Who's ass am I kissing?

The last I knew I wasnt under commissions from Anet or getting royalities from them. If you know differently tell me and I'll harrass them for my hard earned cash!

My point about PvE and PvP opinions being different about this question is valid. The two are going to have very different thoughts on the subject and it should have been covered in the OP'ers poll.

I'm speculating that most are PvP, and your speculating that most are PvE.

Unless someone re-does the pole to take all that into account, or people start mentioning which they are, then we wont know.

Until then, its not a fair poll. We could have most of those votes being PvP. If they are, it would be biased.

There's no reason to make elaborate polls about the subject. The answer is obvious - you may not have your characters or items ported into GW2. Why is this even under discussion? It's outrageous. There are no valid arguments for it. Time spent? Who cares? Special items? Nice memories of past events. Prize of veteranhood? Hah.

We are all equal.

Because when i first got into GW, i assumed the game would never get a sequel. I expected it to expand into the infinite, being upgraded along the way. GW2 would be a huge sharkjump imo, so i still hope it's only a rumor.

Your opinion? Who cares! no reason for you to even play this game.

If the professions, skills and equipment of Guild Wars 2 are exactly the same as in Guild Wars 1 (the profession and skill parts are probably necessary in order to support character imports), I don't really see the point of making it a sequal as opposed to just making expansions with better graphics. I'm okay with a sequel and I'm okay with more expansions, but I'm not okay with a sequal that should be an expansion.

Hmm, I don't know about you, but I play the game for fun, not to work-work-work for the next rare item, grinding my character to innumerable levels of uberness. If everything is fresh and new in GW2, I'm still going to play, and I'm still going to have fun.

What bad comes from a reset? You lose all your hard work? If all that work was fun, you certainly don't lose the fun you had. If it wasn't fun, why did you do it? I see nothing bad about a reset/entirely new game.

I want my characters over to GW2 ... I wouldn't mind loosing my money/equipment/skills, but I would definitely want to keep my Maxed titles as a sort of a tribute... story-wise this could be explained as having the option to bring your heroes back from the dead ( aka import old chars) to help but they have nothing but their famous acts... this way old and new players could mix without anyone having advantage.

I don't care about it. If GW2'll be a different game...let's start new characters!

I don't think they will be abandoning this game for a sequel yet. The game has not been around long enough, maybe we'll get new games that require you to have all 3+ expansions to use and get a higher level cap.

Since the current 3 chapters happen all around the same time, the new ones could take place a few years after the evens in the first chapters.

The next game/expansion/whatever is rumored to pick up the story after the events in Tyria, it is fesable(sp?) that the next wave of games go just a bit further in time.

I don't see the point in arguing any of thsi really, we'll find out in a few weeks.

You shouldn't worry about Transfering characters, it's doubtful to happen in an exclusively online environment.
What you should be worried about, is how long Guild Wars 1 servers, stay up for, when Guild Wars 2 is released.

The comment about jumping the shark was a little funny, since Jumping the shark would be making Guild Wars 2 an 18+ Rated title, or making only chapter 4 owners being able to get to level 50, not releasing a new Game, every company eventually stops making expansions for its current game and moves onto a new Game, who's to say Guild Wars 2, will even be called Guild Wars 2? It's probably just a production title.

Hmm I have to think about this. GW2 is in about 2 years real time, and set more than 100 years ahead of current GW. That means my characters will be over 100 years old in GW time, probably around 120 or so, and I guess quite geriatric. Though I guess a powerful necromancer can cast spells just as well from a zimmer frame. And perhaps Anet can introduce some of those zooty electric wheelchair things, we can have races on festival days. It will also help keep our aged characters more able to race after the younger, fitter monsters.

Ah, so if the election for the President of the United States was taking place, and they held votes in only one state, and when the tallies were taken and they saw the winner of the state, it would be safe to assume that every state would vote for that guy????? I'm afraid that that doesn't make sense, or bring in any logic. 1,000 players out of a couple million. You do need everyone on this.

Dude, Fury is scheduled for release later this year. Guild Wars 2 will probably not come out in FIVE years. I feel like you're in the assumption that Guild Wars 2 will be released fairly soon. It won't.

Thirded!

Oh wait. I don't have to vote. Ha! Ha!

So much drama, ego-waving, and irrelevancy it hurts my head. There's no real continuing discussion here, and this is pretty much just speculation. The effect of this poll isn't likely to have much bearing on the game itself, which is so far still in development, that the only use of the poll is to gauge forum opinion - which it has.
