Perhaps, Loviatar, but I still don't see why some small statement about whether chapter 4 is on time or not couldn't have been made. I think it would have calmed a lot of the uproar down.

if it has a bunch of new things to announce there will be a big drop off of Nightfall sales as potential Nightfall buyers decide to get chapter 4 instead and simply wait as chapter 4 will be out soon.
under those conditions waiting until the last minute gets those last minute Nightfall sales.
just my guess but it would explain the silence

It's a good company, and I'm assuming only people who need to know know when it will be released. Besides, telling secrets is a good way to get yourself fired

As far as the next campaign is concerned...I'd like an approx time of when....I'm more interested in the rumours flying around about the possible Campaign 5 (probably just LA bs...still something to dream about though).
From the looks of things (rumor or fact) there may be more to anticipate than just C4 itself. Considering the usual release time of each new campaign is approx 6 months...explain what NC Soft means when they state in a February press release titled
NCsoft records KRW 338.7 billion in sales in 2006......"while the company anticipates the launching of Tabula Rasa and a new major update to the Guild Wars franchise in the latter half of 2007." http://www.ncsoft.com/eng/NCPress/list.asp
Does this mean that GW: Utopia/Vengeance/MyMittensAreBlue will be released AFTER July 1st...or that there is to be an actual update to the game that will affect the background of the game itself?

And don't worry. Those of us with a cooler head relize by now that Anet and PC Gamer have some kind of business deal giving PC Gamer the first exclusive on this news. We also relize the business benefits this kind of deal can have for both sides. And we understand that the "planned" release ever 6 months has been changed. It's obvious Anet has learned that kind of release scedual cuts into sales of the "just released" chapter and that speneding a little more time on the product will result in another great chapter like Nightfall, or better!
(like how I put that? I made it so that anyone who did not see these things now feels kind'a silly
)

Hopefully the extra time puts another Chapter 1 in our hands and not another chapter 2 or 3. From talking to alot of people, Chapter 4 is do or die time. I wonder if The Company heard what was said and decided to listen to them? Only time will tell.

Anyway I do hope it will be 6-8 pages preview with ingame screen shots, and some info on the story. The worst case would be half A4 page preview with 2 concept arts drawing and "Yeah we're working on the next chapter right now and can't say anything about it just yet, anyway it's done when it's done" like that D... N..... Forever.

since it hasnt been mentioned before here is the reason.
a financial statement on a company whose entire business (financial) model is built around twice yearly releases of content resulting in fresh infusions of working capital any delay would be clearly stated along with the financial impact of that delay.
also any change in that basic business model would be stated as well as the expected financial impact of those changes.
remember that this is published for investors and is not a pr/advertising piece

Well, maybe they are merging C4 with C5, and releasing it at C5 release date (1 year after Nightfall) That way the game will be super big and good (like Factions and Nightfall together) and will sell double as normal, so, that will be in some way better for the company that releasing 2 campaigns, because selling and shipping only one game/box plus selling double or even triple in a full year.
