I've been playing now since around May 7th, 2005. I was following GW's progress before the release, but didn't participate in any of the betas though I was tempted. Can't believe it's been that long, really.

Ever since May of 2005. Bought all three chapters, but took around...4 month break at the release of Sorrow's Furnace.

I think November 05-February 06 was the dullest guild wars era in history.

Been on since day one. I agree with most others saying that it has got less interesting, but doesn't every game? The fast that I am still playing shows that there is still something special about it.

I also hold faith that the next chapter will revitalise the game.

//raises hand.
recently started a new presear character with the intention of leaving her there to help friends get through presear upon joining the ranks....
Was pissed to find out that I've lost my pre-order bow from EB!!!!!
I loved having 15 dmg hits on a lvl 2 char. Now I cant seem to find a good bow anywhee in pre-sear!!
Like most on this thread, took a break after getting burned out on Factions, but came back shortly before Nightfall released.
--- My monk is almost 2 years old, will be crawling soon.

Got it the day of retail release. 2,000 hours later, I still play it several times a week.

Have to admit, though, I'm increasingly tempted by other games....

WPE+all betas.

Anyone else getting nostalgic when looking at old screenshots? Tombs was fun, some classes were totally imba, the amount of complaining was 95% lower and Protection Monks were for pussies.

*edit*
And TGH was worth reading.

One of Many [ONE]

A few months after retail - I've always hated online games. I kept reading that "free online play" and was picturing either some crappy MMORPG or Diablo minus the single player part.

I eventually bit the bullet and traded a prophecies key for some minor work on a relatives computer. I wasn't out any money so what the heck (they weren't going to pay me money for work anyway, but for some reason they are happy to purchase me a game for work) and there currently wasn't any other game I cared for. Plus it had this really nice looking pale female on the box cover (Eve) that I kept wanting to look at.

Haven't looked back sense. By far one of the longest played games I've owned. The only gripe I have is that 10 years from now I can't install and play - I still do some of the older games I really really liked (some of the old text based on up - started gaming in the mid 80's or so). I just wished I had gotten the collector's edition - they were willing to spring for it but I felt it was too much for the work I did. I could have easily traded for more work (I do it anyway, relatives and all) but I figured that I wouldn't like the game and would rather ask for a collectors on another game I really liked.

I'm playing guild wars since the day before public release date...
Yeah I preordered it (chimeric prism ftw !)
I didn't participate in any of the WPE, but a good friend of mine did, and told me how good this game was...so I decided to preorder it.
Unfortunately, It wasn't possible to preorder the CE edition (and get the preorder bonus+the collector's edition), that's my only regret.

Oh and yeah, like a lot of people here, I'm slowly losing interest...sadly

Ever since them lovely BWE days. Prophecies was awesome back then, but Guild Wars in general really has gone downhill.

Too much emphasis on damage and builds nowadays. It takes away from the game itself. Wealth generation does, too. Ever since wealth became important in this game, going places and doing quests is almost always a chore as you know you could be making gold somewhere else.

It was more fun when the items you used were ones you looted yourself, and money wasn't an issue. 20 levels just weren't enough to keep that going for very long.
