"Fresh Guild Wars announced" From the Inquirer!
ofer1992
Something doesn't make sense. If they already revealed the name, shouldn't it already be trademarked. Else someone might steal it. No new records under Ncsoft, so I say it's fake.

I personally think that Anet won't give races seperate abilities, at least not innate ones.
Think about it, in the current game, even giant flowers and armed frog-things act just like our human characters as far as gameplay goes. As did the Charr.
If they keep to their current standards, the races will probably just be to have split storylines, and for simply being a Charr/Norn/Sylvarian/Asurian.
I'm betting it boils down to having a greater choice in the appearance of your character, and personally can't wait to play as a Charr.

I like the system of paying for it, it'll be probably 30 us dollars and be a whole new game for us who own GW 1 (1-4 :P)

Some of it (the news as a whole) even makes sense, though I take it well salted.
But maybe that's why NCSoft just announced "a major update to the Guild Wars franchise" instead of explicitly speaking of a new chapter.
Anyway, my bet is on a very premature april fool's joke.

There's plenty of creative ways to explain how our characters end up hundreds of years later, it's fantasy for crying in the mud.

Cross-Char-Compatibility actually would be easier to achieve than in other games.
Every character is level 20, got the same gear (stats-wise) etc.
Basically GW is just a fashion show, so all that would have to be transfered are looks and... oh well, our precious titles.
If A.Net really wanted it, there would be a way to transfer at least the latter. I mean... there are account-titles every single of my characters can use. Why not a descendant born 100 years later?

maby Gwen will lock us(GW1 toons) all in a deep cave and put us into cryo-sleep for HUNDREDS of years(GW2). :P

If they DO make a GW 2, they need to make a "Family Heirlome" system, so that you can transfer some armors to your "grandgrand-child"
Persuming that there is a Ranger class in GW2, it would be great to have this feature. Aslong as the gender and class is the same, I would be able to "save" my FoW armor for my grandgrand child who just happens to be the same class. Of course, she would only be able to open it when she is "old enough" or said with other words, "has reached the max level".
Then you go the the grand Xunlai Island and pay a small fee of 5000 gold whereafter you are able to access the ancient storage.
We would NOT be able to save our gold or materials.

It would be so appropriate and very Anet-ish if they do away with such "GWEN" hint.
And that's the scariest part for me too (since I'm praying for this whole C4/GW2 thing to be a big hoax myself).

Im not gonna jump on the "OH NOEZ" bandwagon yet till I see some officiol news but right now I do have some oppinions on this. Some good, but some bad too.
If this chapter is north of Tyria revolving around closure to the Charr invasion ill be happy and happier still if those Gwen quest items ive been holding onto forever finally get some use.
The most right now that leaves me with worry for info(or lack there of) is this GW2 nonsense.
A big question for me is a worry if GW2 will have a monthly fee or not. What made me come to GW1 without second thought or regret is how it was not a P2P so even the less financially gifted like myself can play freely and how it didnt promote grind but skill.
If I see 1 of 2 bits of info in regard to this GW2 can quickly pull me out of the GW community very fast sadly. If its P2P ill be gone pretty fast I think. At the very least it will make me consider going to play WoW real fast and with serious considerations.
Next 1 is the transferable worry thats going on. If all those hours spent on my present characters become null and void when this supposed GW2 comes out then sadly to say I wont be comming into GW any longer and such I think. It will at the very least make me again consider other MMOs with seriousness again. Even WoW would stand a chance.
However im not completly against a GW2. If we could do compatability and if there were options for races I would be happy too cause its more causmetic sure but I look at it as more customisation to offer more uniquness to your avatar/toon.
Im really hoping for some answers to this article, and hopefully sooner rather then later to put the concerns to rest and turn rumor into fact or lies.

Well, this has my interest going on here I do admit.
I for one have no problem with this "add-on". ANET has stated before that there wouldn't always be new classes for players to play with. The supposed 40 armor, 50 PvE-Only skills and so forth is interesting.
Issues I am however seeing is that this whole "Playable Races" thing. This Elementalist (Mesmer, Monk, Necromancer, Ritualist and Dervish) is NOT interested in this sort of thing. 'Specially with 3 races we have never heard of in the world of Guildwars.
There is a reason why Tengu are our allies in Factions right? There is a reason why there are a couple of charr, and even a margonite who talk to us in the Torment planes right? Let's advance on these things rather then making a mess.
But, I agree with many of the posters here: I want my characters to continue on through Guildwars 2. I have put to much time and dedication into each character (and overall) to watch them be put into their own realm of Torment due to the release of the game marked in 09-10, and of these FIVE playable races. I don't play this game because it's a "Free WoW!", I play it because it is Guildwars and it has a truely unique appeal to it that must be maintained if this company and ANET wish to continue on.

I don't see anything particularly negative about any of this news (assuming it's true, which I am, for the sake of argument).
Hey guys, guess what? Games change, and sometimes even die. It happens.
Edit: Oh wait, there was something negative. Only 150 new skills? 50 of which are PvE only? How about upping that quanitity a bit huh?

Besides its timeframe is estimated 2009-2010. Don't start making predictions that much ahead of time.
Personally, I plan to be halfway having a real life with a good job, loving wife, a stationwagon in front of the house and 2.3 children by that time. Probably wont bother with online games anymore and leave it to the new recruits. But I can't see into the future, and I still need to get rid of my GW-addiction before that time.

I have to say, I'm rather worried about this.
While I love the story idea, traveling to the north and learning the aftermath of Abbadon's failed rise to power, the other details are discuraging(sp?).
One of the things I loved about this game was the ability to keep the same character throughout an vast, expanding world. While I expected a GW2 at some point, after only 3 chapters and 1 expansion seems way too soon. And with 2 years till the next full chapter....I may very well get addicted to Spore before that happens.
I guess at this point all I can say is that I am definatly on board for this new expansion, but GW2 will have to either have really great graphics and reviews or allow GW1 characters to make the move for me to invest my time in.

But seriously just because you get married...have kids...a good job..a mortgage etc doesn't mean you can't still have fun.
Its a blast playing the game with your children and watching them learn how to solve problems by themselves...it actually helps the develop logic!
oh well about the only thing that can turn me off of GW2 will be if it goes to Pay2Play. (monthly)
Like someone mentioned earlier I wouldn't mind if it was a 5yr contract or lifetime contract if you pay xxx dollars but a monthly fee is just total bull :P
I have enough bills...

Im going to go with 100% speculation on the part of the reporter writing that article.
I expect he/she had nothing else to report about, and wipped out some highly unfabricated rumours that they had heard about to fill space.
Ok, so they have an image. But with all due respect, that could be from anything. It could be from a guy at Anet trying to make a quick buck by selling the website some completely unrelated screen-caps.
It could be Anet trying to miss-lead people to get publicity when they infact have nothing ready to show.
It could also be true, but these images and the information could change within days. These could be possible ideas for the games, and not substantial ones.
There is a good chance the expansion will be nothing like what the artical describes.

Ye olde liste of reasons why I disbelieve:
1: (Maybe the most important) Anet funds their servers with regularly released chapers, instead of monthy fees. What, exactly, is supposed to keep the servers running for two years without any expansions?
2: Anet has said that Nightfall was the conclusion of the three-part story arc. What are they going to do, slap out one tiny little bit of another arc and then quit?
3: Has anyone ever seen a "multi-level dungeon" in GW? Me either.
4: I'd bet my left arm on the fact that Anet will never, EVER release 50 skills that are PvE only.
5: 100 PvP skills divided by 10 classes (assuming no new ones). Whee! Ten new skills each! I'd bet it WOULD cost less than previous chapters. heheh
6: I don't believe that the first chapter that takes a full year instead of six months is the one that's going to be a tiny little add-on that completely breaks the business model.
7: The screenshot is of Pre-Searing. Could there be a bigger dead givaway?
8: What the Hell are "Norns, Asurians and Sylvarians", anyway? I call BS.
9: If ANY of this info was legit, it would have to be leaked due to the obvious exclusive deal Anet has with another publication.

GW 2 is good news. It means this game has been a success, and anyone interested enough in GW to post on a forum about it should be excited and happy for the makers of the first commercial no monthly fees MMO franchise.
Damn this game has been fun. But games can always be improved surely, and some of the things players have been requesting for months can be built into a brand new game because it can actually be financed by paying customers.
Examples of things we should expect:
* A goddamn Auction House. Goddamn it.
* Makeovers for characters - hairstyles/colours, facial hair, tans.
* A Roleplaying Chat Channel, maybe replacing Trade (see Auction House above).
* Less integration of PvP and PvE with each other. Let's face it, most of us find the styles are too jarring and different. Good fences make good neighbours right?
* A matchmaking PvP system based on win ratios. Rank doesn't mean much if the player with Rank 9 lost 90% of their games getting there.
* Auto banning of character names with the following elements:
Shadow
X
All Tolkien names
... and a spellchecker for lamers who can't spell their own names.
Well I can't see the last one being implemented... nevermind.
EDIT: if the news is fake... gw 2 is inevitable one day unless anet goes bust...
