How many of us have been here from the very beginings?

I've been playing since May 29th, 2005 - the day which also happens to be my birthday. ^^
So my ele (my first and only PvE character) has her birthday on the same day as I do ^^

Been playing since the week after release. I ordered Prophecies on the week of its release after seeing a friend play it, but it didn't arrive until the next week.
Rahl
I got the game the day of release... yay.

I've been playing since the first beta event and never looked back
Formed a guild with a few friends, ran it for over 2 years to fairly good success and currently on a 3 month break from GW due to working abroad.

Didn't play beta but pre-ordered the game and got it on the day of release (was £17.99 from play - didn't know anything about it at the time but liked the sound of it )

I was convinced by my friends to try out GW during WPE, Oct 2004. I was instantly hooked. I'm still hooked.
GW is a great game, but like many people here, I've started losing interest due to a few things in the game that make it more aggravating than fun.
I think with so many more character slots, 3 full chapters, and hundreds upon hundreds of skills...Arena-Net needs to address how to make the game less repetitive for it's players. I have noticed many of you mention that you have lost some interest in the game. If you have, you really should check out my thread here.
Since nearly everyone here is a very long-time player, if you haven't read this thread...you should, and post your thoughts! It's directed toward the long-time player crowd, to help send a message to Arena-net, on what their original player base wants to see changed/added/tweaked in the game.
I still love this game...I just hope they can renew interest in it, with innovative changes and features.

The E3 for Everyone event sucked me in. I didn't miss a World Preview Event since then, and have pre-ordered every release thus far. I did take about a four month break from the game to play World of Warcraft though, so I'm not as hardcore as some people here.

I started at the beginning and loved the first chapter. I dont play much anymore since the chapter 2 & 3 are separate from chapter 1. The fan base is so spread out between the chapters and on top of the updates/nerfs, the game is just not fun for me anymore. I might change my mind in the future, but I just cant get into chapter 3 and have a hard time keeping up with all the constant changes to the game.
Connect the chapters into one map to reunite the community and I'll come back!!
Imo A-net screwed up this game for a lot of people that were originally happy with the game.
Man I miss farming and running back in the old days (good times back then)

I've been playing since the WPE and did most of the Beta Weekends. I was instantly hooked and got Prophecies on the day it came out and bought all other chapters as well. I still love this game a lot
Felessan
Played the game from the beginning (and still playing). 'beta tester'
Arcane De Farad
I think every one who was caught in net of GW on WPE was a beta tester... friend of mine was even alpha tester .

<-- since WPE
still a great game. play on and off, when the mood strikes or i get an idea. just rolled up 2 new characters this week in fact. felt like giving dervish a try and made an elonian witch doctor necro that i been wanting to create since the NF preview. those new 'bushman' skins are too good. an unused ele got the axe to make room.
edit: in fact, the image for my avatar came from a screenshot during one of the BWEs.

I've been here since maybe 2 months after Prophecies came out. Although I only played for a month before coming back a couple of months later due to really bad lag when I first started.

Been around since World Preview Event. Anyone else remember when The Wilds was such a hard mission >_< ?

Oh yeah. Dam Centaurs, Trolls!!!
This game has come a long way, and as i read many people are beginning to lose interest. That's no problem, it a part of life. People see a new game, new adventures, play it then notice the same pattern after the first expansion. Then the break through in the second expansion offers many more features never seen before. but the same pattern of missions come out, so people begin to loose interest.
Started back in beta whe the chat screens were overwhelmed with advertising prompts. Oh brother! This is the first game that has me farming my brains out. Because i have chosen to stick primarly to the PvE side. I still have many more opportunities on the PvP side. Why i think many people loose interest is because they are waiting for someone else to show them a new build or new tactic to use in order to figure out how to make playing the game easier. Many people need to start playing the game, by themselves and understand how to structure their tactics to understand the gameplay a lot better. This will open up meeting more knowledgeable players allowing them to fully enjoy it.
Well im just going on and on. I love this game very much and i have met many cool people along the way. (as well as many bad) but that's part of the game. Well for all the hardcore gamers that love to play GW and will continue to play until GW is no more, see ya around. for those who are loosing interest, i say find another game if you wish to continue playing games because maybe you may get to the point were you no longer want to play games at all.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

I played the alpha - 25 lvl there :P
and for the offtopic - play when you feel so, If you force yourself to do it, it will bring only negative feeling (like some other grind mmorpgs). I do such.
It is completely normal to lose interest in something if you do it constantly. I even get tired of using a PC for once? That is not even remotely possible :P. So I took a brake.

was gonna do the last beta event before release but missed out...so i started on release day
Lord Dobo
I had kept an eye on it through articles and such long before release, but I never did beta. It was my first MMO, I even passed up trying other things for around a year because it sounded so cool. But when it finally launched I didn't have high speed, and conivinced I wouldn't enjoy it until I did, didn't actually buy it until about a month after launch. Very glad I did. Loved most of my time on it, have ten characters, spent around 2000 hours on it, and my longest time away has been about a week or so.
Unfortunately, after having just posted in a thread about how I hedge the fence on how I feel about the way the community has changed, I'm now depressed about all the things I miss about how things used to be and am now wondering if I should just look for a new game. I'll probably hang around and wait for info on CH4, but I think they are starting to loose another "hardcore" player.
But who knows, maybe by morning my interest will have returned... the smooth combat system seems to draw me in to kill just one more monster.

well i have been playing guild wars since day of the release of Prophecies. The only reason i really play it is all the people i know now and my friends. Also, helping out the new people makes you feel real good: cool:

Been here since the beta weekends...
I finally got around to completing Prophecies this past fall and two weeks ago I beat Nightfall. I am now working on Factions.
I like some of the updates, some I don't like, but I still play.

Been here since release day though I took a break in my 4th year of university for several months from Proph.
I probably enjoyed Factions the most of all the chapters, though they've all been good, but I took 3 characters through NF very fast one after the other with a guildie and heroes so it started to get old. I'm on once per week or so now, but work has also cranked up and I can't devote 2+ hours an evening anymore and that ruins most things I'd do with my guild.
I'll have to see if Chapter 4 renews my interest or if GW just becomes another game I pick up from time to time like the Civilizations...
