out to the max. soon the original 6 professions are going to have so many copied spells that a monk will beable to run a "heal party" build or a heal area build just using copied skills. (i know its not accurate but im just using a broad example)
3. the games are repetitive. guild wars is awesome, but i they are extremely repetative. i used to have 9 pve charaters lvl 20 but i ended up deleting 5 of them because i couldt keep up with all of the stuff i had to do, and i was geting bored of it.
4. exaclty as false truth said, you will never have open cities, guns or mounts.
5. the community loves the game, but reviewers are seeing past all of our excitement and keep on giving these games lower scores. look at ign.com
prophesies had 9.0 and it deserved it. factions got an 8.5 most of the players thought it deserved a 4.0 but oh well. nightfall got an 8.2 (im not so sure about this one, but it is lower then factions) i would say the community would be happy with an 8.9 because its beter then factions and prophesies was a bit better. anyway, if they make another expansion then the score is bound to go down to 7.9 or lower.
6. everybody wants to know what happens after all the events in the games. what happens to ascalon? what happens to the mursaat? ill guarantee you that its impossible for anet to make an expansion that takes place in tyria. it wouldnt work.
7. nightfall closed up the three games perfectly. making a chapter 4 would ruin it all.

so, take a look at all of those. everybody wants to know the aftermath. in my opinion, this is the perfect time for anet to make an actual sequel. there would be no limits on what they could do with the graphics. the town system could be totaly revamped, mabey into a mix of open towns and no regions, just a seamless world while still keeping no monthly fees. now seeing how during the wintersday festable the l.a. servers were racking up to close to 200(that was just in America) and still beable to run that with no monthly fees, is pretty much outstanding. it also gives the rest of the mmos out there no excuses to why they have to have a monthly fee.

they could change the game in the best ways possible if they make a whole new sequel on a diferent game client. they could possibly draw out the luxon/kurzick warfare to an amazing extent. mabey 20 missions for each faction alone to give an amazing in depth experience on how intense the war is. guild warfare could be totaly revamped. they could make all three continents into one huge game map. each quest could make you traveling all over the world just to meet up with a certain person. the possibilities are ENDLESS! but if they just make an expansion, then none of this would be possible.

anet spent 3 years alone on prophesies, and it turned out to be amazing. they spent 1 year for nightfall and 1 year for factions, and it shows the rushed job.
anet should work hard for a long time for guild wars 2 and give the players 3-5 years to play around in the game for now. by that time not a lot of ppl will be playing and it will be safe to close down the servers. if they do it the way i hope they should then guild wars 2 should come out around 2010-2012, and it would be incredible. im crossing my fingers that anet doesnt come out with another rushed job expansion, and that they work on this new guild wars for a long time and perfect it.

Hmm, I seem to remember reading somewhere after factions came out that there is now a team working on chapter 4...

Anyways, here is what I want:

1. No new classes, PLEASE! Ten is enough for now, I want to get some extra slots so I can just tinker with the existing professions and my existing characters.

2. Something to do with Orr would be AWESOME!

3. No guild wars two, at least not for a while. I like the current system.

4. Z-axis would be nice, but would stuff up the game.

5. New races would be nice, but a huge amount of effort.

Sorry to do this but, you're asking for the near impossible because of multiple factors.

Better graphics doesn't equal good gameplay. This has been proven time after time after time by the original, creative games that come out on consoles, homebrew games, flash games, and other games that use simplistic graphics yet have great, involving gameplay, the sole reason why handhelds still exist. It has also been proven in terms of WoW(Which has worse graphics IMO), and yet they still hold a massive fanbase, with no showing of it diminishing at all.

Then there's a game like EQ2, which brought all of the new graphics, but killed the gameplay, and lost a large portion of it's user fanbase because of it(and because of system requirements).

3. the games are repetitive. guild wars is awesome, but i they are extremely repetative. i used to have 9 pve charaters lvl 20 but i ended up deleting 5 of them because i couldt keep up with all of the stuff i had to do, and i was geting bored of it.
They took small steps to make original quests( I personaly preferred the double dog dare quest to be one of the best and think they should use that example for more quests in the future). Hopefully they'll keep making original quests.

4. exaclty as false truth said, you will never have open cities, guns or mounts.
So you actually want those? why? They don't fit with guild wars, they fit with another game, which also has a monthly fee. Once again, I bring up my "people want a free to play WoW" when that isn't what A net wants nor intends to do.

5. the community loves the game, but reviewers are seeing past all of our excitement and keep on giving these games lower scores. look at ign.com
prophesies had 9.0 and it deserved it. factions got an 8.5 most of the players thought it deserved a 4.0 but oh well. nightfall got an 8.2 (im not so sure about this one, but it is lower then factions) i would say the community would be happy with an 8.9 because its beter then factions and prophesies was a bit better. anyway, if they make another expansion then the score is bound to go down to 7.9 or lower.
Nowadays no one takes reviews number scores seriously. This is why games that could score a 3 would sell immensly. If people want the real review, they'll read the actual review, look at the good and bad, and decide for themselves, without just skimming for the score.

7. nightfall closed up the three games perfectly. making a chapter 4 would ruin it all.
All questions were not answered, therefore I don't think it was the perfect closure. This is why a chapter 4 is a must.

the town system could be totaly revamped, mabey into a mix of open towns and no regions, just a seamless world while still keeping no monthly fees.
Once again, you are asking for the impossible/Free WoW. No towns or regions = servers, and servers= monthly fee. This will not add up.

Quote:
now seeing how during the wintersday festable the l.a. servers were racking up to close to 200(that was just in America) and still beable to run that with no monthly fees, is pretty much outstanding. it also gives the rest of the mmos out there no excuses to why they have to have a monthly fee.
Once again, you have to learn the difference of Guild Wars' Town system and servers. And why they would be underpaid if there was no monthly fee, yet servers.

Quote:
they could change the game in the best ways possible if they make a whole new sequel on a diferent game client.
Requiring even more money...

While I agree with some of your points mainly the unquoted ones,(especially quests that span over multiple continents), your other ideas are just...impossible.

i get what ur saying with my ideas are just impossible, but im realy thinking outside of the box here.

with the graphics. with nightfall they added some amazing visuals without raising the requirements. only thing i have wrong with the graphics is when i look at the walls and edges of hills im seeing some dreadful images. thats all i realy wanted out of the gfx. and i dont want them to just focus on graphics, its just about the last thing on my list for the game.

what i was saying about the new game client was that i dont want another expansion running on the same logon screen, it would make a lot of things that the game needs imposible.

i like the whole world being instanced. the exploring factor in the game is amazing. i love going out and doing some mapping if im bored. i just dont like the zones and the fact that ur kinda limited to a path. it would be cool to beable to walk up huge mountains. i would also like it that if u are on a path, that there is not a whole mob of baddies in the way. its wierd to me about how you go into a town and its a 100% safehaven, but right when you walk outside you get pummeled by enimies.

the quests are pretty good in the game. problem with them is all you have to do is run to the little green dot. no thinking at all. if anybody plays oblivion and plays morrowind then you will know that searching around and talking to npcs to find out where to go is much more fun then running towards the red arrow.

i would like to roleplay sometimes as well. im not too into this but let me live another life inside the game. to an extent. it would be pretty cool to go inside a town, run into a bar grab a drink and sit down and talk to some friends or guildies. have the npcs actualy do things instead of just standing around for an eternity.

one more thing- more then one storyline. the main storyline is awesome and the fact that its on a mmo is even better. but face it, after you finish the three continents all you can do is grind for titles, attempt to farm, or go into pvp. but pvp characters have so much of an advantage now that thers no point for pve guys to even try. so after the main story is done have some side stories as well. join the luxons or the kurzicks and lead there faction to vicory over the other. more things like that that give me motivation not to trash my character after the main quest line is done.

now keep in mind that if things go the way i predict it will, then the game will come out around 2010 to 2012. online games will be a whole different thing. guild wars made the first big move to get rid of the traditional mmo by adding a storyline, and a new fps mmo called huxley(im pretty sure thats what its called) is going to change a ton of things. so by the time 2012 roles along some things that seem impossible right now will be very easy to do. if i came up to you 10 years ago and showed you guildwars and said that im playing with thousands of ppl all over the world right now all for no charge you would be in total disbelief and would be telling urself..... this is impossible that would never happen.

agk512, besides graphical updates, 95% of what you're saying already exists in another game. It's like saying "oops, I accidentally bought this game, but I really wanted the other game. But I can't sell it back. Therefore, I wish they would make this game more like the other game". I know you're thinking outside the box, but that doesn't mean thinking inside another box.

Chapter 4 doesn't have to involve the storyline from the past 3 chapters.. infact I'm pretty sure it won't. They will probably open up a new story arch.

I agree fully with this....as long as they answer questions that people are eagerly awaiting an answer to.

I am guessing they may do something with Menzies and Dhuum with what Olias said at the end of Nightfall about how Grenth has not yet overthrown Dhuum. There could be something when Dhuum rises and/or Menzies wants to fight his half brother Balthazar, you never know!

Ch4 is old hack, what about CH5??

I would be really happy if 1) there were no new professions and 2) Gwen comes back and gives all us faithful Gwen-Item-Keepers a stack of 250 Ecto for our loyalty before leading us on a mission to retake Ascalon and invade the Charr lands
