Slightly annoyed at new attribute panel
Spellforge
I really like the update - lots of useful things. I really do appreciate it.
Wait for it...... here it comes......... BUT
I find it annoying that when I do my attrbutes up or down I get the popup detailing the attribute function OVER the top of the values.
So I put points in to go from 14 to 15 to 16 but the values are obscured by the popup
Anyone else ?

I don't find this a problem, i find the new way of displaying how many un-used points you have left over is abit less professional, and looks abit tacky. I prefer the old small symbol in the corner....

Yea, I think A-net's heart was in the right place when they made the changes to the attribute/skill panel, but really the changes are more of an annoyance than a help in any way. Personally I think they could have spent their efforts on something much more useful, but meh, at least they're trying to help people out.

yeah, i really don't find the new skills and attributes update very helpful at better at all. i much prefer the way it was.
but we all know that this will be here to stay... anet can't do roll backs... *cough* new dye colors *cough*

I don't like the attribute panel either. It looked much better before the update. All those popups everywhere are super annoying as well.

Personally I find it more annoying that the attributes aren't centered in the attribute section of the window. Just aesthetic I know, but still annoys me.

I mean they tried is what counts, but its a bit different to get used to.
Mostly the fact that they switched the columns for up and down. i went to add attributes today and there was no bar there and it took me a second to figure out why.
And the pop-up window over the skill templates isn't useful. If i wanted to check the skills i could simply click the template once to see the skill bar appear below the window, and if thats what i wanted then click load. But the pop-up and the display window is excessive.
Theres nothing wrong with being aesthetic. Its just one of those personality traits that people have.

* the attributes scores were better off over on the right hand side. what was the rationale behind changing it to the left, other than bored interface designers?
* all the "friendly" help popups obscure too much real information.
* character-switch needs a hotkey, like "C", so you can go f12->c to keyboard jockey it. it doesn't do any good to have "[Y]es" and "[N]o" but not "[C]haracter Switch" when you're trying to push people to use a new feature and it takes them more time to click and use than it does to just log out and log in again.
* the skills template "friendly" preview thing takes up 90% of the window. i already KNOW what's in the build, i put it there! bad, bad, badbadbad design. revert the skills template box behaviour.
* look, your changes were designed to try to make it easier for the clueless. but when you make a change that makes it easier for the clueless, you need to not do it in such a way that makes things more difficult for those who are already experienced with the engine.

As I complained about before, we read from left to right, and are used to lower numerical values on the left, and higher on the right. This update has borked that all up by switching everything to a mirror image, essentially. It makes sense to have the name of the attribute on the left, then the button to lower that attribute, then a button to raise that attribute. It's logical and what most of us are used to. It made no sense to change that, and I really hope I don't hear that excuse of "the community asked for it".

No one mentions the grid lineup for skills so that you don't have to scroll two miles down anymore?
How typical.

Skills pane *thumbs up*
attribute pane *thumbs down*
Left arrow for up, right for down - what the heck were they thinking. More popups is always bad.

I dislike the changes to the attribute panel (as does everyone I've talked to about it), but the rest of the skill panel UI changes are excellent.

Also I find the template menu EXTREMELY annoying, I dont need to know the skills, cos I know what name I gave the build and hence know the skillset/items. The popups just clutter my view and make it harder to see the names of my templates.
I wish I could turn that OFF!

- attribute pane is terrible to look at and popups obscure it
- love what they've done with the skills display part
- NEEDS: Saving of multiple weapons sets in templates!

I agree, I wish they would undo the changes made to the attribute panel. Now it's all backwards, and the unspent points thing is kind of annoying. Makes me not even want to mess around with it for now.

This update was really fantastic for the most part. At first glance at the attribute panel, it looks like it was designed by a left handed person.
A little hard to use ATM, though I will give it a few days for me to get accustomed to, and to really shape my final opinion on it. I haven't really noticed the popups most of you describe. When I look at the attributes, I kinda hurry up about it so I dont have to look at that mess for long.
Sorting by a small grid is perfect for all of my pve characters, as they normally have just the skills really needed - unlocked. It's a dream sorting through them now.

The only thing that annoys me is the attribute points are to the left of the attribute now. I think they should be back on the right. Other than that I like it.
Rasputin
I greatly appreciate the addition to the Skill Bar section. Being able to see skill value changes when an attribute rank is changed (without needing a skill mouseover) is a request I'd put in a few months ago when the Skills & Attributes Panel had originally been unveiled. So thank you. I believe the Attribute section of the panel could be reworked; not the greatest change as it stands. (Maybe it's just a lack of familiarity with the new design that's evoking that response.)
Still, an A for effort.

What everyone said.
Pleeease change the attribute panel back... and no need to do a test weekend on this one, then change it to something completely different. >.<

Wow, the total changing of position of the up/down arrows has really annoyed me and I have no idea why something like this would be changed; people are used to the old method, like it and would rather it than what we have now.
Count me in for at least wanting the up arrow on the right and the down on the left.

I like the new template pop-ups, but is there any way to move them *over* a little so I can read the names I've given the builds?
Warwulf
Here's a major annoyance that I hope Anet manages to fix ASAP:
Whenever you want to load a skill template and you mouse over the one you want to select, a window pops up showing you what skills you have. It's not really necessary, as it displays the same information once again when you click the name of the template (but before loading). It's a little redundant. However, here's the annoyance... the window that pops up makes it harder to click on the template name, as you have to move the cursor over to the 1/2" of text that's still showing behind the popup.
Maybe it's just me, as I'm viewing it under 1024x768. Not the highest resolution... but still, decent enough for anet to take into consideration. I'd be in favor of doing away with the popup skillbar thing, since now it also display it once you click the name. It's a nice feature, in case you forgot what a particular name means.
As far as the unspent attribute thing... not satisfied with the new look... but oh well.

Pretty much what almost everyone said, attribute panel needs to be reverted back. If its not broke why fix it?
