And to Gaile - please remind the devs that most of the screaming about "nerfed" mesmer skills comes from players using mesmer as secondary. I don't have any problem in PvE with my mesmer. Once you are past the 4-person party area, I have had no problem getting into a group.

@Redfeather1975 - what do you mean by a "useful" role in PvE. What do you call making the other party members think they are uber players? There is nothing ANet can change that will make non-mesmers understand the benefits of the profession or what we do.

ANet should make skills tied to Fast Casting if they want to boost mesmer without benefiting the x/Me group.

1) Challenge Missions - Yawn. Excuse to get people to play these missions maybe? Now the only ones even touched are the ones that give armor peices, and then very rarely anymore.

2) Will be interesting for all of 30mins the first night its out.

3) Great update, but really doesn't effect me since I save my password anyway.

4) Waiting to see how much "improvement" this is before I comment.

5) New and improved meaning what? That they aren't 30 seconds long (both consist of going right outside of town and killing 1 mob group)?, or the monsters will be nerfed to be more in line with the levels of the area, or what?

6) Event might be cool. I probably won't do much in it, but it might be cool.

7) Skill Updates that happened last patch: If I remember correctly all you really did was Bro-Rape "Incoming!" and make another attempt at changing Grenth without having to touch its effect.

8) You mean have them be something else other than Spear Chunking Go for the Eyes spammers? Thats hard to do without reintroducing the problem they cause in pairs or more.

9) Mesmers will never be all around greatly used PvE characters. They are too much designed to shutdown/deny/otherwise annoy an opponent, and these things just aren't the style of PvE where 9 times outta 10 its just more effective to kill the enemy than try to shut it down. I say if you want Mesmers used, design areas that play to Mesmer's expertise - areas that cry for a mesmer to be brought along instead of the current fashion where "harder" just equals more and higher lvl'ed monsters to bash.

11) Early stages on Test servers...hmmm...That might mean the next chapter will be out before we see this Even if thats not so - I just hope this update isn't coupled with a complete destruction of the Beastmastery line. Izzy when asked about Pet Controls in an interview months ago said that the skills look good now as a balance to the problems in Pet AI (IE: Pets suck so we gave their attacks High +Dmg and everything) and any update to make pets easier to contorl would likely be coupled with nerfs to these beforementioned better skills.

In PvE, I would like to see increased and sustained AoE/spamability possabilities for Eles using something BESIDES Fire. Nobody wants an Air, Water, or Earth Ele in something like a Jade Deep or FoW party. Yes, I realize each line has it's specific benifits and consequences (Fire = burning, Air = armor pen, Water = slowing, Earth = wards & KD), but in PvE, everything Air, Water, or Earth does well is inconsequential if you have even moderate team balance.

Water - Has good AoE, but lacks in spamage. Drastically reduce hex duration and reduce recharge time/energy cost?

Air - Good spammage, but severly lacks AoE and sustainability. Air is good versus 1 target, provided it isnt killed by the rest of your team before you get your second spell off. IF you were standing NEXT to someone struck by lightning, you would be hit too! It is ELECTRICITY after all. Add adjacent effect to low cost, nearby to high cost?

Earth - Better with Sandstorm, but possible scatter caused is unacceptable in PvE. Needs more AoE, spamability, less cooldown and exhaustion. Comon, Meteor Shower is at least 3 times better than Earthquake in PvE.

In PvE, people WANT AoE, high-damage eles; therefore they want fire eles.

Why not just have a button that when activated targets closest minion and activates "jagged bones, death nova, taste of death" for you?

Clicking minions is part of the skill of playing a minion bomber.

I dunno. A long ago, I was sour how the Priests of Sorrow in Sorrow's Furnace were able to constantly cast Ressurect 4-5 times after interruptions.

But in the meantime...It is now officially not the morning in PST. So I expect an ETA update, or I will be sad.

GW and Magic are totally different. With your annalogies I could say that profession being the house color that you play in Magic and I dont recall they're limiting how many color per deck. Plus Magic failed at balancing their cards also, that's why they divide the cards into blocks. Even so there still exist overpowered cards and strategies.
Not to hijack the thread too much. Spiking is still feasible with a cap on the classes or skills. Balanced group spiking over stacked class spiking was the point I was trying to make. Stacking classes leads to more exploitation and nerfing of skills than balanced teams do generally. My overall analogy was incorrect. Skills are more akin to ability cards than to the house colors (which i am not familiar with. I only played the game a little when it was first released).

With the mesmer update, I would ideally like to see a major update to the mechanics of pve than to the mesmer class. While this most likely is not possible, I agree with many others that all creatures be reduced to level 20 but have more intelligent skill bars, teams, and ai. Bosses can retain their superpower status.

Now I have to turn my friggin' sound off when I go to town. Please, please, please disable minipet sounds in town. This is by far the biggest annoyance I've ever encountered in almost 2 years of playing Guild Wars.

Changes to the Skills and Attributes panel are AWESOME! It's even better than previewing the selected skill's description while fiddling with the attribs. It previews ALL the skills that fit in the window. Click the small tab at the very bottom. I'm in love!

edit: You can't equip skills in description mode but whatever. I'm still in love.

edit again: It previews the skills you already have equipped. So be it. Still in love.

is it just me or does any one else think the new char switch thing is a bad idear ?

i know some one who had his account hacked and the hacker only managed to steal one char b4 he changed the pass, but with the update im thinking he was lucky he got hacked when he did, because i dont think he would have had much left if he was hacked now.

Taste of death already activates on the minion with the least amount of health. Jagged bones works in a similar fashion, though I think that's closest minion to you, not sure and death nova activates on yourself if you don't select a mini-onion.

I don't care how awesome these races are, no Dragon Arena = fail. That was by far the most fun (and balanced) form of pvp.

Also, the sounds from the retarded trolls and kunavangs (however you spell it) are really annoying in towns...

On a positive note, I absolutely love the skill window changes. Flipping sweet.

Obviously you've never seen a Margonite Anur Ki in DoA... They can spam Healing Whisper w/ Healers Boon up till the world ends...

The Dragon Arena was the shittiest form of PvP i've ever played. It's worse than RA for christ sake.


I knew minipets in outposts would be a bad idea. Its times like these i'm glad i play without sound. Oh btw, my sunspear title is still broken, quite fixing things nobody gives a shit about to create more problems and do something useful please.

My koabd title track no longer shows 2/5 for my two protector titles.

EDIT - OMG i just noticed about hard mode. Whoevers idea it was to implement this and pets in outposts is a freaking retard.
